Tom Ford Beauty Discussion

Quote: Tom Ford may have launched twelve lipsticks already, but his original intention was always to dive into a full color line. Today, WWD broke the news of Ford’s full expansion into color and skincare. Ford said, “I don’t like B.S. and a lot of promises, and there are a lot of products out there you don’t even need,” during an interview with WWD. The color collection will launch in September with a 132-stockkeping-unit collection with prices ranging from $30 to $250. The collection will be sold in Tom Ford Stores and Bergdorf Goodman, as well as select Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenues. It will also be in Italy’s La Rinascente and U.K.’s Harvey Nichols and Selfridges. The aim is to compete against luxury brands like By Terry and Cle de Peau.

Ford’s original Priviate Blend lipstick line will be expanded repackaged to 18 shades and launched at 100 doors globally. We will also see two new PRivate Blend fragrances–Santal Blush and Jasmine Rouge–which will be at 225 doors globally. Violet Blonde will be a new Signature Collection fragrance slated for a September launch.

The line will include products such as Calligraphy Tip Brow Pens, Shade and Illuminate Cream Duet, Lipglosses, Traceless Foundation Stick, Illuminating Protective Primer, Purifying Creme Cleanser, and Intensive Infusion Concentrate Extreme. When we have more information to share, we will do so!

I'm curious to see what's included in this. I have his Black Orchid lipstick, which is very nice, but it's not equal in quality to other products in the same price range...

I love the packaging but I wish it wasn't so expensive. I mean the starting price is 30.00! That's probably going to be the nail polish price and it's not really worth it imo.

I've always lusted after Tom Ford products and I'm hoping to save up some dollars to spend on something from this line! Everything looks so classy and luxe.

I agree, love the packaging and form the reviews the lipsticks sound so lux, too bad it's way out of my budget.

Has anyone tried the foundation? I wonder how light the shade Alabaster is and if it is lighter than MAC, I'd love to try it.

The lipsticks are really beautiful, but in no way worth 48$. Unless you have 48$ just hanging around, taking up space in your wallet, in which case, more power to you.

TF is a luxury brand. It's supposed to be expensive and sell dreams. If it would be any cheaper, it would miss the target.

It's certainly debatable if one needs a $48 l/s, a $600 handbag, a $100,000 car, as you probably can survive just fine w/o any of these items. But conspicuous consumption is so much fun.

I have one Tom Ford lipstick. To date, I haven't seen or tested any of the other products in his line (are they available in the US?). It's a decent lipstick... certainly not to die for. It's great for fans of Vintage accessories because it has a very old fashioned weight and feel.

The formula is rich, and it's got decent staying power. Most of the colors are totally dupeable, but it's certainly a lovely little luxury item to possess.

Sorry for the late reply but I have tried all the new Tom Ford products. Like you, I was interested in seeing how pale the Albaster foundation is but I am pleased to tell you it is very fair! I am a MAC NC15 (but have used the nc5? in the past aswell!) and this shade is perfect for me! I always found Chanel foundations to be too light but this is perfect. The one thing I will say is that the liquid foundation is very sheer. I personally prefer more coverage but did love the glowly look given by the liquid foundation. I tried using the stick foundation as a base then added a touch of the liquid on top for luminosity and it looked beautiful. The sculpting and highlighting product is AMAZING! It is like a gel consistency and blends SO well! It is impossible to end up with lines down your face like I do when I use powder products! ;) x

Oh, I hear you. If you want to spend the money and enjoy the thrill it gives you to own that piece of luxury, then go for it. Just objectively, it's not worth the 48$ price tag, even comparatively with other luxury brands like Guerlain and Chanel.

Tom Ford Makeup Line

I just looked at the new Tom Ford makeup line on the Neimans website. Products can be preordered right now for shipment in November. I like some of the eyeshadow pallettes & lippies, but the prices are outrageous. $78 for an eyeshadow quad? I thought that Chanel was expensive!

Anyone have thoughts on this new line?

Dying to try the foundations (liquid and stick), and really want those brushes! Unless the eyeshadows and blush blow me away... I'm not really excited about those. I want to see the lipsticks and glosses too. I called Niemans and they are not getting it until the end of the month.

I just wonder if the products are *that* good to justify the steep price. I do have a couple of lipsticks from this line, which I actually love, and they were worth the price to me. I just don't know about the other products though. Like I mentioned I do find a couple of the eyeshadow quads intriguing, but I find it hard to pay $78 for an eyeshadow quad.

I got one of the lippies from the original collection and I like it a lot, but I don't find that the formula is as great as Guerlain Rouge G, which is the closest product in price I can think of. (TF is actually a couple of dollars more.) I'm curious about this, but I feel like there are already brands I know and trust who have proven themselves and I think it would take some serious incentive for me to take that costly a leap of faith. Anything that makes Guerlain look affordable is questionable to me.

I think that it's meant to be in the Cle de Peau/Sisley price bracket, one step above Chanel/Dior/Guerlain. :\ I'm super interested in the liquid foundation, which I saw used in a video by A Model Recommends and the finish looked fab. $78 though... so I'll need to see some mega-positive reviews first.

The old white-packaged lippies have arrived at my local CCO, and I picked up Bruised Plum (one of the dc'd colors). I think I'll go back to get Pure Pink, True Coral, Pink Dusk, and Black Orchid. (Whoa, just realized that's a lot!) I already own Blush Nude in the old-style packaging and love it!

I prefer the white packaging to the new black, to be honest, but I'm excited for the new colors that are coming out. I've got my eyes set on Wild Ginger!

I ordered both of the foundations in my color (I think) because I really want to see how they perform. I also got the cream foundation brush. Whew... I am BROKE! These suckers better be worth it, or else they are going BACK!

I'm curious to know everyone's thoughts. So far, my counter has only seen the lipsticks arrive. I was swatching them today and I have to admit that Flamingo and Crimson Noir (whose name is rather misleading) are kind of calling to me. I am eager to see some of the shadows in person.
