I used to work at a head shop, for anyone not familiar we sold smoke shop stuff, water pipes, lol, for tobacco wink wink. this was when i was 19 now im about to be 31. Now pot is legal in wa but not then so you had to use the right wording lol. and we also sold sex toys and lube and stuff like that. Well the law is you CANNOT return a sex toy, so i had to open them and put batteries in to show it worked then once they bought it it was theres. And im sure we can all see why!! Well some ppl didnt like that and would still try to bring stuff back. And the pipes and water pipes lol bong. they would use it then try and return it all the time. it was funny having to explain how to use vibrators to really elderly men, who wanted to bring one home for there wife hahaha. Then there was a guy who came in every week to buy a blow up doll, but he had to see the hair first. it had to be red hair. And my coworker was a red head and he would flirt with her hahahaha. that job we had fun laughing all the time!!!  And i hope that at least half the stuff is new. i will take briar rose BP and sweet revenge lipglass again!! But i hope it isnt mineral shadows like last time. Im over those.
Aww I love your tales! That's well funny. Yeah as much as those mineralize shadows looked nice they'd just be a muddy mess on my eyes. I'd love a briar rose though! VV launched when I'd only just started wearing higher end makeup. I knew it was due out, but I never thought to research on the web prior to releases! And I didn't know anything about limited quantities. I was working in topshop the day it launched. One of the trendy girls came in the break roomannd said it had all sold out, bummer! Liverpool girls like their evil queens ;)

Im glad u enjoy my shenanigans lol. and topshop huh. i been wanting to try some of the lipsticks and glosses!!! they look nice and cute packaging and names. yes i was at the mall right when they opened for that collection. I think i bought almost all of it lol. that was a expensive trip. i wish i had bought more. i got the pinky purple mes and i sold it on ebay i jus didn't like it. When mineral baked shadows first came out i liked them, but since then better things have come out that are not as breakable and work better i feel.

Same here. If I buy, I'll keep it - unless it is defective. If in doubt, I'll pass.

PS: I'm sorry that you have to deal with annoying customers who abuse the return policy. It would drive me nuts.
Thank you.. it's always fun to sit back and laugh, I deal with many cuckoos.

I work at Von Maur and we pretty much have a no questions asked return policy. It's the worst. And I work in the dress department. I actually had a lady today return a gown that she wore to a ball yesterday and it was so obvious it was worn. It annoys me... bottom line if you don't want to pay the price don't come into a high end store. If my sales goal wasn't soo much and I didn't have to keep up with it to not get fired I would care less and just think how embarrassing it is for the person but I literally want to strangle people haha. I personally never return anything- If I buy something I know I'm keeping it.
I'm the same way! And I've been on your end of it as well. I've worked at cosmetics counters and had some truly irritating return situations. I remember one woman was returning an eye pencil because it "wasn't sharpening right anymore". It was down to little more than a nub. I asked her if she wanted to exchange it for a different eye pencil and she said yes. I asked her if she knew what kind she wanted and she said she wanted THE SAME ONE. So she wasn't happy with the way the pencil was sharpening, but she wanted to get another one? If there was something wrong with it, that would be one thing, but there wasn't a thing wrong! AND she said she wanted the same pencil because she's been wearing it for the past 10 years. In my head I was like "And you probably only paid for it the first time you bought it and you've been exchanging for new ones ever since."

Love a good return policy, but I agree that they can get VERY abused sometimes. No wonder it's so hard for stores to make money anymore.

Personally, I've only ever returned 2 makeup products. One was a set of MAC pigments (the chunky kind) that did not look at all in person how it looked online. After that, I stopped buying makeup online unless I was sure I would like the color. The other was a Diorshow mascara. It just cost way too much money to justify keeping it when it did zilch for my lashes. I would've returned a YSL mascara too because it made my eyes sting like hell by the end of each day, but I didn't make the connection that it was the mascara causing the problem until after a couple of weeks wearing it, and by then I had tossed the box. In my 12 years or so of being a makeup hoarder, I think that's a pretty good track record.

I have no problem at all returning something. I have to order most things online, as I live in the middle of nowhere. I only order something with the intent to keep it, but if it is not what I expected it's going back. It would be lot easier if cosmetic companies would offer samples, I would happily pay for them. All I can do is research my behind off, google for reviews and swatches - if it still doesn't work for me I don't feel bad returning it if I can. When I first got into MAC I used to keep foundations that I ordered that were too dark, but I don't want to waste my money like that anymore.
I understand both sides though, I've worked in retail as well. And I agree there are some people who abuse the return policy, I have seen crazy things.

I return too if something didn't work out how I wanted it too.

Oh god I have to deal with a bunch of ignorant people all the timeee. I swear sometimes I just want to punch them in the face. If people would just read receipts, the policy is clearly stated right there. :sigh: someone literally asked me "well who reads the receipt", I had to really refrain from being a smart ass at that point. I swear I can't stand dealing with some people.

I used to get pissed off because half the time the people who were pulling the returns stunts were complete douche canoes to begin with, they would come in with crap attitudes right off the bat because they knew they were fixing to pull something over on you. I once opened up a box to find a bunch of electrical fittings tossed into what was supposed to be a lantern. Did it get refunded? Yep! Between the jerk customers who'd stand there and scream at you when you refused to return their wheelbarrow that had spray paint all over it and cement in it with no receipt. That guy actually called us all suckers as he threw his money in his wallet. It was the crap like that that would piss me off. Not people bringing in stuff because it wouldn't work or whatever. But the jerk off scammers.
Man, I didn't realize customers were so bogus... (I take that back, I hate ppl b/c of my job)    But why would it piss you off?

I'm amazed you all worked at places that would allow these things. That's what security is for. Kick those mofos right out of the store.

Oh if only it would of been allowed! My store basically let customers do whatever they wanted to unless they stole or got violent. They could yell and cuss you out pretty much all they wanted to and get away with it. I didn't like how the upper management handled the store I worked at which is the main reason why I left.

Yes thats why i left my old job at sally beauty too. I was assistant manager so i got the jobs the GM didnt want plus the DM was a evil mentally and verbally abusive tyrant. I seen here belittle the last GM and i knew i NEVER wanted to be promoted to a GM cuz salary, i worked 40 hrs a week GM worked 75 or 80 always. so the morale of the store was so poor. There was even a bitchy russian lady who would come in and yell and i wasnt there but she threw a big bottle of developer at my GM and the DM apologized to the russian lady and said she could call her directly if there was a issue!! I mean u have to back up your employees when they feel threatend it was total bs.

But having to deal with assholes... I can relate. I actually really do hate people.

Oh no!! That customer deserves a slap in the face for that! I have delt with customers that are so rude and obnoxious, especially the ones that want to be on the phone having a convo about something else and you're trying to help them. SMH!

OR what about the really really really close talkers?? the ones where u try to inconspicuously back up and they lurk closer and closer til your backed into a wall or corner!!!! And some of them aren't very hygienic. One lady did that to me once and then pro ceded to tell me about how the huge open juicy wounds on her face were MRSA omg i almost died. I'm a really nice and polite person but i get sick really easy and i respect others space and do what i can to keep my germs to myself. And there was this lady who when i talked mouthed while i talked like she was saying what i was saying and i would get all distracted and try not to laugh. My grandma does that. Like if its something important or your telling her about a bad day she mouths while u talk and i lose track of what i was saying its crazy. I was surprised she isn't the only weirdo who does that!!!!!
