So, tonight at the Holiday preview, I pumped some of my other MAs for info on Gareth Pugh.....
First off, we were discussing the greyish lipstick. It is SILVER in a big way - not light silver, but platinum grey - he pointed to the chrome displays on the holiday collection stands.....I asked "that metallic??" and he said not quite that, but it's definitely grey. It seems that it's a brand new kind of matte formula that MAC is testing the waters with. There's a possibility that this is going to become a brand new official finish down the line. I was wearing Prince Noire and my MA said it's matte like that but even more and better. Also, it seems like it's very workable, so that you get get quite a sheer application or something denser, without it looking heavy or thick. Wow, the possibilities!
Then we talked some more about the packaging and the in-store display. First off, there will be a video monitor as part of the display, showing Gareth Pugh's collections and the looks you can get with the makeup. He was very enthusiastic about how cool it will be.
He confirmed the packaging is square. The beauty powder is in a very large and heavy rectangular case - expect it to be huge - he showed me with his hands - we're talking maybe 4" x 3" or even a touch larger. All the packaging has a textured finish with a repeating pattern of embossed X's. The lipsticks are in a square tube that is chrome instead of the black of the other pieces (it's possible I
may have misunderstood the chrome finish - I was having a few marshmallow martinis at that point!).
Even if the prices are prohibitive for you, the cool silver trend is the way things are going to be, going forward, so if you want some grey and silver and white colors in your life, get ready because they're coming - even Naturally is going to have a cool cast to the general color story.
Well, another confirmation that this is the standout collection from the most recent update! Get your pennies together!!
oh, and it's officially releasing on Black Friday - the day after American Thanksgiving, if that hasn't already been confirmed.
