Re: Chanel Discussion & Must Haves

Ok, now I am a bit annoyed. I thought I had remembered 'Active' and 'Nutritive' from the posts a few pages back (but alas, did not remember 'Hydramax')....the counter manager at Saks yesterday looked at me like I had 2 heads when I asked about a moisturizer with 'Active' or 'Nutritive' in the name, and she said, no, that's Estee Lauder. And I said, no, it's not - I'm pretty sure it's Chanel. So she escorted me over to the various displays they had with the skincare (it's not set up like a 'normal' dept store display) and said 'Sublimage?' and I said (somewhat emphatically, NO), and said I was certain there was an 'Active' or 'Nutritive' in the name. I then thought perhaps I had been mistaken about what I had read here (I'm not an Estee Lauder skincare person, so I couldn't deny her suggestion totally outright), but I see I am not, and since I have now google'd it, I will know what to ask for when I visit Nordstrom in the future.

I spent enough with her - no regrets, but sometimes I hate being made to feel I'm an idiot. I get enough experience with that elsewhere in life!

Did she give you samples of the UCS - I hope. Its the only thing that I've used that I see immediate results.

hubby said - isn't there some makeup you wanted to look at today? Nah, me???
lol.gif
so I guess we're off to look at some goodies & dinner
tong.gif

No samples, they don't seem to have samples of a lot of their products, and they aren't allowed to "make" samples. But if I have any adverse reaction, I can take it back. Otherwise, what she explained and your experience with it is enough for me to try! Can't hurt, atm I'm only using a basic moisturizer meant for acne prone skin, so it's not doing too much for me.

And could your hubby teach mine a thing or two? He is too sweet! Have fun!

What kind of immediate results?? I'm intrigued! Is it better than the Hydramax serum?

Elegant, you have the most amazing glowing skin in your profile pic and you are the ultimate Chanel skincare guru. I would love to know exactly what your skincare routine is - morning and night!

Oh, I agree!!
yes.gif
Please tell us - I will print it out to take with me when I go to the counter - I'm not unhappy with my skincare regimen (products and routine) but I am always willing to listen to people who have experience with results, particularly if skin-types are the same. Can you tell us that too?

This time I won't be a noodle-head when I ask for samples of something!

I've done some minimal 'freelancing' but don't get to do it often enough - if I had life to live over again I probably would have done something in the field of makeup......my son's girlfriend shows some potential for head-shaping

ok, I came here to post my mini haul & I couldn't believe your posts! It made me cry
cry.gif
seriously - all of your comments are incredibly kind!
heart.gif
THANK YOU all most kindly! Ya know how to make an old lady feel good
smiles.gif

So I got my Rose Petale - man you guys are so right it is beautiful! I also got In Love - that is seriously the prettiest peachy coral soft blush ever.
And Mythic
smiles.gif

I guess we all like similar colors because the recommendations you guys gave are perfect!

So my dears, here's what I use with some updates.

First of all - no sun! ok very little with sunscreen if any sun. I've always been a stickler about no sun & I must say it works because at 50, I have no wrinkles. I have normal to dry areas skin.

Lotion Purete (the green toner) I use this all over my face before I wash.
Gel Purete Foaming Gel Cleanser
They recommend the above for more oily skin which I don't really have, but It really keeps the pores clean imo.
Gommage Microperle Eclat Exfoliating Gel (pink) only like 1 every 3 months, because my skin hates exfoliating
th_dunno.gif

In that pic I was using the Hydramax Active, but now I use the Hydramax Nutritive
Ultra Correction lip, eye, Serum
I LOVE the Serum for my neck chest area!

The immediate results I noticed from the Ultra correction line is firmer, softer, tighter, hydrated, youthful looking skin - like a soft focus look

Makeup in my avatar pic
Bare Minerals Multitasking in Bisque which I use under my eyes & then concealer over it.
Mac Root cream color base (dicontinued) with Bobbi Brown Fog es over it & Bobbi brown Espresso gel liner (love this)
Bobbie Brown Pink Raspberry powder blush (palette)
An older Estee Lauder no color face powder which I now use MAC's Prep & Prime powder, or Chanels translucent powder.

Always use some highlighter around your outer eye area & high on the cheekbones!

wow, again thank you all for so much love!

