MAC - Peacocky discussion

I got Centre Stage today and it's surprisingly cool on my skin tone. Honestly it's like a very dark grey-brown and I can't see a hint of bronze in it. The quality of the shade is comparable to Paparazz-She, I only swiped it lightly with my brush and it was enough for both of my lids. Amazing shade for smokey eyes but it's so easy to blend you can also tone it down for a daytime look.

I did a quick look with Paparazz-She on lid and CS on crease but didn't like the result that much until I layered a coppery shade over CS. Tried it with pure golden eyeshadow on lid and CS on crease but it looked a little flat to me. My last attempt was to use a light golden pewter (almost like Dalliance) on lid with CS on crease but the pewter shade turned into a cool silvery shade. Now I'm confused and don't know which shade I should combine with CS

Or maybe I should try and swap it for Spectacle of Yourself, idk..

You took the words out of my mouth. From the beginning of your post, to me, it sounded as though SoY was what you were really after. I'd at least go try it on.

I ordered this afternoon. Can't wait for my stuff to arrive. In some ways I kinda like the way us UK girlies get things after you in the US - means we get to suss out the stuff more, see swatches and work out exactly what we want rather than getting (quite so) caught up in the hype, which I'm totally guilty of!

Curiously, I've not heard much about Dandizette...doesn't seem to be too popular? It's on my maybe list...any love for it?

Also, does anyone know how similar Sexpectations is to Artifact p/p?

I can't wait to get my stuff!!! One of the best looking collections in a while to me!

I have Dandizette and its pretty. Because its blue, people may be not hauling it as much as the natural colors like Dalliance, Unflappable, Centre Stage. People like oranges and bronzes- SoY and Paparazz-she. and love purple, Noir Plum People want shadows they can get alot of wear from because of the size of product and price point. I see more people using the shadows for traditional smokey looks, so they are going for the lighter colors and the darks. Dandizette is a mid tone cool blue.

Sexpectations is a deep pink and Artifact is deep burgundy. Artifact would make a good base for Sexpectations, but they are not similar out the pan at all.

I still think, though Enchanted is more wearable and lighter than say Gaga, St Germain but they are in the same family. Vanity Fair is more similar to thoose two.

Woo Me is a true nude. On me it doesn't pull brown at all, just a beige nude. I have neutral undertones and my lips are pretty red (NW25).

Happy hauling Euro ladies :)

this is such an interesting collection. I went to purchase ToP and a Center Stage and I found a Noir Plum too. But Center Stage was sold out at the MAC store I went to in Centennial CO. But they had Odalisque. I ended up skipping that and getting an Ego instead. I eventually found a Center Stage at the Macy's in Littleton, CO. Yes, I drove all over town to get one.

So, I ended up hauling every color of e/s except for Odalisque, because I can use Teal pigment if I really, really want to wear that color. I mean, I wear teal maybe once every three months. I don't think I will need to buy eyeshadows again for years. I am seriously set. I think I am going to trade off Dalliance because it doesn't look that great on me, and I will trade my backup of Unflappable. So, another collection I spent more than I meant to, but when your eyeballs are wrinkly like mine, you cannot afford to pass up on a formula as awesome as this one. Between Peacocky and WW, I don't think I need anything else this year.

Sometimes I wish we had the later release dates in Canada because of this, too!! But, then I think I would get jealous and upset since they're actually Canadian products! lol The swatches and reviews are a definite plus, though. Hope you enjoy your haul! :)

Teehee, OK, I finished my palette! Here are some pics:

From left to right...
Top: Prance, Top of the Posh, Mating Call, Noir Plum, Unflappable, Dandizette
Bottom: Dalliance, Paparrazz-she, Spectacle of Yourself, Centre Stage, Ego, Odalisque (with its poor little chip! :( )

I am soooo happy to have all of these in one place and to save some space in my makeup stash! Plus, its such a pretty rainbow of colours :) AND now I have enough empties for 2 B2Ms, plus I have another 6 or so waiting patiently :) I'm saving these for Quite Cute and Jeanius!!!

I did have to be suuuper careful depotting these because any twist of the metal would threaten to pop out the colour, but it wasn't too bad - I only messed up a little on my first one because I couldn't yet detect the warning sign of the colour lifting from the pan.

This palette fits the Tartan Tale shadows as well, and I depotted Follow Your Fantasy thinking I only bought 11 Peacocky shadows! Now I have nowhere to put it, so I've snuck it back into the broken container for now... lol

I have to agree - SoY is more that type of colour! I didn't pick up Centre Stage until later, and I like it but I don't get as much use out of it as SoY - I mostly have been using it to deepen the crease with colours like SoY :) It's also really pretty with Dandizette and Top of the Posh.

Thanks girls!
I don't know what to get anymore, I suddenly realized I don't even use browns that often. I use purple with orange much more often so it would've made sense to get Noir Plum instead. I just have so many purples I wanted to get something different
lol.gif

I think that's exactly how I'd use Centre Stage too, just to deepen the crease or as a liner. It just seems silly to have a huge pot of it for that purpose. I think it would look good with Cranberry and other burgundy shades so let's see. Maybe I shouldn't give up on it just yet. I think it might look better on me with other browns in summer when I'm not this pale.

