As a fellow Aussie I have to say I love Dame Edna (or Barry Humphries is the man behind the makeup) and I'd love to see what gorgeous colours MAC would come out with. Dame Edna is all about tounge in cheek humour, not taking yourself or life to seriously and is completely unconventional. I think makeup is a great way to express that way of thinking and I'd love to see her become an icon for just that

Well, I'm not really feel'in the Dame Edna vibe for a color story, sorry all

don't be mad..lol. For me personally if I'm going to take a color advice from a man to look like a woman, Dame Edna would not be on my list. Chose someone who makes me think, "Damn, he looks better than me.. I want to look that good!"..lol.

I agree with the following suggestions, Joan Jett, Tina Turner and I think Pat Benatar would be cool and definitely a Tribute to Marilyn collection would be classic.

P.S....Dame Edna is not the Icon...she is just represented in a collection that anniversaries the Originals collection.....found that out today...

Exactly! So I see the same spirit in having Dame Edna represent this collection this time around.

Zelda Kaplan for Mac Originals Collection 1 (promo image)

Dame Edna for Originals Collection 2 (not the promo image, just a general one)

I think Dame Edna is a good choice. He's fun, different and it shows you don't have to be serious with makeup. I don't know, I think he was a good choice. And of course he represents their slogan too.

And I think poutine is amazing. The gravy makes it or breaks it though.

There is no gravy in existence good enough to make that stuff good, yo.

In reality, I know lots of people that like it - I just know I'm not one of them.

Given Dame Edna's hair, it would be crazy to NOT have any purple!

I would like to go on record and announce my unwavering love and loyalty to all things drag. What drag lovin' makeup devotee could object to a Dame Edna MAC collection?!?!?!?...Certainly not THIS drag lovin' makeup devotee!!!! Just when I thought MAC is the best company in the world, they do something that makes me giddy with joy AND they prove me right!! MAC IS THE BEST!!!! Now I will say, my one wish that cannot be fulfilled by the Great MAC counter in the sky is an Icon Collection featuring Tammy Faye.

However, Dame Edna sure goes a very long way to soothe my ache!

On a serious note, can I just say how much I appreciate MAC's ongoing commitment to celebrating every kind of person and lifestyle. Perhaps Dame Edna is not your cup of tea (unintentional pun), but I am sure that you would still agree this dame is an unconventional choice for any cosmetics company to devote a line of products to. This kind of bold statement about how beauty can be defined, allows other unconventional or often ignored groups of people to be bold and live with a greater conviction that change is not only possible but it has arrived. I was morbidly obese for many years and the MAC counter was one of the only places I could go in the mall and be treated with kindness like any other customer. To me, Dame Edna makes an important contribution to makeup/beauty equal to a Raqual Welch or Liza Minelli. The tone of Dame Edna's message is slightly different, in that Dame Edna's iconic status is fueled by promoting individuality and unabashedly being who and what you want to be. If you ask me, nothing is more glamorous than defining yourself and living unashamed and uncompromised. So Dame Edna, rock on whichya bad self (and while you're at it, make a fierce eye pallette or quad with plenty of BN-LE colors)!

WOO HOO!!!!

I think Dame Edna is a great choice for the Originals collection and I can't wait to see what they come up with for this one.

And I will also go on record as one of the party poopers and say that I don't think we are going to get an Icon this year.

Dame Edna is also really awesome in terms of MAC giving some love to all the men that wear there makeup! Not that im a man but i'm sure drag queens and men in general around the world have been supporting MAC for years.
