MAC Casual Colour discussion

I'm light, but not as pale as you are - bet 15 & 20 - bluish lips, rosacea pink cheek apples, and skin neutral, leaning slightly warm (i.e., more to yellow than to pink). And i tend to apply my blushes with a light hand.

-- For you i would suggest Lazy Sunday, pale cool pink - it's quite light. I was surprised at how nice it looked on me, so fresh!
-- Have A Lovely Day!, "neutral nude", is worth testing. Nudes often look orange on me, too, but HALD didn't - it really is quite neutral.
I got them both.

I like Keep It Loose, pale peach. I blended it down so it only added a hint of warmth, but applied more thickly would look orange, so probably not to your liking.
Weekend Getaway and Relaxation are not what i'd call subtle. While they blended out to an almost natural look, they were a bit too strong for me, as i like my blushes on the subtle side.
And Keep It Casual (wine red), Out For Fun (bright orange), and Evening Stroll (blue violet) are likely too intense for you. I got Evening Stroll, but i like anything that leans blue violet (not berry or plum, which is red violet or purple).
Thanks for your thoughts! HALD is sounding better and better :). I think you might be right about KIL being too orange but I wonder if it would look nice under Immortal Flower...I guess that wouldn't be enough of a reason to purchase though, since I think the finish of these on the lips is the most special

Just to test it out as a base lip color I used Evening Stroll and Dear Diary on top. I like it! Now I'm plotting to get Weekend Getaway and already ordered Out for Fun!

Don't mind my crazy hair!
Great color on you! I like the light purpleish e/s too! What did you use?

Those are the two I decided to try. I need a base for my coral color and the neutralish HLD seems perfect under just about anything...

Thanks. It does look purple too lol I have on dangerous cuvee and hocus pocus!

I just got "Weekend Getaway" and "Casual Color" ...

I can't remember how Temptalia applied them, but I just took a mac lip brush to them to apply to lips and they apply semi-matte...The slight sheen is more like
a lip balm type sheen. HOWEVER I applied a couple dots from my lip brush onto bare, no primer or foundation cheeks, and blended them out with my fingers
and they come out looking like a stain , matte. I didn't see any sheen or glow to them.

I have normal/combo dry skin , NC20. I haven't tried them yet with a foundation or primer under or any other brushes or finger to pot to face... But they didn't come up dewy.

Casual Color (The wine one), looks like a slightly more mute type red as Benefit's Benetint. It came up like a rosey-red on my bare face.

I did sweep MAC mineralize skinfinish in light-med on top of it to mute it , as it kinda made my cheeks look a little too flushed.
Put my matte bronzer, and Dior Shimmer Amber Diamond like usual and made it fairly wearable on the cheeks.

TBH I bought the Casual Color with the pure intention of only using it on my lips. It's a good red to wear without making your lips the center of attention.

Now for Weekend Getaway I did apply it on my cheek , dotting it with my lip brush and blending in. It is a muted yet not barely there Rosey Pink .
I haven't tried it on like the other one, but I plain to try it on with a primer and foundation to see if it becomes "Dewy" in that way of application.

It was a nice medium pink with a hint of rose tone on the lips , with the same finish on me as the other one.

Either my skin is really dry right now, but I don't think so.

I liken these to the Lilly Pulitzer cremeblend blush... Which btw was quite dry to begin with...

I say they are close to the Bobbi Brown texture and look of their lip and rouge (at least like in the pot version.. I haven't tried the formula with the new packaging).

That's my review for now... I'm keeping "Casual Color" for sure... But if I can't get "Weekend Getaway" to work as a lip and cheek... I might consider returning...As I wanted
one of them to work and look good as a dual product, as intended.

Perhaps the nude one or relaxtion would be the best for my skintone to for sure work as both, but IDK.

Received Have A Lovely Day, and it's just okay on me. On my lips it reminds me of Blankety, on my cheeks it has a dusty rose color. I wish it had more of a brown tone. I'm considering exchanging it for Out For Fun.

I just applied "Weekend Getaway" ... I'm keeping it!

I put a primer this time, and Nars Sheer Glow foundation . I applied "Weekend Getaway" with "Finger to Pot to face" dabbed it on in one or two dabs.
Then I took a Real Techniques Contour duo brush (which is a small domed dense brush) , and blended it out. It blended out great, was less of a stain
look then when I applied it to bare cheek, has a slight glow, but I think that is only because the foundation's finish comes through, but it could have its
own slight dewy finish.

I have normal/dry combo skin, in NC20 or "Deauville" in Nars Sheer Glow.

I didn't find it as major glowy or greasy as Christine of Temptalia found on her skin. I live in the so cal area and I don't see this becoming greasy.

I do think it will fade faster than MAC's Cremeblend older formula blushes... I know it fades fast already on my bare dry lips.

I do think it is suppose to be "Casual" in usage with its "Duality" purpose, but as well in natural color...

I only have "Weekend Getaway" and "Casual Color" ... So I can't say for sure that the purple or orange ones will wear the same..
However if these midtone darker shades wear in a few hours, then I don't know how a lighter color would work...

Casual color, I reviewed above.

