MAC and Gareth Pugh Discussion

I like the movement towards a "washed-out", softer vampy look too and am really glad MAC is spearheading this trend and supporting it through multiple collections - that's actually the interesting thing about Glitter & Ice....colors like Hold That Pose, Winterized and Soft Sable are great for that look. People were really scratching their heads over that Quite Cute quad, but here we are many months later and it's starting to sink in.
Of course that means that by next holiday, the raccoon eyes will be back in style, huh?

Thank goodness for this change in MU trends. I adore these new looks. It's not good for my wallet though

IMO, it's a lovely powder. Yes, it is pricey and it contains only 8g. However, I still think it is worth the money considering that this is one of the lightest b/p MAC has brought out. I already got two and I consider buying a third BU.
I didn't see anything in-person with my Elude that didn't capture "on film." There just isn't much to capture.

Snowglobe BP does what I wish Elude would have--it leaves a beautiful, natural shimmer to the cheeks with an extremely finely milled formula and no white cast...for half the price.

So if you can get your hands on Snowglobe, I'd definitely go for that instead of Elude. :)

I too am not getting much but love the collection as a whole. It's a gorgeous edgy beautiful collection. Vacant does look simular to Docile, but is more lavender than pink. Plus my Docile went bad so Vacant is perfect! It's so strange, my Docile smells and tastes weird. I have had glosses longer than it, but are still good. Dunno what happened. :-(

Katred you look stunning as ever! Would you say Outrage is a must have? I'm considering that one now. It's so cool looking! Plus I'm considering the nude lipstick, only prob is I have a prob with really pale lippies looking to dry on me, and shows all my lip imperfections.

I posted a couple of pics in the swatch thread- Outrage and Strada. I'm wearing both today in a Gareth Pugh-inspired look. I do love the shades for this collection, even if I don't feel the need to buy a lot of the products.

Here's Outrage and Strada on me:

Pretty, pretty!

I never thought I'd say I "love" any MAC lipglass, but Outrage comes pretty close!

Hmm, I've noticed my Docile separating, like oil and water. But I haven't used it in a long time. Guess it's time to give it a sniff.

PLEEEASE somebody tell me firmly that I do not need Deceit pigment!
It's so tempting, because I have bright green eyes, and deep plums make them just about pop out of their sockets.
But $32, for a little bitty container of colored powder?
I'll hate myself if I do, but I may hate myself if I don't.
HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELLP!

I really like it too.. any dupes?? If I don't find a dupe I'll probably buy it!

I feel like I've seen this color before, but I just can't put my finger on it.

Anyway, here's a close dupe on Etsy for $7, but you might only be able to purchase within the US. You can also try Bare Minerals' Sugar Plum or Soul Sister over a black base. I think putting a plum color you might already have over a black base will get you close to the effect you get with Deceit.

I figured it out! Deceit reminds me of Urban Decay's Rockstar eye shadow. (Not sure if someone already said this.)

If you have an UD palette with Rockstar in it, maybe you can skip Deceit.

Thanks, I'll give it a look!! but I still don't know what to take from this collection... also because it will launch in december in some stores and in january in other stores (with daphne guinness and Iris apfel!!!).... My list would be: deceit, strada and inert! they are the only items I know I'd use..... it's a pity beause IMO the packaging is stunning

Dangit. After seeing your nail swatches Allura, the nailpolishes really are dupeable. I'm so bummed cause I love the polish bottles! :(

Yeah, I feel this way about the collection in general. The packaging really is beautiful and luxurious, even if the stuff inside sometimes isn't as special. That's marketing for ya.

i just ordered Fervent from the nordstrom website because they still had Prince Noir lipstick from mac me over collection so i decided to pick that up also. Hopefully I'll like the color... if not it's an easier return than if i had ordered from the mac website lol

i'm hoping that Fervent looks like this on me...

I remember when I first read the description of this product I really liked the sound of it and was looking forward to seeing more. I was disappointed when I saw the first swatch, I cant even swatch this on my own skin before i buy it because it wont be in store only online. Think a product like that is something I would need to see on my skin to make my final decision.

Money isnt a factor with this collection, the only thing that stops me buy it all straight away is I wanted to get xmas shopping done first and I dont think the collection will sell out so i know i can take my time. The brush is the only thing i have had ready to go on my wish list order.

I keep looking for more swatches of Vacant and Restrict so i get more of an opinion that just what is on temptalia atm before i make my decision on those.

in the end i was able to make my purchase -- the two glosses and fervent. i'm intrigued by resist, but i'm kind of worried it'll look ghastly since i'm at the dark end of the spectrum.

i really love the imagery for this collection, especially the alabaster skin, but i'm afraid i have no idea how to translate that to nc44 skintone...i guess neither does mac, judging from their offerings of face products in this collection!

i'm hoping that Fervent looks like this on me...

Although the packaging is amazing, I'm skipping this collection. Nothing particularly stands out to me and I would rather save up for the Iris Aphel Collection or another.

Iris Aphel currently has all my love at the moment as well. XD

Were there many swatches of Elude yet?

If you rely on online swatches, definitely look at swatches close to your skintone. Elude leans more NW than NC, a development I'm really pleased to see as the sheer mystery powders from the past few years were more yellow-based.
