Wow! That sounds like employee error! Even if you dont have your receipt, but you have the customer return label on the product, you can still get a full refund because the CRL pulls up your transaction. The people you were dealing with sound like they didn't know policy!
It was just one girl and she usually gives me attitude unless I buy something. All of the MAC employees at the counter nearest me are mostly pleasant except for her. What she doesn't realize is her stank attitude is what turns me off from buying from her. I know they don't make commission but I don't want to buy from someone who just isn't friendly out the gate. I will come back later or even another day and wait for another employee to buy it from instead of being talked down to and made to feel dumb. I think it's because I'm small and look like a high schooler or something so she thinks I'm just making her work and I'm not gonna buy. But even if I was, she needs to do her job with a smile on her face because it is what she is being paid to do. I'm always polite either way but it bothers me. Like how stupid do you think I am? I won't get a full refund because I didn't buy the item at THIS counter? Try again

I've worked retail and even though people got on my nerves I never was disrespectful or dishonest to them. It wasn't necessary. If someone got out of line I called a manager because that's what they get paid extra for. My main problem was that she lied and gave an attitude even though I was polite despite it all.

I'm going to try anyways, I guess. I'll just be nice and firm. I don't want to wait 2 weeks for $32. To me, that's incredibly silly on MAC's part. I don't understand this policy. I feel like most stores now a days you can return online purchases in person. I didn't know that was still considered a "perk"
I had the return label and the printed online receipt that came with the box as well as my item in the box. It was that Toledo mascara. I got sucked in by the wand but the mascara ended up sucking. I guess my lashes are too short and sparse for it. Anyway they gave me my refund.

I have a heavier outer lid and my eyes are sorta uneven. One is more hooded than the other so I barely even try anymore. But I bought some of those Sephora velvet liner stickers and I used them as a stencil. It worked out great but it took too long so I'll only use it when I have time.

Is this true for MAC stores and MAC counters in department stores?

I have often wondered the situation but can not figure out a polite way to ask. I have had a SA spend a lot of time with me and then come back and they aren't there to ring up the purchases. If they don't get commission I can stop stressing about it.

Thank you.

My Nordies ETA always gives a far off date, but then it usually arrives 3 days early.
Yeah I know, I was just being mean

. I order from them too much not to know that. Yikes! I don't think mine are ever a whole 3 days earlier though. Maybe 1 or 2. They usually ship from IA and I'm in NYC. The fastest shipment I ever got from them was that phone order for BBW from the MA store. I got it next day and nearly cried.

From what I've heard I don't think any MAC employee makes commission anywhere except for Nordstrom but it is Nordstrom paying the commission, not MAC the company. But if you don't want to ask an employee just say that you'll wait for them to ring you up because you don't want someone to get their commission. They'll most likely correct you and let you know what's up lol.

I didn't even know that about MAC!! Probably because I've never been displeased... I like that I can order from Nordstrom and return to Nordstrom Rack. There aren't any Nordstrom's near me.
Thanks for the info! I didn't know that. I know if you order MAC from Macy's you can return it to a Macy's MAC counter. Usually if I'm not sure about a MAC item, I try to go to the store and try it first but it's always good to know the different return policies.

I went to return something at MAC in Macy's that I bought online and they said that I could return it but I might not get the full refund because I bought it online instead of in store. Then they tried to turn me away but I was like naw girl you will process this return. I'm not waiting two weeks for a $20 refund. Anyway it went through at full price and I just told them to put it on a store card since I'd end up spending it there anyway. Then the girl wants to act nicer about it after I put it on the store card. Idk if she didn't want to process my return or if it is hard to refund stuff not purchased in store and she didn't want to deal but just press a little and see what happens. As for only getting a partial refund because I didn't purchase it from that store that sounded like bull and idk if that is even true but it just didn't sound right.
I went through an ordeal at Footlocker recently because I paid online using Paypal and wanted to return in store. It was like an uproar. It couldn't be done, but I made a stink and got a gift card from corporate. LMAO. I said I would never use PP again with a retailer with a physical store. I tend to order from those stores the most online so I can return in store if I need to. I hate mailing shit back, free or not.

yes if you use paypal they can't process return in store
Most of the retailers are like that. I think it even says when you checkout that if you use paypal you have to mail it back

for macys it is absolutely NOT TRUE that if you ordered online and return in store you do not get the full amount back. That is ridiculous!

Yes I know, but it's still annoying, lol. Aeropostale did it for me once in a store though. There are ways around it, it just depends on how sr the person is at that cash.

You absolutely can return for free for MAC.com.....Maybe it's a new thing, though, because I received this in my email:

So boo for hassle of needing to go through mail, but at least you're not stuck with product you don't want or having to pay for return shipping. Really excited to hear you like MM....mine arrives today!! I also got Puttin' on the Spritz.

BTW-Hi!!! New to MAC, new to Specktra, and have been lurking through the last few days before launch. I got a way too big haul, but as a newbie, I didn't have almost anything.

The phrasing the Mac employee used sounds like a decorated way of saying she is still required to make certain sale goals...similar to commission. I do know rules are different in department stores than the stand alone stores... So I could be claiming wordplay when there really isn't any.

it must be, because the mac rep I spoke with YESTERDAY said she would take care of my return shipping since the product was defective...i don't think she got the memo :eek:hboy:

She helped me with something and I was waiting on her to ring me and she told me no it's fine someone else can do it. I told her that I want her to get commission when she explained she doesn't get any but she needs to make her goals.
