MAC - Peacocky discussion

Here is the palette I was referring to that fits the shadows perfectly. It is the Ben Nye pressed contour palette that holds 12 colors. I paid 9.00 for it at a store called Southern Importers here in Houston.

So if you have a costume or theater supply store near you go and get them! You can order them online at several places as well.

Is it crazy that I now want four more just so I can fill up my palette?!

I finally got a chance to see this collection in person:

The Kissable Lip Colors are just as fantastic as I was hoping. I am going back on payday for Woo Me. I was wrong, it will not be too glittery. I touched all of the shadows, and to be honest the quality is hit or miss. These are not anything life changing. Some of the shadows look sheer and poorly pigmented, some are richly pigmented. Some feel creamy and smooth, and some feel hard. The ones that are pigmented and feel creamy/smooth are the same quality I can find with my Stila shadows. Dior still kicks their butt. I did decide I would go back for three or four colors I wanted. Sexpectation really let me down. It was described as a metallic burgundy, when all it really looks like is a deep berry/rose.

I also got a sample of Prolongwear foundation. If this doesn't break me out I am going back for it. It is amazing!

Devin, I completely understand - I'd find it hard trying to fight the urge to completely fill the palette, too lol.

I've just been searching the internet, and as yet haven't managed to find that palette here in the UK. If anyone knows where I can get one, I'd be very grateful.

I was the first to swatch all of the eyeshadows at my store (I know this because there were no fingerprints/marks and the SA's let me swatch it days before it was on display) and most of them had similar pigmentations/smoothness then...other than peek at you which was not as soft or pigmented as the others. Odalisque was smooth, though not as heavily pigmented as I expected. Sometimes when the e/s have been out for a while and touched a lot, it really affects the quality/feel of the sample product. jmo...

Sexpectation was a let down for me for the opposite reason as it was for you: I wanted it to be more berry as it looked in the pan, but when I swatched it, it was definitely more burgundy & warm than "Cranberry". Not metallic tho. I agree with you, Stila e/s (my favorite texture) are still superior in texture but my one complaint is they don't have the range of color (in store) anymore...which Peacocky does offer. They might not be Stila but I am still very happy/satisfied with the e/s I got :-D

Something else I love about Love Peck and the formulation of these kissable lip colours: usually when a lipstick fades, it looks as if I had left lipliner on with no lipstick (annoying, and not lovely to look at lol)...when the color fades with these, they leave a beautiful, smooth lipstain...nno ugly liner look

Has anyone used Chilled on Ice p/p from Cham Pale as a base with Prance or Dalliance? I'm going to try it out tomorrow.

Love her review, and shes adorable! Now I'm excited for Enchantee!

Ooh I love the eyeshadow swatches and especially Woo Me and Enchantee on xsparkage's vid!
Enchantee is definitely back on my list now though it might be very close to Of Royalty.

I like to keep all of the same colors together, &, unlike, a lot of you mu pros, I don't have the colors memorized nor do I know exactly what I own (lol!). So, if they are altogether, I can see what I have in that color all at one time and just make the appropriate selection. Problem was that I had so many browns that they filled 2 MAC palettes so I would have to open up 2 to see just my brown choices. I bought 6 so I use one for my browns, gold & yellows, & blues & teals, & blushes: 1 for pinks & plums/berries; 1 for oranges; 1 for bronzers. For now, I use the MAC palettes for my smaller quantity colors like purples, bronzes, pinks & whites, & greens. Maybe I'll pick up a few more if offered at NY IMATS 2011 if they're selling them there & save the shipping.
MAC really needs to get on the ball and put out some additional palettes! They could do once less colour collection this year and concentrate on new and fabulous ways for us to organize everything.

This is what I meant by my comment above - MAC should have better/bigger palettes - like this one!

I agree! I think people dont get how different from other MAC shadows these are.
I remember not really being into LE. I used to just go on the site or store and get what interested me. Was less stressfull lol
I still think the prices and not really knowing/understanding the texture of these new products is what is keeping people away for now. Their loss is our gain. I love being able to take my time and buy things. Reminds me of the old days.