Oh, hubby smiled when I mentioned his tolerance for my addictions
smiles.gif
He is just a kind & loving guy & knows how much I love makeup & pretty things. Seriously, this guy sits for hours while I try 32987597647 swatches of makeup
lol.gif
Even the MAC artists love him & think he is so cute for doing that. He's adorable. I would never have that kind of patience - with me

Re: Chanel Discussion & Must Haves

Elegant, thank you so much for all the info you provided! I am so going to get that serum, for starters. I also agree about using cleansers that may not be geared towards drier skin. I also have dry skin, and back in the day, people would always push cream cleansers on me, but I learned very quickly that many still have the tendency to not clean out the pores, some are actually quite cloggin. Only problem is, a lot of gel cleansers can really make my skin feel tight... how do you feel after using gel purite?

At the moment, I have been using Clinique's Acne Solutions Cleanser. It is the type that foams and has salicylic acid in it, but suprisingly has never made my skin feel tight or dried it out. That plus Retin-A atm is keeping my super angry chin relatively clear.

I agree about the sunscreen as well. I am fanatic about it on my face, but far too lazy else where unless I'm on vacation!

Can I just take a moment to say, that... 50 isn't old, but elegant-one, based on your avatar, I was guessing a decade younger. I hope my aversion to sun pans out half as well! :furiously scribbles down your skincare routine:

Elegant -- You look fabulous. I was a sun worshipper growing up -- Now, I curse myself for it! My husband was looking over my shoulder and I said how old do you think she is (pointing to your avatar) and he said "35?"
smiles.gif

Shypo -- how fun that you've done some freelance work! I wish I would have done something in the makeup field also. Do have gorgeous glowing skin in your avatar pic too -- do you use Chanel skincare or something else?? I need a new regimen. My skin has gone a little wacko in the last little bit. I am 37 and it reverted back to being oily and prone to breakouts (ummm, I thought I was done with that after my teenage years!).

You don't look 50! All that care you do for your skin is worth it!

Thanks for sharing that the serum is good for neck. I thought Chanel doesn't have any neck creams so I use the neck cream from Clarins. My neck got really dry since last year that it itched. It is now better after using the cream consistently.

Maybe I will post my haul pics later.

The following items still need to come home with me...

Bleu Celeste quad
Precision Ultra Correction Serum (i had a fairly lengthy discussion the other day with the Chanel sales rep, and this sound perfect for my needs!).
Marine blue e/l
The purple'y new duo (Misty?)

For the fall...
Enigma quad
The lightest pink glossimer (though I gotta see it irl first)
Both polishes

On a side note... my daughter today was pulling stuff out of my make-up drawer, and DH noticed the boxes of quad and JC's neatly lined up in there! Made a comment, naturally, thinking I had bought all of it recently. But in my defense, everything in there is between 3 months and 4 or so years old!!!

Please let me know if you get the Bleu Celeste quad. It looks right up my alley! I think I would get more use out of it in Fall/Winter -- so it is on my "to buy" list!

Elegant, you're so gorgeous inside and out. If I turn out anything like you at some point in my life I'll be thrilled! Thanks for the skincare rundown, I'm really interested in trying almost everything you use.

Shypo, I hear you on the annoying under-informed sales associates. Nothing makes me want to spend less money than asking a question and getting a tude in response...and with less info than I already have at that. Pffft.

Bonitinha - I haven't tried a Chanel lip pencil yet, but I've heard good things. I'm excited to get Pink Sugar and try it out!

Ladies who have hauled recently/are about to haul...enjoy your new stuff! I hope everyone's having a great weekend.

I have used various things over the years, but have ALWAYS worn sunscreen on my face/neck/chest. Good genes help too - my mom has always had good skin. My biggest gripe is hyper-pigmentation (age spots, also hereditary) but I'm considering seeing a dermatologist to see if I can get something to either lighten or laser them
winkiss.gif
.

I too had a breakout problem a couple of years ago, and had to see a dermatologist then to get things back under control. Darned hormones!!!
th_rolleye0014.gif

But over the last few years I've been using Philosophy Real Purity cleanser (which I love, and always replenish as it also removes eye makeup without irritation - I haven't found a good substitute yet), and Olay's Regenerist sculpting cream over Dr. Denese serum and her firming pads (which I get from QVC). I use either Dr. Denese neck cream, or one from Bare Escentuals - I like both. For my eyes, I've been recently using the Clarisonic Opal (with its included serum - eye area only) and Bobbi Brown's eye balm. When that is gone, I'll probably find something else to use - maybe Chanel? For my sunscreen, I use Neutrogena Age Shield Face SPF 90.

I decided last night to splurge on the Ultra Correction Lift serum, and will likely pick up the Hydramax cream today......quite an investment, but I'm hoping for great results!

I also picked up Red Shine glossimer and Rose Diamond AL gloss....couldn't resist a bit of color......I'm hoping to also get In Love today - I keep looking at that one.......
