MAC X The Return of Marilyn Monroe Collection Discussion (2013)

Actually there are companies that specialize in fakes - fake cosmetics, too. They usually sell in countries where a line is not so well known, but they show up a flea markets, too, so people think they're getting a good deal.
Oh I know, lol. Ever seen someone with a Cuggi purse? ;)

I meant that it's not a lot of money for the fakers to create an entirely different package so its not like MAC had the excuse of it costing too much to create something more inventive for the Marilyn collection.

I think that's one reason someone could be fooled by the product, if say you're someone not up on MAC and have heard your daughter/granddaughter lamenting about missing out on the Marilyn collection you'd assume that something that looks that professional was authentic.

I hate it when you go shopping kinda dressed down and casual and the sales associates friggin ignore you but when you show up dressed up in your Jimmy Choos they flock to kiss your a$$. That is my biggest piss off with Department Store counters:(
Lol, that's my test. I think its the dumbest thing to assume a customer isn't worth your time because they're not dressed up. Lots of people are running errands and actually have a LOT of money to spare then someone strolling in with the Choos. I don't wear makeup to go buy makeup, how else am I going to test something and see how it looks, and I sure don't wear my very best just to walk into 1 store in the mall.

I remember one time just getting nothing from an employee at one counter in Nordstroms and deliberately walking to the counter across from her. That lady was nice, cheerful, and I just spent as much money as I had planned to. Then I go, "Oh and could you get me that moisturizer from that counter? Just one, thanks." Lol, the sales associate at the other counter was practically chewing nails seeing all the things on the other ladies station vs. her barren area.

Lesson learned lady!

When I worked retail 20 years ago I was taught that EVERY customer should be greeted (even if that's the only thing you do.) It's the polite thing to do and cuts down on loss/theft. Because of this I am always offended if no one bothers to say hello. It literally takes seconds. Also, doing something 20 years ago makes me feel old.

 That is all. Carry on.
Agreed! I worked retail for 17 years and it pisses me off when i don't even get a hello! That's all i ask for when i go somewhere. I'm quite capable of helping myself, so no need for them to ask if i need help. But if i don't even get a hello, i let them know it!

Yup. I was listening to my good old L7 cd at work today. Nobody knew them of course. Then I tried to explain to them that that cd was from when I was 16, you know, nearly 20 years ago. Uhm... say what??? Seems like yesterday, yet in a few weeks I'm turning 36.

Yours sincerely,

Ye Old Bag

Ooo, some old school Lollapalooza tunes. I'm listening to Depeche Mode's Just Can't Get Enough and I swear it's seems like no one's heard of that song.
It seems like every time you see an movie/show on tv you look at the release year and go

as you start counting up the years on your fingers.

I couldn't name a single song, but I know they're a female band. One day I was on a date with a, a-hem, 60 y/o and the scanning radio found The Flaming Lips. I knew way too many words to "She Don't Use Jelly". His face:

Clearly you have just snuck into my office and looked at my 80s Alternative Radio station on Pandora. These have all played within the last 2 hours. Listening to Fascination Street right now! Just got done with the Psychedelic Furs.

The first time I purchased a ringtone for my phone 10 or so years ago it was Just Can't Get Enough. People thought I was wacked out. I also purchased Ludacris. Perhaps I am wacked...

I haven't had that experience at any MAC or department (at least JC Penny and Macy's) stores, but it happened once at Sephora. The ladies at Sephora thought I was going to shoplift because I brought my uni backpack with me to the mall. My pet peeve is when sales associates constantly ask if you want to have X store's credit card and come up with all sorts of persuasion skills for you to have the credit card.

*claps. Do "pretend that we're dead", "monster" or "everglade" ring a bell perhaps?
Yes I googled and recall that song a bit. Strangely, when I read "monster" my brain started playing, "Rock Lobster". Couldn't figure out why the B-52s were coming to mind and then thought on the connection: Fred Schneider's "Monster".

Haha. I haven't listened to TPF in months. I've such a broad taste in music that I sometimes forget about bands.

Do you know those movies like freaky Friday? That's exactly what has happened to Corally and me. Corally is an old soul in a young body and me feeling 18 when all my body wants is to head southwards, including those lashes with a mind of their own...
