MAC Fashion Sets discussion

I bought my first l/g in January and I've already had two go bad - Hot Spell and Lust. They've gotten thicker and they have a funny smell. I was told by MAC that they're still ok but I'm not putting that on my mouth. I will no longer buy MAC l/g because I'm not spending about $20 Canadian for a lipglass that lasts 3 months. I've had other brands last far longer, including much cheaper ones. I have four CSG on the go and so far they've been fine; I'm trying to power through them.

This is a disappointment to me since I've been buying MAC since the VG1 launch and I've never had a regular lippie go bad. I've replaced some that were ancient but that was personal choice; they seemed fine

I've been using MAC l/g for years and this is actually the first one that's gone bad in such a short period of time. I've had some l/g for years, but like Audrey, I replaced them due to personal choice, not b/c they smelled off. I actually compared RD to a l/g that's almost a year old and the older l/g still retained the MAC vanilla scent. I figured it was this shade as well.

Probably just going to ask for a refund and then probably use that money towards another palette.

I know someone mentioned about the lipglass smelling bad. I ordered about 4 of them. The one ive used also smelled weird (please me) Like melted crayon. Only way i can even describe it. It smelled like vanilla at first. But after a month, it smells and i've only used it three times.

Melted crayon is a perfect description of the smell. Razzlerdazzler is the first lipglass I've ever had go bad, so the smell surprised me. I'm now going to check all of my Fashion Sets lipglasses since you mentioned Please Me also smells weird.

GAT lipglass should be permanent imo

Pink Poodle lipglass is permanent and is very similar to Girl About Town lipglass.

I finally made my way to MAC today. Richer, Lusher cremesheen glass isn't an exact dupe for Razzlerdazzler lipglass, but it's pretty close. They're the same shade family but Richer, Lusher is slightly darker. I also swatched Ravishing lipglass and it's darker than Richer, Lusher. Hope this helps!

I finally made my way to MAC today. Richer, Lusher cremesheen glass isn't an exact dupe for Razzlerdazzler lipglass, but it's pretty close. They're the same shade family but Richer, Lusher is slightly darker. I also swatched Ravishing lipglass and it's darker than Richer, Lusher. Hope this helps!

I like CSGs far more than regular lipglasses. They're moisturizing and definitely not as sticky. My only qualm is the amount of product you get for the price since they're more expensive, but I still prefer them.

I would call first and explain the problem... sounds like it's BIG issue with this l/g so I'm sure they've heard it a million times! More than likely they will just tell you to throw it away and refund your money. And if they want you to return it, they should send you a shipping label. I'd be surprised if they had you send it back.

Thanks, it's been on my to do list for the last few days, haha. I just have to remember. I remember when I called to ask about the scent, one rep told me it shouldn't be in the fridge (when I said mine was) and the other said it should (when, for fun, I said it wasn't in the fridge). Goes to show, they'll say anything to not accept blame!

PixieDancer is correct. They did not have me send it back. They would dispose of it anyway as the replacement one they sent me was not used. They just told me to throw it out and that they would refund my money. I got confirmation that it was refunded yesterday.

I was actually told to return mine, but I was given a prepaid shipping label to do so. If a product I ordered is defective, I wouldn't pay to return it on my own dime. I would have to insist on a prepaid label or a refund of my shipping costs. But that discussion never happened with MAC. I was just automatically given the label.

I think sometimes, depending on who you get on the phone, they ask you to return it for quality control issues. And maybe take into account how many refunds that specific agent has allowed with no return... Since this l/g has been such an issue, they probably want some of them back to address quality. During HC I had a couple broken products show up over several orders, so I ended up demanding that they take the last one back because I was starting to feel uncomfortable that they would think I wasn't being honest with so many issues over one collection! Plus the last one was SO BADLY damaged, I wanted them to see it for themselves!

Those would be virtually identical sheered out over lips I would think. And the csg is so much better for me.

I have never had a gloss go bad that wasn't 2 years old or older unless I left it in the car and the sun baked it or something. I have read you can put peppermint oil in it to hide the burnt crayon/plastic taste but I personally just B2M them if they smell funky.

I didn't even think to B2M them! Ughh, I'm so stupid sometimes!

I've depotted almost all of my e/ss and have B2M all of them, for some reason I can't seem to remember to do that with the lip products.

I only got GAT lipgloss , Impassioned lipstick and gloss... and st germain np forgot to mention how much I regret not getting razzlerdazzler lipstick ;( anyone know if there's anything similar? that Is NOT LE I noticed rebel lipgloss only last time I was on macs site

I didn't include Russian Red because that one is already permanent. Now I can get Saint Germain, but I'm not sure I want it anymore. Lol! Thank goodness I only BU'ed Impassioned which is still LE. I would be mad if I got a bunch of BUs for them to become permanent.

I'm curious about Razzledazzler LG. I had to return mine because it went bad really quickly. It happened to other people too. I wonder if they fixed the formula.

I only got glosses and lipsticks. I can't think of a permanent dupe for Razzlerdazzler.

Yep, they have made some of them Permanent! I called MAC online one day and asked about Snob lipglass and he told me it wouldn't be restocked and then i went to the counter and they said "hey guess what they made perm? the fashion set lipglasses!" -___- lol!
