Okay,so I got the cool palette and the rose lip bag.Lovvvve them.

Also I saw the pigment sets today,the packaging is this bright shiny red.The cool pigment set is what I am getting.I finally got to see Quietly I have dying for this one.So pretty,a shimmery lavendar,is not like violet pigment at all.Looks kinda like Lovely Lily pigment.Also I tried Dazzlelash,will post my thoughts in that thread.Also my friend at MAC is going to give me her big red gem bracelet.She would've given me her zipper necklace but she already gave that away.Oh well.I will try to find a zipper necklace somewhere to buy,cause I LOVE it.

I saw the lip bags today. I really liked the rose and red ones----gorgeous!!!! The neutral lip bag did nothing for me. The lighter of the two lipsticks didn't even show up on my NC25 skin :-( .
The eye palettes were a disappointment too. The green in the warm palette just looked black on me and the bright green in classic palette did not show up at all like Bunnybunnybunny said. The only eye palette that looked interesting was the smoky one---but who doesn't already have Satin Taupe and Carbon? The cool eye palette was ok but not screaming at me to buy it---so I passed.

^^ After playing with it for awhile the lighter lipstick from the neutral set looks pretty nice over a variety of lipliners, like subculture, honey b, gingerroot, etc., but yeah, it's not a swipe & go kinda lip product, esp if you have pigmented lips.

Palettes review continued


Inside, you will find the six eyeshadows. First we have Scant, a frosted yellow-cream. It has a gentle pinky opalescence, so it reminds me of a less dramatic Pink Opal (pigment). Very cool. Gorgeous is a pale white-silver frost. It is Rondelle(Danse 06, Smoke Signals 07, Metallic palette 07)'s twin. They both apply bright and clean, but I do think that Gorgeous is slightly more grey, but they are close enough. Next we have Satin Taupe, which is permanent and one of my FAVORITE colors ever. It's a beautiful cool brown-taupe with silver frostyness. It applies very smooth, and it's so pretty,one of MAC's most popular shades. Some people dislike it, but I for one loooove it. Perfect for a smokey eye, either all over the lid or as a crease and liner. Ambiance is a velvet and Grey Fume (Smokey palette 06, Smoke Signals 07)'s doppelganger. A slightly metallic mid-tone dirty grey with silver sparkles. It is hard to build and hard to blend, much like it's twin, Grey Fume. I'm not impressed by this color. It's alright, but Silver Ring is a much better choice for a dirty grey/silver. Dark Devotion is a satin and Oh-So-Pretty! It applies surprisingly even and opaque for a matte. However, it is Showstopper (Dianna Ross 04?, Smoke Signals 07, Warm palette 07) with a new name, no kidding. It's a deep black-brown. Sooo beautiful on anyone! Can be used as a liner, crease color, even lid color for alot of drama. Can go with anything. But if you have Showstopper you already have it. Lastly we have Carbon, which is MAC's classic black matte eyeshadow. A staple in my collection, and I for one have SOOO many already. It is repromoted very often, just like Satin Taupe, and here's another time MAC is shoving it down our throats. I swear, if someone doesn't have Carbon by now they don't want it MAC! However, it does go lovely with the rest of the palette.

A note about the Smoky palette this year is that it is like a combination of the two smoky palettes included in Smoke Signals 07, the problem being they didn't include the more unique colors of the two quads (Smoking from Smoking eyes, and Waft from Gentle Fume eyes). The point is, if you already own those two palettes, you don't need this new one at all, and chances are if you are into this type of look and an avid MAC collector, you already have these shades in one form or another. Just wanted to point that out!

You are dead-on about Ambiance and Gentle Fume...they are the exact same color. I have both and swatched side-by-side there is no difference. I know Mac is in the business to make $$ but it deceitful to change the name of an already released color and promote it as 'new' and 'exclusive'.

I picked up only Smokey Eye palette. It's quite nice. I wanted Carbon and Satin Tapue for so long, but did't have time to buy it. Now it's all in one place, very handy

And I like the fact that you can do both smokey looks with this palette - grey and brown.
Still debating Cool Eyes palette...

IMO, the vg cool lips palette is prettier than the vg warm lips palette.

Sorry in advance for my question as this has probably been beat to death by now. I know the quality of the full size brushes are way better than the sets. My question is-- are these new '08 holiday brush sets of lesser quality than previous brush sets such as say last year's holiday sets? I have not seen these in person and I know a lot of you have been able to feel them and check them out. Thank You

I just wanted to ask , if anyone knows, when are the Passions of red and the Passioanately red palets coming out in Germany?

Hom much will they cost in euros- the eye and lip palettes.
Und how much will the Little darlings- the lipgloss set be?

The palettes will come out November 3rd here and cost 39 €.

The Little Darling sets will come out December 1st, I still don't know the price.

I went to the MAC counter today and what a pleasant surprise I had!

Adoring Carmine and Passions of Red were launched! (I thought we might be getting it around the same time as Susanne

. But no Red She Said here yet.) I bought Neutral Lips bag and Warm Eyes palette.

From Adoring Carmine:
I skip all the brush sets because I wasn't impressed by their quality and the colour of the handles. The Red and Rose bags are beautiful! To Swoon For l/s in the Rose bag is very pretty! Delicate Crush l/g looks like Starlet Kiss on me and I rarely use it. I got Neutral lips bag instead because at the moment I'm lazy to do strong lip colours. The Neutral lipsticks are very sheer and I like My Dear l/g. The draw strings of the bag are shorter than what I imagined but nonetheless cute! Any ideas what I can use it for?

From Passions of Red:
I got Warm Eyes. I like Smoky Eyes very much too but I have similar colours. I will wait for another palette like this but in another packaging from MAC because I don't exactly like red. But the gem is BEAUTIFUL!

The packaging
of the palettes are very well made IMO and don't look cheap at all. No lip palettes for me because I had the palette from Colour Forms and rarely use it. But Plum lips is pretty!

I also played with Dazzleglass which were samples from the collection earlier this year and were placed in beakers. It's

for them! I will put pics in swatch thread tomorrow when I can take them under sunlight.

I'm impressed with the holiday collection by MAC and what a way to start X'mas!

I was strong you guys! All the palettes looked so tempting but I only got the cool lips one from passionately red collection. I got it because it has Viva Glam II which I love and my actual l/s is almost finished.

I'm trying so hard to just buy what I need but they're making it impossible

!!!

I stuck to my promise though and I really looked thru all the colors in the palette's and realized I pretty much had all those colors and moved away from the computer and didn't order them. You know I was

but I prevailed

!

I'll just have a little more money for the next collection....which is what - in 2 weeks - HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