Final thought : Not as dewy as I was expecting based on Temptalia's review and some others. Could be my skintone and that I haven't gone
outside wearing it in the sun, but for me on the cheeks with foundation (EVEN A GLOWING FINISH ONE), it has a slight glow or dewy finish
nothing GREASY or DRY looking ... However it is a "Stain" without make up on , underneath it. And you can mute the color with a light powder such as MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural...
Haven't tried with a translucent powder, but I didn't find the MSF to change the color in a bad way, just tone it down a bit , like I wanted when I used the Casual Color on bare skin.

However I didn't need any powder to mute out "Weekend getaway" when used with a glowy foundation. Probably wouldn't need it for "Casual Color" either if I used it over a foundation, instead of bare skin.

I received mine today and tried OFF as soon as I got home.

This product is incredibly pigmented. I'm probably about a NC23 right now, and my first tiny dab made me look like a clown. I tried again with the faintest smidge (really, a tiny amount) and blended with my 130. Gorgeous - love it. For the tiny half pinhead I applied, I got no sheen at all. Just a faint orange wash. Similar to modern mandarin, but more natural somehow. Definitely a fabulous blush colour.

I'm a bit disappointed in it as a lippie. My lips really aren't dry; they're almost never bare. I never have to exfoliate them or use balms to combat dryness. And yet, when I applied this it seemed to settle into fine lines I didn't even know I had in my lips. I've never seen that with any lip product. Ever. No lipstick, not lipglass, not even liner when applied in a sheer way to the full lip. It seems like I need a balm beneath it. I'll play around with it a bit more but I'm less than delighted. I get what T meant when she said it almost shrink wraps to the lip. I tried a clear gloss over the top and it looks worse, not better.

I expected to love this as a lippie and not like it as a blush and it's the opposite. On the upside, I think these pots would just about last forever. I can't imagine finishing one.

Update: Oddly enough, when I tested KIC I didn't experience this at all. It's creamy and much more like I what I would have expected. Great colour, nowhere near as intense as on T (in fact, it would look ridiculous on me if I even tried to layer it on that way) but more lipstick like in terms of finish.

I've tried OFF with bare lips, with liner (as liner), over a thin coating of a Tendertone, with clear gloss...nothing works. Bare it settles into lines and looks dry and unnatural. Over balm it's still kinda patchy and while it doesn't settle into lines as much, it has a crappy finish. I don't know if I got a bad batch, but I'm not getting the look or results I've seen online. This product doesn't work for me and I'm returning it.

I haven't played with it yet but it looks really pretty. I can't wait for WG to get here thursday. I'd love to see swatches of what people got if possible. It's fun to see what colors look like on different people.

My OFF and HALD arrived today. I've only played with Off but i barely had to use any of the product to get the look on my lips I wanted. I already have Launch Away blush on today so only applied a teeny amount of off to my cheek to see the color.

Since i did an in-store pre-sale, i won't be able to pick up my Casual Colour babies until Thursday, the 7th, the day of the official release.

I'll be bringing home:
-- Evening Stroll - rich violet
-- Lazy Sunday - pale cool pink
-- Have A Lovely Day! - pale neutral nude

I'm also thinking of picking up:
-- Keep It Loose - pale warm peach

They're all so nice, but i gotta practice a little self control... and realistically, i won't wear the strong colors, well, except for Evening Stroll, 'cuz if it's blue-violet it can do no wrong.

I got my order today just before I was about to head out. I got Keep It Casual, Evening Stroll and Out for Fun. Of course, I decided to wear Out for Fun first. It's the coral shade and it's gorgeous. It was easy to apply as a cheek shade. I didn't find it greasy and I didn't feel it was still "wet" minutes after application. I have normal/dry skin, so keep that in mind. I will say that I find this product drying on the lips. It didn't look dry, but it felt dry. Next time, I'll try a gloss over it. The wear time was good. I wore it for about 5 hours and it still looked good. So thumbs up from me. I'll need to look at the other colors and see if there's something else I'd like and snatch that up, too. After a few duds from Mac, I'm pleasantly surprised by this product.

shontay i've only tried out for fun at this point, and i totally agree with your review. it doesn't feel greasy on my cheeks, but touching them i do feel they're slightly wet. so i guess it depends how often one touches their face! anyway, gotta try these out during the day to know for sure....at this point love em.

Are you going to me wait to hear about Keep it Casual :sigh: :haha:
 Well, it's really pretty. I was so close to trying out that one instead of Out for Fun. It's a unique color to me b/c it's not quite red, but not really berry. It's not too dark, which I hate. I like face brightening colors, if you remember. When I tried it on my lips it made them look like they've been bitten :naughty:. This will be the next one I wear out.

I was going to ask if you set it with powder, but I'm pretty sure you did. I don't make it a habit to touch my face, but I didn't get any tranfer when I did and just having it on my face, it didn't feel odd.

Thanks for this girl. This is what I was afraid of. Hmmm I think imma pass. I have to be careful with lippies, as they can react bad on my sensitive dry lips. I think imma get some of those new maybelline lipstain balms instead.

I agree with Audrey. It does settle in lines and seems to even create more lines on the lips. Like I said before, I will try a complimentary gloss, but I think after playing around with it a bit I will still stick to using it as a cheek color only.

I really hadn't expected it to be so drying; I don't have a problem with dry lips unless for some reason I don't wear lipstick or gloss for a few days. I've never seen all the little lines this product seems to bring out and I never get feathering. I hope this isn't what my lips are going to look like in another 10-15 years; I certainly don't need to pay for an advance viewing of it now!
