MAC X Beth Ditto Discussion

probably want to shoot me, but I'm sort of hoping there will be something other than a bright pink lippie with this collection. (Although, clearly, there will be at least one bright pink from the photo.) I feel like Mac are foing a great job with the bright pinks between Iris Apfel and S3C3, but it's getting to be overkill. It's like someone in product development just discovered the existence of hot pink and can't let it go...

Hehe, you and me are old hands at hot pink lipstick, so of course we've got the angst. MAC's raking it in on hot pink now in a big way, marketing it to young girls who never dared to wear a bright lipstick before. Trust me, they act like they're discovering the New World in the Nina, Pinta and the Santa Maria. I think MAC's managed to corner the market in brand recognition for bright pink lipsticks, due to celebrities who used those crucially rare Candy Yum Yum and Pink Friday and they're using a tactic of stringing out more of them, always in limited editions and heavily associated with pop culture icons.

Come to think of it, back in the day, MAC was the one to go to for hot pink lipsticks too, so hey, it's a tradition.

For whatever reason, I'm not feeling too hot to trot about this Beth Ditto collection. My spidey sense is telling me that it's mainly going to be bringing back popular, cute colors - maybe not re-promotes, but I see hot pink lip, turquoise eye color (those dots), some vibrant pastel nail polishes, etc.

The ONE thing that's got my motor running is this mysterious reference in that tweet you posted: "We want a LOVE LONG DISTANCE to EMBRACE ME. Put on your BETH MASK, there's a NEW HUE. POINT BLACK: we want a NEAR BETH EXPERIENCE". Beth Mask - could be something along the lines of Elude!!!!! Hope so, it'd be great to have something equal to Elude that's not in such a ten-ton compact. I figured it'd be a while before we saw something like Elude, but it might be coming sooner than I'd expected, with Beth.

Tell me about it! Bronzer isn't gonna be going out any time soon, but considering the latest generation of young makeup buyers' moms are all the age where the geisha powder look was last in style, maybe that trend will be back sooner as opposed to later after all.

i've heard of Beth Ditto (fashionwise) but not her music...

someone who has listened to her music fill this in:

"if you like (insert musician here), then you'll like beth ditto."

that's usually how i expand my music preferences

my trainer told me there would be lots of brights think dare to wear but on acid!!

I'd like a super acid bright palette and more dare to wear lipglosses, but in funkadelic colors. you just got me hype for this collection. i may be skipping chen man & saving cash for this instead

Sooo excited for bright colors! I have a few shadows from Hot Topic that are in the neon/acid realm, but the color pay-off is lacking :( even with a milky white base, they don't pop the way I want them to! Come on MAC, let's get some neon shadows up in here!

The only thing I wished for the Dare to Wear collection was that it would have been even brighter and crazier, especially the lippies! The promo picture doesn't say much, so here's hoping that's only the tip of the iceberg.
