Yesterday, my 17 month old finally figured out how to open doors, smuggled my altered beige lipstick( my HG favorite lipstick I have ever owned)out of my purse and by the time I realized it, I was listening to the sound of a "plunkkkk" in the master bathroom toilet bowl.... It was tragic. I learned my lesson... Backups upon backups upon backups. I will be on Dr.Phil in 10 years explaining why the hoarding started and start to cry on stage as I recall June 20, 2014
I've only lost 2 lipsticks and you know what, neither of them were mega-favorites. I think that's why I lost them - because my treasured ones I'm very, very careful about. And one of the ones I lost got repromoted and made perm, LOL. Better in the long run to take steps to protect your fave lipsticks rather than going to the stress and expense of a lot of BUs, imo. What I do is I normally have a special small pouch for my lipstick when I'm bringing it out with me, so that if I use it, I need to make sure it goes back in it's pouch and then back into my purse. I'll also do stuff like use a lip pencil underneath if I'm going out to something potentially wild where a lipstick could go missing, skip bringing the lipstick and just bring a lesser lipstick or a matching gloss for touch ups. Finally, the lipsticks I lost were I'm pretty sure all applied in a rush in my car while stopped at a red light and then didn't go back in my purse, etc. So I just make a point about that particular situation to be extra careful. Anyhow, I better mosey to the low buy thread for any more chit chat about all this. I've got my perspective, but others have their own perfectly good reasons if they want to BU. I've always just been a bit of an anti-enabler (but not always, hehe).

Totally agree! I've backed up a few things recently but only after I've worn them a few times between the online and store releases. That week is usually enough for me to decide if it's worth making the trip to the store to get an extra. I've only ever finished a couple of products and repurchased them and they were things I use almost every day. I really like that "once a week" rule! I'm going to add that to my list of questions to ask myself before I back up. Thanks!
This whole year I've only BU'ed 2 lip products: One was Spontaneous patent polish, since it's an HG MLBB color and I keep it in my purse at all times for on the go, everyday lips and the other was Playful Petal csg, because I'm a huge sucker for purple sparkle iridescent gloss and I didn't BU my last version of that particular type and I'm almost through with the tube (Butterfly Dream plushglass) That's a basic, everyday in the spring and summer, no-brainer lip for me, too. Even still, I wound up using Playful Petal for months off and on before I figured, hmmm it's still on the site, maybe I should snag another while I can. I'm going to BU Moody Bloom SS, because again, it's easy enough for regular, daytime use and is just simply beyond fabulous.

A color like Playland which I adore and wear very often when I go out at night, I STILL didn't BU, because it's not a general, everyday use type of color. Even wearing it out twice a month or so, I am never going to get through that tube or if if 6 months from now, I see it truly has dwindled down to less than half, I'll be able to find one in the CB or a CCO, or I'll just find something new and shiny and move on. I definitely need time with certain colors before I will decide it's BU worthy, but that usually works to my advantage.

Wow, sorry to hear it! I don't have kiddos running around being little devils, but besides a BU, you could keep your most beloved items in a train case that has a lock? Hehehe, I'm in the anti-enabling crusader super hero mode today, oh boy oh boy!!!

Don't mind me, lol.

I have all of my stuff put up, but I kept it in my purse because I wear it pretty much every day. It was my fault for leaving my purse on the floor

That's pretty good! For color products I've backed up 4 - Aphrodite's Shell and Siren Song from AA just because they were so gorgeous and I reach for them both a few times a week. I also find it hard to find bronzer and nude lipstick that I like on my skintone. And both glosses from Pedro because I haven't seen many in those colors and in a formula I like. I'd usually rather have two slightly different items than a backup because I'm fickle. :)

It seems our favorite TM on IG has found info about the matte lip collection. Has it been mentioned any where other than here?

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned elsewhere, but our favorite TM has definitely been trolling around and has posted other info from other new threads as well. It's likely that she got the info (or at least some of it) from here. I actually don't think it is one person but several, which makes it all the more difficult to stop!

There are a couple of things I really go through that I'll more commonly BU. Fluidlines and colored mascara get BUs when they're the right colors, because those get major use. I've only BU'ed powder products 2-3 times, for Elude (almost ready to break into the BU), Forever Marilyn and Centre of Attention. If they'd bring Lush Light Bronze back, that's one bronzer I'd get a BU of, since mine is half used now. I've never BU'ed a blush once, even though I've been tempted here and there. I just know I will never get through it, although my At Dusk is half gone. I could have gotten a new one with Magnetic Nudes, but held back and now here we have Fun Ending coming down the pike. That will replace At Dusk very nicely, so I can stay on my no blush BU thing.

I was tempted to BU Mirror, but I held off - those two are so nice, I have a feeling they'll just come back again, or something very similar to them will.

i dont even want kids. i remember what i did to my moms makeup. she had a estee lauder book that is basically like the counter samples in a book. I was a baby and crawled out of my crib and took that awesome book of purple and blue frosty eyeshadows and red and hot pink lipsticks and painted my mother, father, and myself, destroying the whole thing. Now i can say that is when my makeup obssession started. i remember doing it too haha. so i know kids would do that to my treasure trove!!! but i didnt want kids anyway.... jus fur babies.

I think Altered Beige or something very very similar will be out again soon. Did you check out the photos of Myself lipstick, that's coming with A Novel Romance? It's also a Lustre and the shade looks very close. I think there will be a happy ending!!!

The only cheek product I've backed up is AS bronzer, and it's my only bronzer so I'm guaranteed to go through it (as long as I don't buy more). Never backed up a blush either.. I think that's a good call if you rotate them. I've got enough to last me a couple of decades already and there are a few from the fall collections that I'm trying to choose between. :) I would love to finish one occasionally.. but I don't know if that will ever happen.

One backup in my life -- Feed The Senses lipstick. One in my stash, one in my purse.
That's impressive! I can see why.. it looks gorgeous.. I cut myself off from buying makeup at the time so I didn't even know it came out but if it gets re-promoted it's mine!

I've only backed up 3 things: Fun Fun lipstick (just now barely finishing the first one, but I do use it quite frequently so I'm glad I have another). 2. Nanogold eyeshadow, from when it first came out... It looks like it's been repromoted since then and I wish so hard that I had known because I would have bought at least 3 more. I accidentally crushed my backup and now I have nothing!

I would do anything for another one. 3. Mothbrown from Barbie. I think it's been repromoted as well? I miss it. I also crushed that backup (I had them in a quad and the quad got loose during a move and it died).

Actually, I also backed up Melrose Mood lipstick, but I decided I hated it, so I gave both of them to a friend.

I bu Tangerine Dream, Party Parrot, Pink Friday, both Gaga VG and Nicki 1 vg. The one blush, Enchanted One was my most recent bu. Lots of Solar White bu, Butterscotch got bu, Hoop lipstick bu, Toying Around bu, and lots of bu of Beluga and Deep Cravings es haha. i have more than that but those are the ones i really remember going out of my way to bu. also Seranade lipglass has many bu, not even sure how many and the Archies girls lipglasses all bu also. i dont bu very often, it has to be a basic i know i will use a lot, or something that was hard to get and i really like.