Happy hauling to other Europeans!
I guess we won't be getting it today but excited to see what you'll get.

My thoughts and haul on the collection:
I got:

  • Dalliance: when first swatched I could see the greenish gold tinge in it. I'm usually not keen on greenish shadow (personal preference, nothing to do with my skintone) but I decide to get it anyways because everyone raved about it
    amuse.gif
. Also because I'm looking for a light color for my lids. I should try it on tomorrow and hopefully post some swatches too if the weather permits! (Haven't got any sunshine here for a loong time)
  • Tweet Me: I love the color of Rubenesque p/p. Tweet me is a more dense more intense version of it. So pretty! I was worried it looked too much like Style Predator from Leopard Luxe quad, but it doesn't! Tweet me is less orange, more of a subtle goldish peach sheen on me.
  • Odalisque: It's a pretty turquoise/teal color and I don't have a proper turquoise shadow. It's very unique to my collection. That was my selling point. I actually couldn't decide between this and several other colors which I love
  • Flaunting It lip color: OMG! On tube it was okay, swatched it was so so, but on my lips!
    holysheep.gif
. So pretty!!! Made my face instantly looking fresher. Hubs said it makes my lips slightly redder but still natural looking. Let's see, it might going to be my first backup ever. Katred, thank you for suggesting this one
    bouquet.gif

Now I only have money for four items, so here's my thoughts on other things I swatched/tried:

  • Prance: it looked like a metallic light pink on me. I think Shontay once mentioned it looked like nanogold e/s. My thoughts the same. Even though it's pretty, nanogold looked strange on my lids. I could only use it for inner eye & browbone highlighter. I guess it will be the same case with Prance too.
  • Noir Plum: A very nice purple. I'm not very convinced of this one, somehow not the kind of purples I fell in love with. Also, even though I don't have a similar purple, but I have quite a few purple already and I love them. I might still get it though, if I found some extra money :D
  • Spectacle of Yourself: I like this one too, even better than Noir Plum. But somehow I think I might be able to dupe it with a combination of several colors on my stash. It's on my wishlist too, so let's see :D
  • Unflappable: This one was the one I couldn't decide between Odalisque. It's so pretty!!! I can see the purple on me. A dark plummy purple-brown. I'm definitely going back for this. I just hope they still have it in two weeks time .
  • Papparaz-she: Reminds me of NARS Taj Mahal. Swatched very nicely too. It's pretty, but just not my cup of tea.
  • Ego: it's a strange green on me. Not flattering at all. Then again, perhaps it's because I'm just not that much into greens.
  • So Vain lip color: Also very nice on me. Shontay is right, it doesn't look milky at all. Unfortunately, between this and Flaunting It, Flaunting it is prettier on me, and I'm sure if I missed this, I could easily find other nice corals.

Phew, so there's my thoughts on this collection. I hope it's useful for some of you :).

Isn't is just soooooooo great to have them in a single place. I LOVE having mine like this. It makes me happy everytime I open my palette.
I mean, I really love having mine all together. LOVE!

BUT one little thing......
I want to use a palette like this with the dividers.
I have 14 of the Peacocky shadows. The ones I find with dividers hold 12. sigh.
This will drive me NUTS if 2 don't live with the other Peacocky shades. And how on earth would I choose the two that don't live with their Peacocky siblings?
So, for now they are living in a palette with the divider taken out (one of the big palettes, I think it was from Stars Makeup Heaven.)
I put in some other shadows to use for blending.
But, if I had my druthers, they would be like this, in a divided palette. It is niggling my brain. Must find the right palette.

Oh, geez.
I just am now remembering a dream I had last night.

Normally if I dream of makeup, it's about the newest collection. After spending hours and hours contemplating, and deciding I tend to dream about that collection.

Last night though I had a dream about SoY.
One eyeshadow. This has never happened.

Normally my makeup dreams are good dreams. I wake up happy. Last night wasn't a good dream. I hit pan on SoY after only a few days, and it was disappearing at an alarming rate. I knew it was crazy, because it was a big shadow, and I never would go through a shadow that quickly. It was disappearing even without me using it.

What the heck. And I remember thinking, oh, crap. I need to get another one. Oh, crap, I think it's sold out everywhere. OH CRAP, are they all going to go away this quickly?
WTF2.gif

I remember waking up with much feeling about this. Really, like sad and anxious. Luckily I have you guys to admit this kind of dream to. I don't know who else I'd tell about it. lol.

I need to stay away from here and the MAC site before bedtime. Now I need to go look at my palette and reassure myself that indeed there's plenty left. j/k, kinda

good grief.

LMAO Marajode!!! When I depotted Follow Your Fantasy, it went straight back into the pot so that my babies could be together!!!! I wonder if Ben Nye has a 15 or 16 colour palette, so you could fit in all your shadows PLUS backups....

Annnnd I loved your nightmare story. I'm dying laughing, but I'm also terrified of having the same nightmare now!!!! This is how I feel about both Dalliance and SoY. I cannot afford to get backups of these right now, but I will cry the day I hit pan on these!!!! Hopefully I'll be able to pick some up down the road....
