I don't think that that is true at all. There is no reason that people who commit crimes against other people, especially children, can be stripped of their rights or have very limited rights. They didn't care about the rights of their victims...why do they deserve rights?

Because we all deserve those rights. Who is to decide when you no longer deserve your basic rights? Who will decide the master list of crime that warrant stripping people of their rights. Nations have traveled down this road before, including our own; I do not believe what is gained is worth what is lost. We care about their rights, because that is how our society is structured. They don't care about the rights of their victims because they are insane or a sociopath or fill in the blank.

I understand this is an emotional subject that hits close to home, but this is often when we need to be more vigilant. When we feel our children and loved ones are threatened, we tend to react viscerally. We need to remind ourselves that our laws are in place to protect all of us, even this bag of pus.

Self-described pedophile blogger arrested
Police detain man, 45, outside university child care facility in Calif.

Updated: 36 minutes ago
LOS ANGELES - A man who blogs about his attraction to young girls but says he doesn’t touch them was arrested Monday near a university child care facility with a camera, police said.

Jack McClellan, 45, who is unemployed and lives out of his car, was arrested at 1:40 p.m. at the University of California, Los Angeles, campus police said in a statement. He was arrested near the university’s Infant Development Program, which provides onsite care for children 3 months to 3 years old and serves faculty, students and staff, according to the university’s Web site.

McClellan violated a restraining order requiring him not to loiter or congregate within 30 feet of minors, police alleged. He was released and scheduled to appear in court Sept. 13.

Phone and e-mail messages seeking comment from McClellan were not immediately returned.

Web site taken down
McClellan created waves in Southern California upon arriving earlier this summer from Washington state, where he had lived with his parents.

For years, McClellan maintained a Web site in Washington where he posted photos of children he had taken in public places. He also discussed how he liked to stake out parks, public libraries, fast-food restaurants and other areas where little girls, or “LGs,” congregate.

McClellan’s server took his Web site down over a month ago. He said in an interview a few weeks ago that he wasn’t sure whether he would try to put it back up.

McClellan, who said he lives on supplemental security income and suffers from depression, has maintained that he launched the site as a form of therapy and wouldn’t do anything illegal.

I swear...if I would have ever come up on him taking pictures and such of little kids, I would have given his camera a new home: right up his ass!! i would have gone to jail, but it would have been so worth it. He is a putrid piece of crap.

Last night on the news they were talking about this, and the anchor brought up a good point. He proposed that the media frenzy this guy is causing could be a cry for help. He knows he's disturbed and needs to be off the streets before he DOES do something.

And as far as freedom of speech goes, I also think there needs to be a line drawn somewhere too. It's one thing to have scat, foot, or whatever fetishes...be a swinger, screw a stuffed animal...I don't care. When young children are involved, there needs to be some type of protection. We protect them from R-Rated movies but we can't protect them from possible creeps reading how to scope them out so they can take up skirt shots on the playground? I won't argue about that, that's how I feel. End of story.

And Giz, I doubt you would see much jail time for shoving his camera up his butt...

Even prisoners don't like child molesters.
