I met my boyfriend on Oasis newsgroup (kinda like a forum, but not) in 1997. I had written something funny, and he emailed me about it.. and ended up sending me an ICQ invite. I couldn't get the damn thing to download, haha, so he sent me the installation file via email. We ended up chatting every now and then, and I didn't see anything more to it.. I was a girl who had never dated in her life.. AND.. he lived in England. I lived in Canada. We became really close, to the point where we were talking everyday, and sometimes talking on the phone for a bit as well.. and he sent me a Valentine's present!
The next summer, my Aunt was going to England on a trip.. and my Mom bought airfare for me to go with her.. my Mom spoke to Tim's Mom about me staying with them for a few days since Tim and I were so close, and it was allowed.. but we were both given speeches on unacceptable behaviour..
haha
So.. I ended up visiting him for 4 days, we hit it off really well.. he was my first kiss and he told me loved me.. to which I replied 'me too'
It was really wonderful, but after I was back home, and reality of me having another year of high school left, and he was just going into college.. we realised that there was no hope in hell and decided to stay friends!
So we kept in touch for years, the only thing we never talked about was our relationships we were having, but we discussed everything else.. we didn't speak as much as we used to but still kept in touch.
Last March, the girl he had been dating for like.. 7 years broke up with him.. and even though I was dating someone, I was really unhappy.. I felt I had to say something. I waited until August, to make sure he was over the other girl.. and asked him if he thought we would still be together if we had lived closer.. and we got into this big huge discussion about how we both still had feelings, and that we would have been together all this time had it not been cos of the distance.
He said he wanted to visit me right away, but since I was dating someone else, I said no. However, it was a bad relationship with someone who used me for my money, and always put me down.. it was only a few months before I realised this, and broke up with him. When I told Tim, he asked me if he could come visit me over Christmas. We spent a week together, and it was so amazing, it was like we picked up right where we left off the last time we saw one another.
I visited him in March, and he visited me again in June.. and I moved over here on a two year visa in August.. we're living with his roommate right now, but we are going to be moving into our own apartment on Sept 21.. I can't wait
Sorry for such a long post!
