Chanel Foundations & Concealers

I almost died on the spot tonight when I walked into Saks and saw the new foundations. I came away with a sample because Saks can be funny about their returns. I did try it on the side of my face and #94 Ambre seemed to be perfect. The nice saleslady gave me enough to do my face maybe 3 or 4 days. I got a good feeling about this. Even when I got home and looked in the mirror, it seemed to blend right into my skin. The texture is a dream. I think I will have to sit Mufe in a corner. I told the saleslady "I love Chanel. It's about time you guys acknowledged the existence of my people". I smiled, but I was dead serious. She said "I know" apologetically. If all goes well tomorrow, I will be heading back to buy this foundation on Saturday. :cloud9:

After the fiasco I had tonight at MAC regarding the Matchmaster foundation, I'm more excited now about the Perfection Lumiere. Pretty sure I'll be 44-64 in the Beige Ambre range.

I'm SO behind on everything Chanel (trying to catch up!) but I got an e-mail about this new foundation and came here right away to read about it!

I love the idea of a long wearing foundation, but they always seem to make my face look like I painted it with chalk and stuck my face in some sand. How is the staying power of this one? Is it super dry? Will I look like I stuck my face into sand? Does it smell good?

I'm stuck at home with no car for a few days (mine's in the shop and the hubs is away on a work trip with his), so I can't check it out in person yet. Maybe I should just order it and give it a try? I may not have my car but I have my CC, lol!

I'm so glad the darker shades in this foundation are working out for you ladies!

That gives me hope that maybe someday they will work on the pale shades too.

Excuse me while I do a victory dance around my house. This foundation is amazing! Wore it all day today and it's truly lovely. It matches my skin perfectly! It's so silky smooth and it only takes a little. I can see myself stretching this tiny sample bottle into 6 or 7 uses, but I am buying a full bottle this weekend. Well worth the $55. It gives my skin a glow, but it doesn't make me look shiny. My skin just looks healthy. It didn't irritate my sensitive skin either. Oh and I will say that it carries a scent. It's like a floral perfume scent, but it's really pleasant. I'm not usually into scents for my foundations, but this one is pretty nice. Plus, it fades a few minutes after you apply it. I am so impressed. I love Chanel even more now. I have always wanted to own a Chanel foundation. Now if only that bottle was a little bit bigger!

@ Ingenue-- I read your review of Aqua and I totally agree that Chanel should have made shades that women of all skin tones can wear. Whoever was behind that decision was not thinking!
As you can see... I'm JUST seeing this comment. Thanks for reading the review. I feel like Chanel heard SOMEONE because their new Perfection Lumiere comes in 20 shades!

I am SO HAPPY to hear this! I'm trying it out myself this week. I believe we are the same shade. I can't wait!

Yay!!! I'm thrilled for you girl! I need to try this foundation pronto. Hopefully it'll work on my pale like a baby's ass skin.

Okay Shontay, I bought the foundation. IT'S LOVELY! I really like it. It's a bit dark and 'orange' for me... BUT that's easily corrected with a little Tinted Illuminizer or Peau Vierge. It's really weightless. I don't even mind the smell.

Glad you like it. When I first put it on my skin I was afraid it would be totally orange on me, but once I blended it in and set it, it wasn't a problem. I think my mufe foundations are more golden and they are the absolute best color match, but this Chanel foundation looks great to me also. I've stared in the mirror and taken pictures to make sure I'm not crazy. Plus my friends are quick to tell me I look crazy, so it works. I am in love with how weightless it is.

B10 is a bit dark and orange on me too, but that was on bare skin. I'll have to see how it looks over primer.

I just saw the new foundation at Macy's tonight. I couldn't figure out which shade I was and the SA seemed clueless so I decided to try it another time. Looking forward to trying this soon.

Man Shontay, I was half-hoping you'd tear it apart and say it was awful so I wouldn't have to go check it out.

Oily-skin ladies--what are your thoughts? That's the other thing I'm worried about, that it'll disappear off my skin within an hour or two.

EDIT: Curiously, what shade did you try?

Well I have normal to dry skin and it made it feel kinda tight & dry...unless that was just my rosacea reacting to something in there that may be a good sign for oily skin.

My skin is normal to dry also. I have eczema but it doesn't really affect my face. This foundation feels better than anything else on my face. I have to look and think carefully though because now the slight color difference is more apparent. I prefer how the mufe duo mat foundation matches my golden skin perfectly. I need to think long and hard before dropping $55 on this. It feels so good on my skin, though.

I'm oily as HECK, and it sets lovely on my skin. It becomes 'part' of my skin... so it's not sitting on top of it and encouraging it to produce oil. I wore it out last night and never blotted once. When I got home my skin had a slight dewiness... not was NOT oily.

It's definitely 'orangey' in hue. But I found that if I dot Peau Vierge ON TOP of it (not under it), it neutralizes the orange completely. Same with the Tinted Illuminizer from Rock & Republic. So I'm thinking that any 'illuminizing' primer would work if you either mix it with the foundation or apply it afterwards. It did not work when I put the illuminizer on FIRST. I think this formulation likes to adhere directly to your skin, without any barrier in between.
