It is different there. We're only allowed colour on our shoes and jewellery.

IN the uk it's all black but you can have whatever shoes you want no matter what the colour. You can also wear coloured accesories but all clothing has to be 100% black. No polka dots, no stripes ect ect...

Thank you all! I had my interview today and felt confident with what I wore. Y'know what they say, dress for the job you want... I can't wait to hear back from them next week!

yeah my store manager (now the MRO of the region) tried that mess with us and i had to get all technical - went all state law, ADA requirments and that got shot down real quick. So they can now say they would like us to wear heels but it can not be made a requirement.

Wow seriously?? How come wearing heels cannot be made a requirement?? What are state laws and ADA requirements with wearing shoes??

Tell them if they come home and massage your feet every night then you will wear heels everyday.

Sorry girl - didn't see your post. Basically I was bluffing with the state law requirements. I did remind them about the landmark case in NV which stated that casinos could not require hostess to wear heels - being that they must stand all day. (which is funny cause we are in CA and no one seemed to remember that part ;-)

ADA (the federal disability act) I'm sure has some rules about that mess. As i do actually have a disability I just had my doc write a note. He did advice me that almost any doc will write a note for some bs rule like forcing you to wear heels when you have to stand all day.

very interesting. it seems the us are more strict on presentation but ive seen some ma's here in uk who look, well, kinda rough. its like they havent made any effort with their dress or makeup apart from the pro store. they always wear the same e/s colour but in diffrent ways and i think thats really cool.

you dont need to bring your own brushes, the stores/counter usually provide it for you! you can wear slip ons as long as they are ALL black. and i have seen artists wear black jeans in certain locations so you might want to check the counter before you do that! i know nordstroms is really strict on wearing jeans! the stores and macy's arent so much, but still check in! and this may be too late of a responce huh?! oh yeah advice, about 15 mins before your shift ends! wash your brushes =) it leaves a great impression on the counter and they may call you back for more hours!

Re: MAC Live Chat FAQ

No you absolutly cannot wear black slip ons. Its in the dress code policy. I asked my manager myself, because I LIVE in my vans, but they said that it cannot be anything casual or streetwear. Also the only kind of black jeans you can wear are the super dark stretchy kind, I dunno if you know what I am talking about, but yeah we all wear those at the locations I've been.

And yeah brushes will be provided for you.

Request a copy of the dress code. I know that Miss Supra (Chava) was kind enough to take the time and type it out for us.

Hope this helps.
