Why do I get such crappy service???

To start off I have to say that I have pretty icky looking feet that can be rough, dry, with terrible looking nails and cuticles. I'm not very athletic and don't do much exercising besides walking around but my feet look as if I run like 10 miles a day for some reason. It's been that way ever since I could remember. I just have ugly feet lol.

So naturally I have gotten pedicures especially in the summer time to help make them look better. The first salon (Perfect Nails) I went to was a very small and not so glamorous nail salon. But I loved the serviced I received when I had gotten a manicured and pedicure there for their mani/pedi $30 special. They feet looked and felt great afterward and the technicians were very personal and talkative with me. But for the last 2 pedicures I have went to 2 different shops instead of the first because it's always closed whenever I have a chance to get out there. And I don't feel like making another trip out there the next day or another day to get my nails done so I just went to the next closest salon.

The one I went to first was in the mall and was a much more classy upper scale salon. My technician was nice, but wasn't very gentle with my feet and I felt that my feet didn't feel as nice as they had at Perfect Nails. Plus I paid much more for JUST a pedicure too. Now the second one I went to (Sassy's) which is also in the mall charged me $60 for a pedicure and manicure with french tips. Which is twice as much as I paid at Perfect Nails. So I was expecting really excellent service and time when I was there. Which wasn't so! It was VERY rushed and my feet still look super rough. The technician completely rushed through everything with me. I was looking around at the other customers and they were being pampered and the technicians who were servicing them were taking their times. I bit my lip and didn't say anything cause as long as my feet came out looking nice that was all that really mattered. Which didn't happen. My manicure was IMO below mediocre, even I could of done a better job seriously. The nails weren't filed nicely, the edges of many of them are very jagged and rough. The french tips look very sloppy on the sides. They've already started to chip. The weird thing was that I didn't notice how crappy everything looked until I got home and into a different lighting and could touch the bottom of my feet. By that time the mall was already closed. I ended up painting over my fingernails anyways trying to make my french manicure look less "cheap" cause all he did was apply the white tips and then this slightly reddish/pinkish polish over it that ended up looking clear. This was when he had reassured me that they'd show up a light creamy pink that was very natural and professional.

I am just VERY unhappy right now with all of this. I had talked to my co-workers who had seen my mani/pedi and they agreed that it was poor service that I had gotten. One of them told me that I should call them up and complain about what a crappy job they did. I want to but I don't want to be a straight bitch. I hate complaining but I paid $60 for this, the least they could of done was take their time and do everything properly. Now, I don't have super high unrealistic expectations but if anyone could see how my nails and feet look in real life they'd agree that it doesn't look nice at all. I don't know how to approach them about this cause I don't want them to redo my nails and feet again. I just want my money back, at least for the pedicure. Anyone have any advice on how to approach them about this nicely? And if they refuse to give me a refund could I possibly contact my credit company (I used a Visa to pay for this) and do a dispute??

aww hunny! I'd take pictures and go back to taht store! Tell them how you feel.... but make sure you remain professional (ie don't get upset or emotional at all) ask them how they can make it upto you. maybe a coupon or a do over? the last thing any company wants is unhappy customers, it gives them bad Page Ranking. so sorry that happened to you. HUG!
I tend to feel like that sometimes too..If you don't feel like you got what you paid for, don't hesitate to go get em!

Thanks girl!

I'll be sure to keep calm and to not freak out. I try to be nice to people like all the time since being mean to them just raises my stress level. That only makes things worse.

I just don't want them to make me feel uncomfortable about the whole thing. I hate doing returns/exchanges or complaining about something when I'm in a store. I just feel as if it draws unwanted attention my way. I really hope they won't do the whole, "Well why didn't you say something to us THEN?" speech.

If this was just $30, I would of just been like forget it and go back to the first salon from now on. But I'm just working a part time job right now and $60 is not chump change for me. When I agreed to pay that much for my mani/pedi I thought I was going to be walking out of there more than satisfied.

I don't know how I feel about having them redo it for me especially if they have the same technician do it for me again. I want to see how they handle this for me before asking if I could just be refunded the money on my credit card. I hope this doesn't get ugly or too awkward.

yep... agree on taking pics and registering a complaint.. complaints should be our middle names when it comes to service and products!

Well I think if you get the 'why didnt you say anything then?' speech to counter it with 'why didnt you do it right the first time?'. Don't allow them to place the blame on you, this is not your fault. Don't feel bad about complaining, if they didn't do a good job then they deserve it! Chances are they will not send you to the same technician, and if they do watch him/her carefully and be sure to take pictures right then and there if you see problems. I hope that this can be resolved well for you, good luck!

