What happened to the nice bags that came with brush sets? Well... actually why can't they all be good like that one time.

What I mean is I LOVED the clutch that came with the Novel Twist brush set. It was high quality, chic and expensive looking, and durable. The brush set clutches with Patternmaker (Summer 2006) were pretty, but felt hard and plastic-y, from Formal Black (Holiday 2006) were very cheap looking because of the low quality faux satin material. The ones from Novel Twist (Summer 2007) were BEAUTIFUL and high quality and awesome. I bought the Pro set just for the pink squiggled design clutch and I have been using it for over a year now and it's just as pretty as the day I got it. It's awesome. The Antiquitease (Holiday 2007) bags with the brush sets were the biggest abomination ever to grace the MAC counter. So cheap and dollar-store looking. The Materials were just so plastic and fake and awful, not a fan.

This year's summer collection (Colour Forms) had more structural bags and they looked nice, but they weren't all that unique. For that reason, I didn't purchase one so I can't really say anything about the quality or durability of it. This year's Holiday brush set clutches are again cheap and weird. This year they're more of a cylinder. They're pretty stiff and again they have a weird satiny gross material on them. The zipper and patent-leather looking accents are cool, though I'm unsure how they'd last.

That was how it felt. I can still feel it on my fingers.

Yes, they are

It's expensive, but in my opinion the rose lips bag is one of the outstanding items of the whole collection. I think it's worth its price!

I need to think about my list. The brush sets for 56 EUR are to expensive IMO here, too.

So my list shrunk to these items:

- little darlings cool pigments
- little darlings pink l/g
- maybe the cool eye palette

and from RSS
- stark naked
th_e2cloud9.gif
with backup
- MES Threesome

The high price dropped the lipset from the list even though it is gorgeous.

My list has been slashed again to just the cool pigments. My fiance is going to be sooo proud of me!

I am going to purchase the brushes soon as I get the money to. I don't own any MAC brushes and my little ELF brushes are way pass time to exchange so these will be perfect for me!!

Absolutely. I need another one of these, actually. Such a versatile brush.

I agree - I LOVE the SE brush set I got with Color Forms this past summer - but I passed on all the holiday brush sets this time after seeing the testers. I was really disappointed. But hey, saved me money, so I'm not complaining.

Totally agree.

Just waiting for the pigment sets to come out - I want both!

I LOVED those Formal Black (Holiday 2006) bags!! Each had its own decoration... pleats or dangly beaded chains. I bought a few empty bags just to have around and keep stuff in. I don't find them cheap looking at all.

I agree with you about the Antiquitease (Holiday 2007) bags... yuck.

What did you think of those hard-case plastic black ones from a few years ago? They were very art deco. They may have been from Holiday 2005. Or 2004? I bought an empty one at a MAC sale and always meant to use it as an evening bag.

When MAC doesn't make bags as nice as those, I get very disappointed.

Well I have one from the Soiree set (Nordstrom exclusive) and I just... don't like it. It's not awful, it's just this weird material that I don't love.

2005 was like alligatory oriental packaging inspired by Ornamentalism.

I don't know anything about the holiday sets before that. =/

I got my Rose lip bag today, love love love. I know Sir Mixalot said to hell with Romancin', but I adore it, and delicate crush is such a pretty milky pink.

I also caved and got Baby Sparks after I swore I wouldn't buy dazzleglass when they hiked the price.

I can't wait for the lipglass sets next week. Just got my bday money, woo hoo!

So I picked up my brush sets a few days ago, and I think they are really decent, especially the 187. The 266 is trash, but the rest are fine, some better and softer than others, but fine. Maybe I just got lucky, who knows.
