So freaking shady. I'm so turned off right now and my products haven't even reached... The only thing I look forward to is Snapdragon and Rose Lily now. :(
I'm sending hugs for you babe... It's the low-buy curse! Lol
I hope everyone who is not happy with their MSFs returns them.
I def will!! No doubt!
Here's the thing: it may not look the same in the pan, due to a whole variety of issues, but the main thing is WILL IT LOOK THE SAME ON YOUR SKIN? When it's all blended together and applied, it doesn't look the way it looks in the pan anyhow. Frankly, I have a much earlier Stereo Rose from the 1st time it was repromoted and that thing is glittery and frosty and very old hat looking compared to the newer skin finishes that are so much more finely milled. If MAC does a new Stereo Rose that has all the benefits of the newer MSFs like Adored and Scene to be Seen, it's going to be a huge improvement, as far as I'm concerned. If you don't already have Stereo Rose, want it, buy the new one and like the way it looks on you, where's the problem? The repromoted Lavender Whip was far better on me, because it wasn't as chalky. I just don't think it pays to be outraged. Either you already have a ton of Stereo Roses and don't need another BU, or you do back it up now and won't need to open it for a while or you didn't have it before and will have a nice new MSF. If it's not exactly the same deep reddish orange shade of the older ones, there have been A LOT of other blushes and skin finishes that have come after that do what SR does, but better. I'm thinking about My Paradise, Modern Mandarin, Fiery Impact, Blazing Haute, etc. If you get it and don't like it, go ahead and return it or whatever. But even that's not worth being outraged. :grouphug: I like my Specktrettes to be happy, not angry mad volcano women. :D
Angry Mad Volcano Women! Lol I'm not mad that they are releasing possibly improved products. But I honestly believe MAC is purposely repromoting older coveted items to cash in on hype... Knowing full well these new versions are different. That's dishonest & false advertising IMO. So that's the aspect I find upsetting. I'm not mad at all. Just disappointed. And it will go back if it isn't as described & promoted. They will only stop this practice if customers stand their ground. I've bought lots of the newer MSFs. But they aren't selling out like they used to. So I feel this is a shady attempt to get people to buy something that MAC is not delivering. I just don't agree with that. I may have very well bought this new PT with a different name. But that's not what they did. So if it's not the PT I believe they've presented it to be. Back it goes! I'll love on my MSFs I love and keep the $ in my pocket. MAC shouldn't get it under those circumstances.

I'll admit it was wishful thinking on my part

Looking forward to your review!
I actually do not love my Hibiscus that much. I'm a little too fair to bring out it's best brightness and loveliness. It only really starts to look good when I've got my deepest tan and am also wearing bronzer. Its a color that comes to life best with medium to deep skin tones and just looks a little flat and pedestrian on very fair skin. Sail la Vie from Hey Sailor does for lighter skin what Hibiscus does on deeper, and there is always Scarlet Ibis, which is the most beautiful of them all for pale NCs (though not as orange/coral).

I'm actually starting to think that DD is going to be much better than Hibiscus for my skin tone and it's creeping up into my list. That's OK, because now that I'm seeing Snapdragon, I can tell that one is most likely to be a fail on me, so out it shall go.

I agree with this. Not to mention even in the original releases they weren't all perfect. I had a lightscapade that wasn't SUPER blue. Granted better then most new ones it still applied frosty and white. The originals I'm sure weren't all super purple. And the swatches look the same to me. But it is people's hard earned money so they should be happy. I thought pt was over hyped anyway and was a skip. I think everyone's swatches of the new one look beautiful. And for stereo rose it always looked too burnt for my liking. I like the lighter one it looks much more everyday wear for me

Well...now I don't know if I should feel bamboozled...or happy about my Perfect Topping...at first I wasn't bothered by my swirls, but now this thread is making me rethink that.
I'm feeling the same way.. I like it on my cheeks but I'm not sure if I should be happy that it's so different from the original lol I don't know if I should return it or not.

The sad thing is people want those old ones. The brand new MSFs, especially from this past year, are spectacular, and yet people didn't buy them. I cannot even understand how something as amazing as StbS is still hanging around on the site.

I'm sure MAC repromotes those old hyped up ones to cash in, no doubt about it. One thing I am pretty sure about is I don't think it's as simple to get that really veiny marbled look of the old MSFs if you are using the newest milling techniques - it just grinds the pigments too fine to marbleize in that way; so there is definitely a trade off. If MAC had released this one and had called it Quadrophonic Rose, instead of Stereo Rose, would people be as interested in it? I'm thinking no, even if it's better. Maybe if people revolt against repromotes that aren't vintage technology, MAC will come up with a new way of marketing them. Personally, I think repromoting a color and calling it Stereo Rose 2.0 or Nouveau Stereo Rose or what have you, and playing up the tech advances "Smoother! More Even! Easy to Blend!" would be a great way to do things, but it won't satisfy everyone, that's for sure.

I think that would be a great idea. If you don't have an expectation of what it's supposed to be, there won't be a reason to be upset.

I think outrage might be a bit of a stretch. Most of us are just disappointed that they aren't the same and even swirled all together, aren't comparable. I wanted to BU SR and while they look totally different in the pan and applied, I like the new version, I just wished they'd give it a new name or something as it's much lighter than the original and doesn't give me the same color that My other SR does!

Hey, if you love the way it looks, that's the most important thing! Old isn't always better in the world of makeup. Another thing about old Stereo Rose - it wasn't that long lasting - it'd fade pretty quick. I bet this new one will have better lasting power like the newer MSFs have been having.
