MAC The Stylish Brow Collection Discussion (December 2012)

My Dirty Blonde Fluidline Brow Gelcreme (that name's a mouthful, whew!) arrived Thursday. I finally wore it yesterday.

I applied it with a brush with somewhat stiff, relatively short, synthetic fibers and a fine point. My natural eyebrows are quite thin/narrow as well as thin/sparse, and i just want to enhance their natural shape and make them show up, not make them "bigger" than they are. Since i can control the Fluidline well, i only add color where i have eyebrows. As far as application goes, i like it a bit better than the MAC powdered eyeshadow, Omega matte, and much better than the (non-MAC) eyebrow pencils i've been using.

As for color, Dirty Blonde appears to me to be darker than Omega, so i was uncertain about the look at first. But by the end of the day (after checking my brows several times) i decided it was ok - I'm just not used to very visible brows. I'm not saying Dirty Blonde is really dark - it's just that i've only been enhancing my brows for maybe 1-1/2 years, so i'm still a bit cautious. Dirty Blonde is also a warmer color than Omega which is a cool taupe. That was also a shift for me, but my dark brown hair naturally has auburn tones, so it was fine.

This Fluidline Brow Gelcreme certainly is stable, since it lasted from around 10 AM to around midnight, no smearing, no fading, yet was easy to remove.

I think this would be an excellent permanent item, because it works well and it is different from other products in the line.

Thanks for the heads-up. My eyes are already a bit sensitive, and i definitely don't want to get an infection.

Some years back I had a pretty nasty eye infection which developed into a corneal ulcer. It took a long time to heal but fortunately it left no lasting damage. Since then I've been super careful about eye makeup. If something starts to look/feel even a little bit off, it goes directly in the bin. I no longer use pencils on the waterline either. Sometimes I'm really tempted because I love the look but I wear contacts and I don't want to risk another infection.

thanks moonzie! i'm glad the pic helped! are you ordering online or going to a store?
i waited to go in store so that i could test it...i also found it looked a bit light in online swatches, but it turns out it's fine when it goes in my brows.
(my skintone's just a tiny bit darker - nc43 (darker in summer).
I ordered it off of Nordstrom. I haven't had a chance to look at it in store, and my usual counter was all out of stock before I had a chance to even think of going to the mall. I totally agree with you about online swatches. They all look very brown and don't have much black in them at all. I'll let you know if it works out for me, too!

went to play in mac today, and the MUA actually wanted to play in my brows. She agreed that the deep dark brunette was too dark and tried dirty blonde on me. It defined my brows nicely without creating the grouch marx look. I loved it.. Now to find it. LOL I thought ddb was too dark. My brows look black (but aren't), I'm nc 44/45 with dark brown hair for reference. Even the smashbox powder I use is a taupey brown color and not a dark brown. They will have to make these perm. Doesn't make sense not to.

Not to worry.

I was texting my daughter once when i was on a long road trip. I'd stop into a restaurant and ordered fried chicken. I'd gotten as far as typing "fried chi..." and my phone finished the word for me as "children". I can assure everyone, fried children were not on the menu.
I have seen fried children on a menu before.. LOL

I purchased Strawberry Blonde and Dirty Blonde. Although they are not the same colour, I hope I can use one to extend the tail and one to lightly shade my brow in without looking so dark >_<

Kinda OT, but...
if a gel eye liner gets too dry, would a drop or 2 of glycerine be good to use to try to get the old consistency back?
When I am near the end of a fluidline and I wanna use it up, I actually use eye drops with a sterile tool (dipped in alcohol).

I spray a couple of spritzes of FIX+ into my blacktrack when it starts drying out and when my paint pots start hardening up and it does the trick. I've also heard that mixing medium works really well also, but I don't have it due to it being a PRO product, so I'd have to order online.

I found these swatches online because I wanted to compare Deep Dark Brunette fluidline to Dipdown fluidline

From top to bottom
DDB,
Dipdown,
Quite Natural Paint Pot, not pop lol

So glad I went with DDB because it is lighter than dipdown, perfect for me :)

I'm confused about the status of the gel cremes. As far as I'm concerned, they were limited edition! however, I went to mac today to try and get a backup of DDB (which they were out of), and the MUA said not to worry they had already ordered more and will be receiving them in a couple weeks. Does that mean they will be made permanent, or are they just getting a restock?

I'm thinking there's going to be a restock. I base this on the fact that Nordies products are on backorder shipping at the end of the month.

Today I received an email about this collection and it recommended using the Fluidline gelcremes with the 263 brush. I'm a total brow novice. Does anyone know the difference between the 263 and the 208 and perhaps which may be better?

You've all done me in. I just ordered Dirty Blonde - it should be here tomorrow. I like the way my brows look with Indie Spirit, but the e/s doesn't seem to hold for the entire day on me. If DB isn't quite warm enough, I'll add just a touch of the IS while the fluidline is still damp.

I thought sure my DDB Fluidline would be here on Saturday but here it is Monday and it still hasn't arrived.

I don't have the 208 yet but I do have the 263. I use the 263 as an eyelining brush. I think the 208 is stiffer and may be a bit smaller. I might try my 263 with the brow fluidline but I think the 208 may be better because of the stiffness.
