My pro shop wasn't selling the collection today, but they did let me have a peek at the product and swatch them. I'm more impressed than I thought I would be, because in person, the shimmer of all the products really adds depth that doesn't come out so much in photographs.
Some brief thoughts:
Flustered is a little deeper than I thought and more bronze, but it's a very pretty colour. Quiet, Please looks divine in the tube, but I couldn't even get it to show up on my hand.
Of the gelees, Luxure looked almost clear and seemed to have less shimmer than the others. The remaining three are very pretty, although I'd still say that Sin-tillation is unnecessary if you already have Resort Life. It's cooler and a bit pinker, but I can't imagine you'd really be able to see the difference. Both Bubble Lounge and the one whose name I can't remember are quite pigmented. BL is mine on the 26th. The Great Enabler thought that all the gelees were nice and warranted buying- he thought there was enough difference to justify having both Luxure and Sin-tillation.
The Paint Pots are not exactly sheer, at least not as I understood it, but they are more emollient than others. I found that all four colours had plenty of pigment- no trouble getting any of them opaque on my hand- and all are very pretty. Chilled on Ice is the frostiest of them, while I think that Dangerous Cuvee is the least frosty. These are really the high point of the collection. I'm definitely getting Vintage Selection and Dangerous Cuvee. TGE thought Chilled on Ice was the nicest one... It's really a subjective thing. Bottom line, if you're put off by frost/ shimmer, you're probably not going to like these (maybe DC), but if you like that texture/ finish, you're probably going to want more than one.
I Get No Kick is a very pretty highlight. I couldn't see the shimmer that well, although I had all the p/p swatches on my hand at the time, so perhaps it was just more subdued when placed next to them. The Great Enabler really liked this.
I had the damnedest time getting any kind of swatch from the beauty powders. They look really pretty, but they seriously did not want to budge. If I had that much trouble getting them to show up using my fingers, it seems like it would take about half an hour to get them built up using a brush...
The quad is... pretty much exactly as expected. I thought it was pretty, TGE seemed iffy until he saw Caviar Dreams, which he thought was very special. I made a point of swatching the permanent line version of Retrospeck and the quad version and the latter is much smoother. Maybe it's just that the permanent sample has seen more action, but they swatched totally differently. I'm waffling on this a bit now, because I found it really difficult to get Brule and Et tu Bouquet to show up on my skin.
Those are my thoughts... I'll be back on Sunday to make my purchases, although I'm still figuring out what those will be.
Edit: I absolutely loved both nail lacquers. I might have to grab the two of them.
