MAC - Cinematics / Colorization Discussion

i went to nordies today and i saw this collection. Here are my thoughts

- Brushes are not great. I was like um what is this?? lol It does fill soft, but just like my other se brushes i feel like they are soft at first but after a few washes it'll get scratchy.

- I can easily pass on all the eyeshadows... The only one i was interested in was the duo 4 teal/brown one. I liked it only because of the brown. In person i really do like the brown but i didnt like the teal. it's not as vibrant as i thought it would be against my skin.

- the lip bag are all an easy pass also. I wasnt wowed. The only one that i would get would be the overnight sensation lip bag but that's only if i have enough money to splurge.

i originally planned to get the lip bags but now im passing. id rather get some glam glosses!

My Nordstrom catalog says the anniversary sale starts in store and online July 15th.

So I ordered a brush set, cause I'm a sucker for them. But Nordies site says they won't ship until July 27! Any idea why that would be?

i'm actually really loving the purple / yellow shadow duo and the teal that comes with the oragey brown :) the more i look at swatches, the more i want! :)

Did you check out the video on the Nordies site? They use the yellow/purple duo.

I'm in LOVE with the new Nude Scene lip bag. They did an excellent job with it. The lipstick alone is worth the cost. I love the sheen on it. It's unique in that it's a Cremesheen with nude reflects. The sheen on it reminds me of the lovely sheen from Marquise'D. Of course they aren't dupes. I think MAC should consider doing lip bags with just two lipsticks of the same color in a good quality bag and using only the most sought after limited shades, like Queen's Sin. I mean how many people need the same lip liners over and over again as well as repromoted glosses? I'd rather have doubles of the same limited lipstick. Or, at least be more creative and throw in a liptsick with some limited reflects.

I liked the yellow/purple duo as well as the green duo. The shadows have very slight variation than some of the shadows in the regular line. For example, the green that looks like Bitter, is just off slightly in hue and it isn't quite a satin finish. It has more sparkle to it. In an odd way, the green reminds me of Slimer from the Ghostbusters, LOL! Anyhow, the color that looks like Goldmine, also seems to have rougher texture with sparkle. But, if you marry the green and the gold, it's divine! I've been craving a strong citrine shade with some red lips. If you're craving the same thing, just use Lucky Green + Going Bananas.

The duos are cute if you don't have similar shades or are just not in love with some of the collections that are out there. Some of you may still be craving brights and may seem bored with some of these neutral collections that are being released for fall. So, you can pair a MAC duo with NARS's new Outremer. That's a hot ticket item! I strongly urge all of you to pair it with China Blue from NARS and replicate the look of the NARS fall ad. If you look carefully, you'll see how they used Pandora to shade in an outer V and then used Outremer. I'd swap Pandora for China Blue and then use Outremer and highlight the inner portion with something bolder like a duo from MAC by using a green or gold on the inner portion of the eye.

I forgot this collection came out yesterday. I want to place an order, but I can't find the Reel Drama lip set. Is it really gone already? :shocked: :crybaby: Ugh. Now, I'm bitter. Think I'll do a Sephora purchase instead.

Shontay, I too went to look at the Reel Drama set only to find it no longer on the Nordies site. And I had my eye on a couple of non-MAC things that I decided to skip now too. Oh well.
Good for my wallet and too bad for Nordies, who I'm sure are doing just fine without my money. LOL!

i watched that one too but there is also one where she uses the purple and yellow duo - it was a very simple but pretty look :)
