I'm going to the counter tomorrow. I'm set on getting Petal Power blush, ever since I saw the Temptalia swatches. I'm deeply in love with that blush, lol. I really wanted Stereo Rose but everyone is so disappointed by it that now, I'm second guessing it. I wanted to initially get Pink Pearl pigment (reminds me of Stars N Rockets e/s but way better), but it's a PRO so I can get it whenever. Maybe I'll get the green one, if it impresses me in person. I'm still curious and interested in Snapdragon though...

sent my Azalea blush back. I loved the name too - I have Azalea bushes all around my house & I love them. The blush shade could have been SOOOO much prettier.

Say it ain't so! :( I really was excited for this blush

I'm cranky that prices keep going up, too.

But MAC is nowhere near YSL territory. A YSL lipstick is $35.00 US. And Dior and Chanel are in about the same range. That is more than twice the price of MAC. There are quite a few brands in the $22 to $26 range - but that's $6 to $10 more than MAC.

Luxury brands: Tom Ford is $49; Guerlain and La Prairie are around $50; Sisley Paris is $55. For Cle de Peau, it's $40 for the lipstick as a refill and $25 for the case. More than 3X the price of MAC. That is where luxury brands are, or more.

Drugstore brands: CoverGirl is around $6 to $8; Maybelline is $6 to $10; L'Oreal lip products range from $6 to $12; Revlon is around $8. About half the price of MAC

So at $16, MAC really is still mid-range and not a luxury brand. And i find MAC lipsticks are generally much more pigmented than DS brands and last on my lips longer, so i'm certainly not going back to DS brands. I'll hang out here in the mid-range.

The only thing I ended up getting from this collection was Perfect Topping, and I'm in love with it. Been using it every day this week!

I went to my local MAC today. They always have the new collections set up in "the back room" (where i guess they do private makeup). I was considering possibly Fleur d'Coral lipstick and i wanted to test the blushes. Many of the SAs know me and it's not a problem. Not today. The manager said they couldn't let people preview the collection - it wasn't even set up in the back. And I gathered from the way she said it that it was company policy. I won't be able to go in tomorrow AM because a small group from our music and dance organization will be giving a demo at a grade school about an hour away. She said they didn't get much of anything - 3 + a tester - and she figured the Fluidlines would be the first to go. And the Fluidlines were the only things i was sure i wanted. I had the Fluidlines in my shopping cart on the MAC website, but when i went to complete my order today they were gone, SOLD OUT. So i ordered them from Nordstrom. I have to say, though, now that i've seen T's photos, they may be darn close to some Color Tattoos i have. I don't really need another pinky peach lipstick. I sure don't need any more blushes. So easy skip for me. I'm maintaining my low buy. And i may be sending those Fluidlines back...
I always go see mine in person too and they said the same thing. They are no longer allowed. They also don't hold or take pre orders anymore either because too many complained there were no products on launch day yet they still have their events a week after launch lol

The Waiting Room was only for the RiRi Collections. It was to prevent what would essentially have been a "denial of service attack" from happening. That is when so many people are logging onto a website that there is NO WAY it can handle all the traffic and the entire system goes down. You can read about it in more detail:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack

Did i like the Waiting Room? NOPE. Did it cause me problems? Yes. But i understood why it was in place.

I think you'd all have been much angrier if the entire MAC website and crashed and been down for hours or days.

Mine hasn't allowed pre order/pre sales for a couple-three years already.

But not being able to see the collection! That makes knowing what to get so much more difficult. Seeing swatches on a monitor just isn't the same as seeing colors on your own skin in daylight. And a lot of folks can't get to a MAC store at 10 AM on Thursday morning to snatch up the desired items.

I predordered a bunch of things before the collection came out...and I didn't have a problem with it. Should I worry that they won't hold my items?

I'm nervous about getting my Azalea now.

I'm looking at PT again... just don't want the disappointment of getting a Perfect Beige. I can't really go to a counter, so I'll have to order it online. Should I take the risk?

You are absolutely correct about this. My one comment is that drugstore brands have great sales and coupons and some of the higher end (Dior, YSL, etc.) are available at places like Sephora. If you are a VIB, you can save 15-20% a few times a year. MAC has no sales, coupons, or frequent buyer offers besides B2M.

I guess Pro members have the discount, but there are many of us Mac lovers who are not Pro. I will be paying over 20$ with tax for a lipstick here in Canada tomorrow...that's over 100$ for 5 lipsticks (not that I will be buying 5

). I understand that prices must go up, it just seems a bit steep. Probably because I remember when we paid 16$, heck--even 11$ ! Guess it will mean that people will be more discerning, which isn't a bad thing.

If you really don't think you'll like Perfect Beige, I wouldn't. If you get it and don't like the beige effect, you'll be stuck with shipping costs to send it back. I think what we're seeing on this thread is a lot of inconsistency, so there's a significant chance of anyone getting a beige one.

You can always find a nice beige/neutral highlighter in another line for $30-36 (or less). Laura Mercier's Matte Radiance baked in Highlight is a pretty white/beige--it's lovely, it's consistent, and it's permanent. Of course MAC has some choices too, maybe Laura Geller, hourglass ambient, etc. etc.

Of course, if you think you'll like MAC's PT even if it is a Perfect Beige, then absolutely get it of course. So many pictures we see here look so good once it's applied to the cheek/face, which is really where it matters.

I am really sorry your local MAC was stank like that. You obviously know a lot about the collection and are a regular. Hope you are somehow about to get a Fluidline.

Hello beautiful ladies! So I received my package today, and I have to say I'M IMPRESSED! :) I really like the lipsticks! Despite having my "tired face" , and 8am makeup still on, I decided to take a few pics wearing the new goodies. Left side of picture square 1: Heavenly Hybrid, omg to die for! My favorite out of all of them! Square 2: snapdragon, such a beautiful light pink with hints of lavender in it. :heart2: Also a favorite! Right side of picture Square 1: Dreaming Dahlia, definitely nothing like ablaze on me. A much lighter coral color. Pure love ! Square 2: stereo rose, not the original, not the one that came out with this collection , so I guess the one in the middle lol :haha: is to thought I'd throw a pic in there. Square 3: naked bud, much lighter than my lips. Love it as a nude, and I'm not a nude lip type of girl. this one applied a bit more streaky than the others but I like nonetheless.
