MAC Glitter and Ice Discussion

If you swatch 50 products in a few hours, sh** happens. LOL.

The copy-and-paste method has it flaws...

I'm actually rather glad I'm broke for the release of this collection. It seems like one that's much better when you go to visit it. Like I said before, staying FAR FAR away. :p

Luckily, the MES don't interest me, the paint pots look a bit glittery for me, the polishes are meh, the technakohls don't interest me in the slightest, the the BPs are too freaking expensive, and the mineralize lipsticks :)p) are too frosty or too red. XD

I do, however, like the swatches of the cool palette from ShadesofU.....

I am not sure about Double Spin after seeing T's swatch. The color looks freaking gorgeous on skin so I'm definitely going to try it on my lips before I decide. The only thing I NEED NEED NEED is Morning Frost. If none of the lipsticks work out, so be it. I've gotten a lot of good stuff and there's so much more coming up!

How was the party?

I didn't get much:

- LS p/p x 2
- Both b/p
- Warmed Snowglobe

No MES due to lack of veining.
Hi Mac-Guy. I'm so tempted to run to the pro store today to check out the collection. I really want the MES but I haven't really seen many swatches yet so I don't even know what veining to ask for. Unfortunately, this new Pro store has all the products in the back so you can't peek in the drawers to see the different ones. I'm thinking I may just wait 'til launch day and go to a regular store. Next week right? Besides, I just called the Pro store and they said they only have part one of the holiday collection. Will everything be in stores next week?

Temptalia's swatches of How Beautiful b/p are SOOOOO disappointing! :(
Nothing like Mac-Guy's lovely swatch that made me want it in the first place...
What the heck is going on? =\

Maugh! Went to the Pro store in Montreal and they aren't going to have the collection until next week. I remember this happened with the holiday collections last year as well- those ones (and the Boxing Day ones) came out at the same time as all the other stores, rather than one week before, as they usually do. Can't imagine why, especially since other pro stores seem to have everything for sale.

Looking at Temptalia's swatches, I'm kind of tempted by Winterized. Soft Sable and Whirls & Twirls look nice as well (W&T reminds me a lot of Secret Lover from Mac Me Over). I'll visit everything in person, of course, but I'm on the fence as to whether I should skip this collection or not. Getting new stuff always feels great, but it seems like there might be more to my taste in other upcoming collections.

I think I only want snow globe (how would htis look on nc 44 skin )?

whirls and twirls, maybe, and maybe soft sable, browns look horrible on me. what joy and such flare are maybe's, I think I'd like Rebel over What Joy, and you all know how I feel about Runaway Red. I even got a backup.
and the mineralize and essential brush set. I know they look tacky, but I like that about them

I also only want 3 mes, frozen blue, hold that pose and winterized.

I think I can skip the eyeshadow sets, but warm is calling my name b/c of Gaelic gold.

How would you wear eloquent air? What would you layer it with?

I want the Kanga Rouge set, will probably skip the face sets, and that's it. LOL

I could easily buy two of each of the brush sets for gifts. Just need someone to tell me about the quality.

She made a comment about the texture being affected by applying the b/p with a brush, so I'm wondering if she swatched it with her finger as Mac-guy warned us not to do, causing it to film up and swatch not so well? I know I've swatched things with a clean hand before to have it leave a film or rough spot (others here have mentioned similar experiences) and it sounded like the beauty powders in particular should be swatched only with a clean brush.. I don't see why else her swatches would be so dull in comparison.

Has anyone tried these technakohl eyeliners? are they as bad as Temptalia is saying? I personally have never tried these types of liners and I was wondering if they are worth purchasing!

For Effect is exactly the same as the
CHANEL ILLUSION D'OMBRE LONG WEAR LUMINOUS EYESHADOW in Illusoire. I just might need to have both, just because. LOL Hocus Pocus is so pretty over the Chanel one, and it is going to be gorgeous over Fo Effect as well.

Get noticed is as pretty as I expected. DOn't know how I feel about spending that much on nail polish, will try to find a dupe in OPI or something. The sparkles are pretty. I'm sure I can dupe those as well.
Do you mean Mirifique? I've been wanting that color for a while now. Maybe I should skip For Effect.

I'm trying so hard to knock some things off my list but right now I'm interested in:

-all the MES (just love these)
-Glittery Nailpolish - I've recently come back to nail polish and buy way too much of it.
-Soft Sable Lipstick
-Eloquent Air lipstick
-Whirls and Twirls lipstick (maybe)
-How Beautiful Beauty Powder (maybe)
-Morning Frost Paint Pot

I keep getting confused about whether the sets are part of this collection or not.

Now for sets:
-Mineralize Brush set
-Sultry Eye set
-Warm Festive Face kit
-I like the Warm eyeshadow set but I may just wait for the CCO for this one.

haven't tried that one yet. I am so in love with illusoire, I didn't go back for anymore. LOL But mirifique looks a lot darker to me. The sparkles in FE remind of the sparkles in Illusoire.

Shades of u makes me want eloquent air, how beautiful and double spin, and whirls and twirls will be mine.

shimmermint is a little to shimmery for my taste.

I got to see the collection today, and somehow ended up preordering a bunch of stuff I may regret. Anyway, my thoughts...

Pleasure Principle vs Shazam dazzleglass: These are very similar, but there are two notable differences. Although both are sheer, Shazam does have a slight dark silver tint to it. On your lips, it will look mostly clear or may mute a liptone slightly. Pleasure Principle will go on totally sheer. As for the sparkles, Shazam's sparkles are mostly pink, whereas PP will have pink, blue, and purple. Reminds me of a clear version of Comet Blue. I preordered Shazam, but I may switch them out now.

Such Flare! lipstick: Surprisingly pretty. A true, matte red. I didn't order it cause I'm concerned that it'll look dry on my lips, but I'm starting to think that I should give it a try since I don't own any good matte reds.

What Joy! lipstick: Do you own a berry lipstick? Then you own this. Nothing special.

For Effect paint pot: So pretty! Dark gray with silver sparkle! I love a gray, smoky eye, and I would definitely use this stuff. Probably won't go on as opaque as you want, but it's still lovely and you can probably layer it.

Snow Globe beauty powder: This is very pale, cool pink. Reminds me of Prim & Proper, but maybe less sheer and more white? I ordered it, but I may cancel.

Festive Finery polish: Muddy purple! I love muddy colors. Great fall color.
