I posted on Temptalia's Facebook wall when she thinks she'll be able to get up swatches, and she says she has to buy them. I find that extremely odd that MAC doesn't plan on sending out samples.
i think this collection is relatively smaller compared to the others. so they prob wont send out samples? darn mac!

^Hmm I find that odd as well, considering the gloss is a new formula bloggers should get samples to test it...maybe thats what MAC don't want...

I think you might be right. Some bloggers have a lot of influence over what people end up buying - esp. if people aren't able to try out products in store themselves...after big bounce being slated and semi precious getting mixed reviews maybe they aren't going to send bloggers new formulas to test run before people have had a chance to have a look at them themselves and make up their own mind

Exactly my thoughts.

And as pros can buy it this week, we will hopefully see swatches starting on Thursday.

maybe in a way this is a good thing if for the odd collection they don't send bloggers items. i think it was sad that the majority of blogs ragged on semi precious and the mineral shadows and i have no clue why - they are so beautiful! :)

I think they should create their own swatch videos - like the way they have done artist in action videos in the past. That way we get our swatch fix prior to the release dates and new formulas don't get a bad name for no reason before they are even released! I loved those artist in action videos..they haven't done one in a long time

This would be wonderful, but it's probably a high cost that eventually would be added to the retail price. I miss those videos too.

You guys are probably right about Mac not sending the bloggers the new formula. I myself chkouy some of the bloggers but in the end I make my final decision based on my judgement. It seems like once one blogger says one thng they all follow suit, so it's hard to know who's being "real" and whose just copying. I myself don't have a problem with MESs, I would,ve bought more but my $$$ wasn't right!!!

I think it sucks if they've decided not to let bloggers review this collection. If they are scared of feedback or bad reviews then either step your game up or pay for your reviews. Either way, I need to see what it is I'm buying because their crappy descriptions don't put me at ease. They just did a blogger collection to show they appreciate the bloggers, but then shut them out of reviewing a collection? Ok. Fact is, the BB shadows are duds and Semi Precious doesn't offer much that is unique. I think Mac has done better mineralized products and that's why these things aren't flying off the shelves. I don't have time to go to the mall and look at these things. I need to buy online. If I can get swatches and reviews of upcoming Nars and Chanel products, what makes Mac so special? I saw raves for SP and I saw some people who were "meh" about it. That's how it is with almost every collection. Deal with it. They, themselves won't put out any kind of swatch video because they probably don't feel like they owe us that. That would be going out of their way. Perhaps they want people to buy blindly and have to return it later. :rants:

Well, bloggers can buy it next week - or probably earlier if they have a Pro card, so I don't see the big deal.

Yes, it is inconvenient to wait, especially if one is an impatient person like myself, but I can understand that a lot of negative critics makes companies more reluctant to send out samples, especially as the reviews posted by individual members seem to be rather positive. I am not saying that everybody should love Flighty or SP, but I feel products need to be reviewed more thoroughly before offering any kind of critique (positive or negative). Given the large volume of collection, this is certainly hard. I'm sure that MAC will continue to send samples to bloggers, but maybe not full collections. I find it also exciting to test out products for myself w/o being influenced by reviews. Of course, if there are reviews, I'm probably all over them, but in the end, I only buy what feels right for me, taking my own complexion, look, and techniques into account.

I still hope that we will see swatches for Glam Glass soon - I'm sure it will pick up once the first pros buy it on Thursday. Happy hauling.
