Mac Pro Palettes discussion

But...but....they don't line up precisely without the insert. That's just wrong. Chaos Theory gone wild.

I think I need the inserts as well. It's one thing to have them unaligned when I can't see them all the time. But seeing them in a disarray through the clear lids would drive me CRAZY!

And yes, i was at a f/s store. I dropped by to see if they had anymore old style palettes in stock and she showed me these instead. Definitely call your local store and find out!
Will do! This will be my first eye shadow palette. I was waiting until I got enough shadows to fill one up. I was about to get one of the old ones until I saw mention of the new design months ago. I'll try my hand at depotting once I get the palette. Then I'll have enough empties for my first B2M.

Thanks for the link, they look exactly like i had pictured so I am glad I have held off.

Looks like I am going to be purchasing these to make my own Mac Eyeshadow book and flip through my colour story every morning while I get ready :D

I dropped by the MAC f/s store after dinner tonight and saw the new palettes. I didn't have time to ask a lot of questions. I was so set on saving money by stocking up on the old style online, but I don't know if I can resist CLEAR LIDS! Trying to convince myself that I'll go crazy cleaning off powder dust all the time...
Haha, you probably will (and the rest of us too).

I'm glad people are feeling what I'm feeling. I want these new ones bc of the clear lids but I have 10 old palettes and 2 new ones still in their boxes and I can't just get one palette. the OCD in me would kick in so bad! ughhhh and the pro inserts are coming in sept so they didn't have the double decker ones to show me. question: if everyone switches to the new ones, what r u gonna do with ur old ones? can they be back 2 mac'd? LOL

I wonder if the double layer palette will have a clear lid or will the insert sit into the lid? Also, does anyone store their cream and mineralize blush in palettes? Do the creams dry out? Do the mineralize fit? I am going into palette overdrive!!!

Unless you make a palette filled with cream products and store them in the fridge, I wouldn't put them in there. They dry out really fast as we have seen with the CBB's in Pro pans.

For me, it's more of practical nature: If I travel and I want to take a Pro pan with me, I can fit it in there. But it's certainly not a longterm solution for cream products.

Sold! And this pic confirms that I do need to get the inserts. I don't want my shadow pans touching and I want them to be perfectly aligned.

nudibelle, you can still get them without being PRO. You can call and order them from any PRO store. You'll just have to pay for shipping and you won't get the PRO discount. If you're near a PRO store, you can just go in and buy them.

Wait, the new palettes are available at free standing stores? I was at one tonight and could've asked about them. I'll call tomorrow to see if they have them.
oh wow i did not know that
thanks so much

You can get these at a regular f/s store (and I'd imagine they'd be on the MAC website soon). The 12/24 inserts are only available at Pro stores, but you can walk in and pay full price for them (or call in an order if you don't have a Pro store near you). Thanks for linking the pics!
OOoO even better

This gives me hope! I'm nervous about messing up my shadows too and I could see myself spreading everything out for depotting surgery. What's the no heat method? I think I saw it mentioned on here before, but don't remember.

question: if everyone switches to the new ones, what r u gonna do with ur old ones? can they be back 2 mac'd? LOL
If I had old palettes, I would clean them up real nice and sell them. Not everyone wants to pay the higher price for the new palettes and some people would want them to match the palettes that they already have.

I just bought more of the old palettes; the new ones look nice but I'm just too cheap. LOL

I actually have NO MAC palettes! I have a Z palette w/ random brands and I was looking into UNII palettes but they were too $$$ for the size. I have a box full of e/s and blushes that I was supposed to depot months ago, but when I heard the rumors about the new MAC palettes, I held off. When I heard about the price difference, I bought a couple online, but now I'm being swayed by pretty clear lids...

So now, I'm at a crossroads of sorts. I could go either way. Go the cheaper route and buy old style palettes online or go the prettier route and buy the new style. Buying the new style without inserts isn't an option (for me) b/c they need to look pretty and perfectly aligned! My only concern with the old style is figuring out how many I need to buy. I definitely don't want to start w/ those and then end up having half old, half new sometime in the future. That would drive me CRAZY.