LOL I feel like such a wimp, thinking about having to muster up my "courage" to go their tomorrow or hopefully Tuesday to tell them that I'm dissatisfied. My friend/co-worker suggested that I call them. But I told her that I was too scared to lol. She offered to call for me and say she was me but she wouldn't of worded things very nicely.

Thanks, that's a good come back! Very true though!

I was seriously jealous of all the other customers the whole time I was there. The technicians they had all seemed to be very patient and attentive to their needs. A few times I had to ask the technician I had to do this or that cause he was totally skipping a ton of stuff and in a serious rush. I'm not sure why cause there weren't any customers waiting and there were enough technicians anyways to take care of them. It was as if he didn't want to really deal with me. I actually felt bad at first for not being able to leave him a tip (they aren't allowed to collect tips on credit cards which was my only form of payment at that time). I told the receptionist to tell him that I was going to bring his tip in tomorrow. I was originally going to leave $5 but knocked it down to $3 due to him hurrying so much. I didn't end up going back today to give him his tip cause he did a horrible job. I don't feel bad about it now Why should I reward horrible service in any way? Same thing goes for me at my job. If I don't provide good customer service to a customer, I can't expect or deserve to get their sale.

The only thing I would not have done was paint over the french manicure, because if you didn't like it, now you have no proof what it looked like!

I'd also say something ASAP. I don't know if I missed when you had this done, but many places have a time limit where you can complain and get something out of it. Like, at my salon, it's a week. (And for a mall salon to charge $60? Wow. I work at an upscale salon and our manicure/pedicures with french polish (for basics) are only $70.)

Also, did that nail place have different types of pedicures? Could be you just got crappy service, which happens, but maybe they were getting a different type of pedicure. ...Or maybe I'm overthinking. He may have just been a crappy tech.

60 for a mani and pedi? That's cheap lmfao, at my work it's 55-60 for only a pedi and 35-40 for a mani!! Mind you, I work at an "high class" spa. Are you sure they're really that bad? I've had complaints from people about shit that was just absurd, claiming i rushed when they did get they hour long service that it was supposed to be... Or saying I gave them an UN CUREABLE?!?! Nail fungus (which is impossible considering we autoclave our tools and sterilize out tubs with hospital grade cleaner)... So yah...

I'm not saying you're wrong, but from my experience, 90% of the clients complain just to get their money back, or expect more than what they should.

I really didn't care too much about the manicure at that point cause it wasn't looking too great. I looked like a cheap porn star with the way the french tips were done. The tech assured me that they would come out nice and creamy pink which would look natural. Which didn't happen. I might just go back to the first salon Perfect Nails and have them just repaint my nails. My nails weren't filed very nicely either some edges were jagged.

I don't think my complaint is absurd or anything. I don't think it's the salons fault rather than the tech that I gots fault. It was very evident that he was rushing through the whole thing and was getting very careless cause he wanted it to be done and over with. I'm sorry but I didn't pay $60 (that's not a small amount of money for me at this moment) for my nails and feet to look almost the same as before the mani/pedi with the addition of nail polish on. I only have to pay $30-$40 at Perfect Nails and the results were I kid you not 10x better. I'm not sure if my expectations are high but either way the tech didn't do a good job.

I'm going to go to the salon today and hopefully I can get my nails and feet fixed properly this time cause that's all I had wanted in the first place.

I don't think you have high expectations at all! I'm so weary of getting manicures and pedicures over at salons now that I just do it all myself on the weekends

I mean, the thing is that I want my nails looking clean and nice when I walk out of there and since we're paying, the service must be worth too.

^^ Yeah this experience has made me a bit weary too about going to any salon. I just kind of assumed that since I was paying more, that I'd get better service. But I guess sometimes you don't get what you pay for.

I would do a mani/pedi on myself but that would take the relaxing part out of it for me lol! There's just something about just being able to sit down and have someone pamper you and make you look nice.

Well anyways I finally was able to go to the salon earlier today. I had originally went on Wednesday but the tech I had wasn't in that day and was told to stop in on Friday when he would be in. I didn't get any trouble and everyone was cooperative. The tech ended up scrubbing the bottoms of my feet so they're a bit better now but still not GREAT. I ended up giving him a $4 tip just cause I always feel guilty about things even in situations like this where I'm the unsatisfied customer. I didn't mention anything about my manicure cause I had already painted over it and didn't want to spend anymore time in the salon than I had to. I'm still bummed about it but I learned my lesson here. If somethings good stick with it, don't try to change it!
