I moved from Atlanta to Irvine, CA in 2003. My Apt. Went from 950 sq feet to 705 and my rent went from 735.00 to 1100.00. Four years later the rent went up to 1600.00. Location, location, location...

The pricing of homes is why my sister moved to Atlanta. She wanted more bang for her buck and still be in a "city" sort of environment.

I love NYC to death. Greatest city in the world. Fight me. However, cost of living is not a game. When they say if you can make it in NYC, you can make it anywhere, they are not playing.

My boyfriend and I need to just stay in VA and just visit his Jersey family a little more. I would rather drive out of my way to go places than spend all my money on rent.

Preach!!!
I feel though that NYC paid you to compensate for the increase in prices everywhere else. I find that in South Florida prices are going up and the pay rates stay the same.

jersey (especially north) is expensive. i could find an awesome 3 bedroom for 1100 in south jersey, but 1200 will barely get you a one bedroom up here

i agree , but when you live in the city all your life its hard to make a change to a suburban town or city you get more for the money you spend but then you also have to get use to driving everywhere and not walking to the corner store to get a greasy beacon egg and cheese
