MAC Art of Powder Discussion

As an NW15-20, 2 minutes outside without sunscreen gives me that "extreme sunkissed-slightly-too-long-in-the-sun look" lol.

I have mixed feelings about those oversprays. Yeah, they can look lovely and all, but unless you have your hands on a sample, you just don't know what you are buying. I think they are terrible for the MAC newbies. The oversprays are unnecessarily deceptive and confusing for that demographic.

I hope to be pleasantly surprised by the highlight powder.

I totally agree with you on the overspray. It will definitely be one of those "look-now-the-seahorse-is-gone" deja vu experiences.

If the bronzer formula is nice and sheer like My Paradise, it'll be a nifty effect, hot pink and all. I used My Paradise as sort of a color highlight to go along with bronzer. Actually pink will be a little easier to use in that department compared to MP, which was a little bit too brick toned on me except when I was well-tanned and had some bronzer on too.

The shadows and highlighter seem pretty run of the mill to me, but hot pink/bronze bronzer is pretty offbeat (and I admit, I love that zig zag pattern - pulling it out of my purse to dab on here and there will be fun)

.... and I was foolish enough to believe that I was the only one who would use MP as an all-over color highlight.

I love the beauty of all these products but I would never buy them because I would just sit and admire the prettiness--never using the product. I still have not touched the ML I paid a small fortune for on evilbay nor have I touched the Paradise blush from SB...these are even more artistic and beautiful. I would feel it is wrong to damage it.
I wholeheartedly enjoyed seeing all the overspray come off and the raised bits of the picture get all worn down - showed me I was getting my money's worth! I bought it for the color anyhow, so I'm ok with the transitory nature of the embossing and overspray. It's makeup - this stuff is pretty ephemeral to begin with.

Sorry, all. Not to offend anyone's lemmings, but I have nothing good to say about this collection. I really am wondering why MAC is releasing this collection. What a waste of perfectly good plastic.

The bronzer, which contains bright pink, will make one appear the colour of sunburn or as a victim of unchecked hypertension. Let's call it what it is.....blush. Yeah, I don't want that much of one colour of blush. I am also guessing that MAC will make it overpriced due to the "special" product imprinting.

The shadow. Let's see...where to start? The 2010? Or perhaps the fact that it looks like a crappy, knock-off of a Basquiat that a major retailer hijacked to put on a sweatshirt circa 1986. Yeah, I can see the gang on Saved by the Bell rocking that HARD. The colours couldn't be any duller either. In fact, I am wondering if the photographer spilled his/her coffee over it they when they took the PR photos.

The highlight powder has potential, but if there is even the tiniest of price increase to account for MAC's imprinting that simplistic design, I will not even entertain the idea of buying it.

What a disappointment.
oh goodness! you have no clue how hard this made me laugh!

Hilarious. I can't look at the quad any more, because now I'm just seeing 80s sitcom credits rolling over the image...

Yeah, this is actually the first of a three part collection. They will release a new one each month. After the Saved by the Bell ES palette, comes the Cosby Sweater Makeup Bags and lastly a set of eau de toilettes called Fresh Prince Fade and Carlton's Polos. Alf was recently spotted being photographed for the ad campaign at Milk Studios. I am so in the know.

Considering I actually rocked that look back in the 80s entitles me to say I don't appreciate the remix. I thought I was just having flashbacks from all the good stuff I did back in the 70's--thanks for clearing that up. I refuse to wear that look again, but I cannot wait to see some young thangs rocking some MC Hammer low to the ground crotch pants.

And yeah, these do have that remix look, like they took a fine painting, mass produced it and therefore made it lose its elegance and beauty. Maybe this is the beginning of the end for the overspray crap. I can only hope...

It looks like temptalia is not getting products.... she would dig :)

Christine's at fashion week right now, so I wouldn't at all be surprised if her samples arrived at her apartment without her there to review them. That's how the universe likes to work...for me, anyway. lol

hhmmm none of these are grabbing at me. even the highlighter so this will be a skip for me. Plus i still can't help but feel they are just over spray that runs deep. she seems to have not wanted to dig the powder up which is a shame.

These are interesting to look at but not $38 worth of interesting LOL. In this economy I just can't justify buying something that expensive that is pretty to look at but where the actually usable product doesn't blow me off my feet.

I certainly will get a lot of use out of bronzer and the highlighter. But I still want to know if it's just an overlay or not. It probably is...
