MAC and Gareth Pugh Discussion

Does anyone know how the buffer brush from the Gareth Pugh collection compares to the 182 buffer brush from the 2006 couture collection?

I would love to get the Gareth Pugh version, but $60 is pretty steep. The 2006 version retailed $55. MAC keeps increasing their prices.

By the way, the 2006 version is not as dense as the regular version from MAC's permanent collection. I love that the 2006 version is a little bit fluffy and I wonder if the Gareth Pugh version will be similar.

The GP one looks exactly like my Couture one except that the square handle is smooth. I agree with that that the 2006 version is not as dense as the permanent ones unless you happen to get one that's cut great. I got 2 that were cut great & 1 that was stinky. Ever since MAC has been machine cutting, they're brushes aren't the same. Personally, I say buy the regular 182 when MAC has their Holiday Sale so you get a discount. If you want to spend big bucks I say go with Hakuhodo brushes.

After seeing the prices on this collection I'm trying to stop breathing into a paper bag.

I really do love the frost nail polishes and the pigments (the packaging looks lovely) but it's not making me want to part with my money. I think I'll stick with my plans to haul Daphne Guinness.

Oooh- I'm actually liking the packaging more now! I definitely want a lippie so I'll probably get Restrict; even with the odd packaging, I'm still really interested in Guise; I'm not paying $23 for a nail lacquer but those are all gorgeous; and I of course still want Strada!

I've decided I'll be passing the BP. $60? No thank you. I have no clue what I'll end up with- I hope we get swatches soon!!

I have to say that Mac's marketing department must be toking on the crack pipe something fierce to have come up with those prices. In Canada, these polishes will come in a dollar or two more than Chanel. Since Chanel is known as basically the barometer that determines all nail polish trends and their colours have a cult following that seems almost religious at times, I think it's unbelievably bold of Mac to set their prices higher.

ugh- inorite? But, maybe that means that the formula and effect is amazing. An additional $10 for a polish? There's GOTTA be something amazing in those bottles..... Wish I could afford one since I love the idea (like Piarpreet) of beetle wing nails. If the swatches are incredible enough..... We'll see.

I thought I was going to pass on this collection, but goddamn has the packaging drawn me in! I'll have to wait to see swatches of the berry lipstick and Strada. I may have to get a CP though to make the prices more managable!

I prefer the 2006 couture version over the regular version because the 2006 version is not as dense. So, I hope the GP version is similar, but I'm scared to get it because the quality of MAC brushes seems to be getting poor.

By the way, I noticed that MAC is going to be releasing the metal x cream eyeshadows in this collection. I thought it was a flop when it was released years ago.

Also, I was looking at the promo pictures and was wondering if anyone knows which picture is the Strada blush. Is it the one with the square pan or is that one the beauty powder?

I'm guessing it's the square shaped one like the eyeshadow. The round one must be the beauty powder.