Elegant I think it would look great together. I'm almost tempted to get a champale pp just to wear with it...utoh lol

ugghh, you guys are still making me want Prance! I swatched it today again - its so pretty. I just normally don't wear those colors. I thought Dangerous Cuvee would look lovely over it.

I don't know maybe it just me but I need a break from the LE collections its exhausting and you don't really get to fully enjoy the current one or enjoy the permanent line. I mean what a day or two before this collection released we had names for 3 or 4 other collections. I'm still kinda new to MAC but I think it would be better if they came out with 3 or 4 collections a year instead of a month or two that way nothing seems rushed and they could potentially make good products like these perm. Back on topic you guys are really making it hard to decide which items to get when money frees up for me lol I get more excited the more I read about what everyone got and thinks about everything thanks for sharing everyone

So the bottom line is - I am going to need a base for these shadows? Can I use a paint pot?

I never wear a base, it's just an extra step that I don't like, but I'll do it for these if I have to...

Hi ladies! So I finally took sometime today and went to Mac counter. Loved all the eyeshadows, I'm not an eyeshadow person so only got Centre Stage bu I was really surprise. The lipcolors I got 3, Flaunting It, Strut your Stuff and wanted Peacocky but the MA made a mistake and gave me Scandalicious. I noticed at home so I'm going tomorrow and change it.

I use TFSI or UDPP even with a paint pot. There are some people that say they can just use a paint pot. I'm not one of them.

Haven't tried that yet, but I did use Dangerous Cuvee as a base for Center Stage and Spectacle of Yourself and that was really lovely. The glitter bits in the pp just peeked through perfectly, while the shimmer was provided mostly by the shadow, except where I blended it out.

It seems like everyone is different with primers and you just have to experiment to find what works for you. TFSI and UDPP both make my shadows crease worse and UDPP actually forms crystals in my crease.

If these shadows don't work over my paintpots or Laura Mercier eye basics then they'll have to look pretty special for me to consider keeping them. I do have the NARS and LORAC primers but I don't like having to work to hard to make a product work.

Anyway, I hit up MAC Thrusday evening after work. I tried on a couple lip colours but nothing grabbed me. I really don't like a sponge tip for something so opaque. I kept on Strut Your Stuff after I left the store and it started to feel dry but it still looked good a couple of hours later. Interesting formula but not for me right now.

Based on swatches, I had been planning to get Prance and then either Centre Stage or Unflappable. Prance is gorgeous and very wearable while still being a little special so that was an easy choice. Unflappable disappointed me in person. It just looked grey and it blended nicely texture-wise but the resulting colour was muddy and flat. I didn't see any hint of purple on my skin. Centre Stage was lovely - not special but a great colour. I didn't buy it though because it's neighbour Spectacle of Yourself lifted up it's tail feathers and strutted around until I bought it instead. The texture just seemed better than the others and it's very metallic.

The staff at the store are getting fed up with the endless collections and they weren't hiding it. My SA had no idea what any of the colours in this collection were called.

It was recently suggested to me that the MATTE mixing medium works great as a eyeshadow primer. Not the matte gel texture but the actual mixing medium. Like you said its trial and error thing to find out what really works for you.

I went and bought my peacocky things today! I bought Peacocky, Spectacle of Yourself, Dalliance and Love Peck. I really wanted Flaunting it and Ego as well but I only had $100 CND to spend. But the lip colours are awesome! Great wear and they feel soooo nice on! Love them so much and so many wonderfully pigmented eyeshadows in this collection! Wish I had more I could spend on it!

Well, I went back and got Scandelicious. Yes, it is appropriately named because it's delicious (it's Friday and I'm tired). I compared it to Strawberry Fields which is obviously darker so I was excited about that. It is very close to GAT but since I got that through a B2M I'm not too offended. Love the color. I'll probably continue to use Strawberry Fields in the winter and bust this out in the spring/summer. Can't get over my love of these formulas. I tried the other colors but they looked bad on me. I really wanted Strut Your Stuff if only for the name, but apparently me and orange based reds don't get along.
