MAC A Fantasy of Flowers Collection (February 6, 2014)

Thanks PixieDancer. I think there just comes a point for each person. I was cleaning up my house when I was home for the "snow storm" a couple of days last week and I was literally disgusted by the amount of makeup I have. I kept finding bags and bags of stuff that I have never opened and use. I have stuff from as far back as the Felines Collection and Surf Baby that are in pristine, untouched condition. I often fall into a rut where I wear the same things over and over. For instance, during the week I only carry my brown neutrals (saddle, cork, brown script, embark, etc.) and my Naked 1 palette and do my work looks. I can play on the lip color but even then I have been sticking to my RiRi Woo/Strawberry Melt combo and Heroine lp/Something New ls/Girl About Town lg combo. The RiRi collections and the outselling of almost every lipstick just began to drain me. I'm also in my career now. I can't leave a courtroom or my client to say that the new MAC collection just came out and I have to race to Dillard's.  I'm just over it. If it's not there when I get off it just wasn't meant to be. Oh, I also make myself actually wait and try things on. I have way too many purchases just sitting around because I liked them online and in swatches on others but then hate it on me.
Wow! I'm so motivated by your story and success! Seriously... If you have an extra moment PLEASE go share on the low-buy thread! We could use that sort of positive talk over there! We have all set personal goals to help us thru 2014... To reassess where we are, and more importantly, where we need to be! All the positive stories always help! I'd be very grateful. And if you're looking to swap or sell off your leftovers (like we are all trying to get the courage to do) we also have a swap/sell thread that's focused on our group! Also... Congrats on all your life success as well! I think it's important to see that accomplishing things that have brought you TRUE satisfaction have helped you (or anyone) achieve success and satisfaction in other areas. One thing I've learned on the low-buy thread is that personal stress and life set backs are really the culprit in some of the hoarding and overspending. It's nice to know that those times will and can pass! Hope life continues to reward your hard work & focus on your goals!!! Bravo!

Well said.  I know some of us feel this way too.   I know I do, thus the low buy system is the way to go for me.  I waited until yesterday to check everything out in person.  Definitely saved me some dough that way. I just have to have Pixie on my ass to tell me to chill on the HL and lippies every once in a while.
I was so proud of you yesterday! I think that's your most successful MAC store trip since I've known you!!! I know your lippie & highlighter addiction is real... But I know you will do better & better as time goes on! I also think organizing your new, bad ass makeup room will help you too! Everything will be all neat, tidy, and accessible. You won't feel as compelled to just hoard! Proud Mama am I! (My Yoda voice!) ALL THE HIGHLIGHTERS & ALL THE LIPPIES!!! Herbert girl, Herbert!!

I just bought Stereo Rose[SUB]Imposter[/SUB] after mailing off Stereo Rose[SUB]Real Thing[/SUB]. ;) I trotted off to MAC with a bunch of highlighters in tow and this is not like anything else I have. It has a stronger sheen that I'd wear to the office, but I really do like it. I don't agree that it's a light to medium peach; on me (in natural sunlight - car mirror w/ skylight) it's a sheeny light salmon. It's nowhere near as strong a colour as the original, but I don't think that it's a near dupe for Amber Glow. AG is much lighter (and has a much more subtle sheen). I also compared it to Adored, which is both pinker and much less metallic. I'm not a lover of metallic finishes, but lightly applied this buffs into a light salmon sheen along my cheekbone. No question that it emphasizes pores a lot more than its more subtle cousins, but I'm happy to have a single stronger one when the base colour is this flattering on me. I specifically went through the ones they had to find one with the least amount of gold veining.
Could you maybe do some swatches? (Heavily applied and buffed in.) I'm not sure if I want it and we have the same skintone so.. :) I really hope I have something similar though.

Well that's a success! Especially knowing your weakness for not just lippies but NUDE lippies specifically! I knew you'd get it! But glad you're returning it instead of just storing it and hardly reaching for it! THAT'S huge for you girl!!! Good Job!!

I completely agree with this!! I never bought the original ( it was just too burnt for my liking) This new one I hope will swatch way les burnt but it doesn't look completely light to me. Looks pretty dark in the pan

I went back to mall and went to Macy's this time and they had everything except for Petal Power. Snapdragon, Sassy Moss, and Petal Power were sold out in the other Mac store when I looked around this morning. I got to swatch Snapdragon at Macy's and found nothing special about it, I prefer Budding Love over SD. The display at the Macy's Mac store had yet another Stereo Peach and Perfect Beige, but if you asked the MA's about either MSF they'd let you pick the MSFs with whatever veining or detail you like and none of them looked like Perfect Beiges except for the one on the display.

Here's my Perfect Topping:

The picture doesn't do much justice around the veining or the lavender sections, but it's really gorgeous in person! It's like a tiny planet! It's almost true to the description and swatches a bit lavendery. I like that it looks natural and soft instead of a glittery metallic beige mess.

A bad selfie of me wearing Dreaming Dahlia:

Idk why my camera phone is so awful at capturing natural light. One side of my face looks beige while the rest is all pale, what the heck phone?! But yeah, mess aside and look at Dreaming Dahlia in action! :D

Dreaming Dahlia arm swatch comparisons:

Top left: Pamplelune (240) Guerlain Shine Automatique
Bottom left: Dreaming Dahlia MAC Lustre Lipstick
Top right: Tease Revlon Laquer Balm
Bottom right: Hibiscus MAC Cremesheen

My only peeve with MAC Lustres is that they melt, literally. I need to take extra care when it comes to lustres because no matter what temperature, the lipstick ends up either loose or melts. I don't have that problem with other finishes and other brands. -_-"

Decided to ask for a new PT, I feel like MAC just needs to know they messed up for keeping the same name. I'm sure it will at least be a little bit better than my first. Anyways, here's me wearing snapdragon(ignore the glasses). I did have to build it up quite a bit but these are really my favorite formula. It feels so creamy.

With all these returns, that would teach mac's decision-making people not to withhold early samples from bloggers just to spike up the hype.

I love my Mac counter. Called this morning they had two phlox gardens still. I got there and bought the last one, along with sassy moss. I also tried on the lipsticks. Surprisingly I actually liked Snapdragon, but they were sold out. I stalk the site to see if they restock. I like that it light if I'm not in the mood for bold.

Great posts by both of you. I also realized that I buy make-up sometimes as a treat when I'm unhappy. Ordering online gives me something to look forward to. And I also like it because I've gained weight, so clothes don't look as good, but make-up still does! It's good to know that other people buy it for the same reason!
