The downside with black lash curlers is that you can't see your lashes very well while curling them. That's why I prefer silver ones, because they're more practical. Even though I like the look of black ones more, they're just so chic.

Liba, I have never tried MAC curlers, so I can't compare, but I have the Shu one and I absolutely love it. I also spent a stupid amount of money on the Chanel one (almost $60) and I was very disappointed with that one, it's just like a drugstore one to me. The biggest difference between the Shu and others I tried, and what makes it better, is that the two parts (I don't really know how to describe it in English, please bear with me, LOL) hold together more tightly and don't have any room to move. That's why it is more precise. And you also don't need to use as much pressure as you need with other ones. When I use the Chanel one my fingers hurt because I have to press harder to get a curl.
I am very curious to try other high end ones, but after the disappointment with Chanel I think I'll stick with Shu forever.

i totally love the way in which you describe the lippie, i really wanted the lippie to be kind of in the 3n family, but this one looks more sheer and glossy which makes me want it more.

i have a really hard time understanding bloggers, or people that question editorial beauty. like people saying that they'll never wear something from the runway, or the makeup that a model has on in a magazine. guess what?? your not suppose to. you are suppose to take that and be inspired by it. must bloggers dont give an f**** about trends and fashion and things like that.
but yes the bright side is that the lippie is going to be there for us to stock up!!

i think ill get the shimmery one.
Between you and me, there should be enough stock.

The combination of both kits reminds me of a newer version of my beloved Cloudy Afternoon, which will be perfect for Fall.

After seeing swatches i might skip this collection after all .. I prefer my lippies a bit more pigmented and the Desert kit looks okay, seems that i already have really similar colors in my stash tho.
Good news for me tho, more to spend on the Marilyn collection

I ordered the lippie and am going to try it myself before judging it. I think this might be one that would look good when you totally blank out your lip tone with concealer. I love lustre and glaze finishes because they let me natural pigmented lips show thru so I think I will love this one either way.

Want to know something funny? I only just tried out an eyelash curler this past year - they always looked too much like something out of A Clockwork Orange and it freaked me out. When the MA used it on me, I was so surprised it didn't hurt, LOL. It actually gave really nice results - did things for my lashes that just mascara can't.

The MAC curler seemed nice enough, but I've heard the Shu Uemura one is the best out there. Mac-Guy or anyone else want to weigh in and give some advice?
So much depends on the shape of your eyes to make or break a lash curler. I prefer MAC's half lash curler as it allows me more precision.

It's my favorite eyeshadow of ALL time. If I could marry it I would, it's the one.

I REALLY want to love tropical mist because I'm a sucker for packaging but I don't see myself paying that much for something that's colorless and drying :(

I think I am getting both palettes though

I wear lustre finish lipsticks all the time and I don't find them to be drying at all. I think that can vary from person to person.

I'm not sure either why T finds Lustre finishes drying. I actually find them more moisturizing than other finishes, but as Dreaming Dancer said, this might vary from person to person. I like them for the ease of application and the semi glossy finish.

Lustre's are my most used lippes (I'm looking at you 3 N & flamingo). Ah screw it I'll give it a shot. If I don't like it at least it'll look pretty in my collection

I like Lustre's a lot, but over time, some of them can dry my lips out a bit. It's nothing to get me all hot and crazy and stop using them, but I do notice it. I like that they are easy to apply, though. I'm gonna pass on the lipstick since it's pretty colorless, but I am curious about those palettes. Any swatches floating around?

I love it too. I already got two tubes and will get two more - at least.

I'm always irritated when people review products in a certain way without taking into consideration what this product is intended to look. MAC clearly describes this as, "Light and neutral with a polished, glazed finish, this exclusive Lipstick is custom-made to perfectly complement Carine Roitfeld's dramatically intense smoky eye looks."

Anyway, there is really no point in reviewing products when one lacks a basic understanding of fashion, style, and trend.* Those who follow the style of CR know that she is all about smokey eyes, but very neutral lips and no or barely-there blush. So from that perspective, the l/s fits the bill perfectly. To me, this l/s is great as it adds a hint of nude color without looking dead, it's glossy but not "p0rn star wet", and it's moisturizing.

There are quite a few of neutral color palettes ahead of us. While one might not be into these colors, it doesn't mean that they are bad. For example, personally, I don't wear or purchase colors like CYY. Would I give it an "F" or a "D" because they are too pigmented and bright for my personal taste? Certainly not! It would be great if reviewers would take into consideration for what look certain products will work. A CR collection would never have a bright lippie in it. It's just not her. Get educated before giving out bad grades.

The good news is that the l/s won't sell out immediately. Hoorray for that!

b/c of everything you said, I very rarely pay attn to a bloggers "review". I love blogs swatches, looks and etc... but not the grades. I always have to "see" for myself. and take time to learn what the product is "supposed" to do.

This comment is not only rude but just silly. Do you know anything about my, or any other blogger's, sense of fashion? This is simply a criticism of someone you know nothing about because they don't hold the same opinion you do. And you applying it to all bloggers that disagree with you does not fail to make it rude. You don't need to be the editor of Vogue to have the opinion that a clear lip product may not be worth $16.50...

Bloggers' opinions, photos, and reviews do not hurt you, and certainly should not personally offend you. So why do you feel the need to personally judge and comment about bloggers? Especially on a repeated basis and on multiple forums? You can share your thoughts and a valid opinion without making Specktra a place where you bash bloggers or other makeup lovers.
