Yesterday, my 17 month old finally figured out how to open doors, smuggled my altered beige lipstick( my HG favorite lipstick I have ever owned)out of my purse and by the time I realized it, I was listening to the sound of a "plunkkkk" in the master bathroom toilet bowl.... It was tragic. I learned my lesson... Backups upon backups upon backups. I will be on Dr.Phil in 10 years explaining why the hoarding started and start to cry on stage as I recall June 20, 2014
I've only lost 2 lipsticks and you know what, neither of them were mega-favorites. I think that's why I lost them - because my treasured ones I'm very, very careful about. And one of the ones I lost got repromoted and made perm, LOL. Better in the long run to take steps to protect your fave lipsticks rather than going to the stress and expense of a lot of BUs, imo. What I do is I normally have a special small pouch for my lipstick when I'm bringing it out with me, so that if I use it, I need to make sure it goes back in it's pouch and then back into my purse. I'll also do stuff like use a lip pencil underneath if I'm going out to something potentially wild where a lipstick could go missing, skip bringing the lipstick and just bring a lesser lipstick or a matching gloss for touch ups. Finally, the lipsticks I lost were I'm pretty sure all applied in a rush in my car while stopped at a red light and then didn't go back in my purse, etc. So I just make a point about that particular situation to be extra careful. Anyhow, I better mosey to the low buy thread for any more chit chat about all this. I've got my perspective, but others have their own perfectly good reasons if they want to BU. I've always just been a bit of an anti-enabler (but not always, hehe).
