MAC - All Ages, All Races, All Sexes Discussion

great... we suggested less product with a smaller price tag and new packaging to prevent spillage
apparently mac only got the first part of each, so now we have less product for the same price tag and new packaging that's going to spill even more

the whole changing packaging thing just reminded me how disappointed i have been with mac in the last couple of years. they have discontinued so many things that i love (like most paints/shadesticks/paint pots/matte2 eyeshadows/starflash eyeshadows/mattenes). a lot of LE eyeshadows that are worse than drugstore ones. most LE lipsticks are lustres or glaze/frost and barely pigmented. half of my lipglasses go bad in a couple of months or even before i start using them. quality of their product seems to vary from batch to batch (any one remember teal pigment from last year's holiday set? and frozen white definitely isn't the same as the one i bought a few years ago) the reason i used to like mac was the pigmentation, color selection, and relatively reasonable price. now every brand is improving and mac is going backwards, i feel like i'm just hanging on to it for sentimental reasons

i haven't bought much mac besides blushes + pigments in the last year. now i don't even see the reason to buy their pigment any more. especially with quite a few mineral companies offering a lot more interesting colors mac doesn't make for less money

ok, now that i'm done ranting, i'll probably end up buying the pigments anyways. sigh...

Now, the last of the full size pigments I want to get is: museum bronze, blondes gold, silver OR platinum, gold metal OR rose gold. Which do you guys think is better?

if you look at the ingredient lists,
silver = aluminum powder
gold = bronze powder
copper = copper powder
platinum = bronze + aluminum powder
rose gold = copper + bronze powder
so if you have silver, gold and copper, you can mix them to get platinum and rose gold

I have yet to find one that has the payoff and staying of MAC pigments though and I have tried quite a few.

Is blondes gold similar to gold mode? And is night light similar to antique green?

I bet the full-size will go for so much on ebay once they are all gone from stores. lol. I hope I am not tempted to sell mine.

K are you kidding me? Smaller than the nail polish bottles?! I find the nail polish bottles small to begin with. And half screw top, half pull-off? You've got to be kidding me.

I'm seriously never buying pigments again. Ever.

So my xmess prezzie to myself, and with my dear husband's blessing, has been pigment shopping. Yesterday I went to 2 CCOs and got 6 (5 new 1 backup), and today I put in an order over the phone with pro since I didn't want to go into the city this week if I can help it. Seriously hoping all the pigs I get from the phone order have the old jars but we shall see. I also got my order of empty jars which I will be using the dust ASAP and cleaning out to store any new ones I get. I realize a new jar won't fill an old jar but at least they will match.

ARGH!!!

The upside? I have a lot of new colours to play with!

Wow this new pigment packaging sounds terrible.

MAC pigments were what actually got me started on MAC years ago. I guess I will just get pigment samples from now on but I guess those are going to go up in price now too. The whole thing sucks and although I hope that all of our letters and comments will be listened to I have a feeling that these jars are most likely here to stay.

I went to MAC pro in the city today, and I got to view the new packaging, like the poster above me who saw them, they do look like the naipolishes only smaller, yeah I definately have to hit up the cco's and get my pigments.I also caved in and placed an order for grape and silver fog pigment today I'm hoping the grape is still in the old packaging. I'm going to get the brown one for the all races ages and sexes collection but I'm soo complaining about this via email and letter to mac corporate.

I think it depends on each store's stock...once they get rid of old packaging that's it. I gotta make sure that I get all old packaging and specifically request it....

And.. cheap and ugly looking. Oh no MAC.. what have you done to our precious pigments.

Now the jar looks more like a cheap drugstore pigment.. and less pro like the old pigment jars looked like.

But despite to my current.. well hate.. I feel for the new pigment packaging maybe OCD me could accept it at some point but the 67% price increase makes it really hard and even impossible.

I know me.. at some point I may will crack and want to buy a later released LE pigment but I will think a lot about it then.. and surely if I crack I won't buy it here.

The new packaging still makes me sad.

I agree it does look cheap, but the 67%price increase yersus product 7.5 grams to 4.5 grams is what really gets to me..
