MAC - Cult of Cherry Discussion

Watching the olympics, this popped into head:

Mac should have done a quad with colors of the countries of the flag they sell and called it Beijing Dreams.
For Ex. USA quad=Deep Truth, Dazzelight, Moon's Reflection and Cranberry.
Germany=Red, Yellow and Black, ugh, with those colors on eyes, some people work it, though.

P.S. I didn't say it was going to pretty but put some one of kind packaging and we would snatch it up.

Sigh, I knew this would happen...

Now I want Jampacked, too.

If Cherry Blossom is similar to Sugar Trance, can I pass it for Jampacked?

So I can get Jampacked with Cult of Cherry and Rich & Ripe? Yes? Yes.

*Don't tell me I will leave the counter with 4 l/g. I will. Oh no...*

i guess i just haven't found the right shade of red yet but any suggestions?? i want to try and get out of my comfort zone and try something new.

You look gorgeous in your avatar! Wow!

Anyways. I think you should definitely give So Scarlet a try at least. I totally think you can pull it off. But if wearing lipstick red doesn't work for you, try using a more subtle or sheer one, Cult of Cherry comes to mind.

I hardly ever use my fuschias or reds these days.. but sometimes the mood strikes me and I just have to use it.

I think red would actually look fantastic on you.

I think it's just your comfort level that makes them off-putting.

Okay.
I'm sorry to say this. But I won't get Cult of Cherry. I saw the comparison to Red Romp, and though they are not entirely similar, and CoC is a lighter brighter red... I shouldn't waste money on getting another red when I hardly use Red Romp and when they are similar enough.

That said though, I think I can definitely say that I'll get Liquor then. =)

I've got my dremel and IPA in hand and am ready to depot some more eye shadows to B2M for these lippies. I've decided I want need will die without at least two of the Cult of Cherry lipglasses. Also lusting a bit for the Shadowy Lady quad again. That grayed violet eye shadow, sigh...

and Plum du bois as well now.

Also it would go really well with the OPI Parlez Vous OPI polish that I'm sporting today. The color is darker and richer than it looks in the bottle. I can see pairing it with Shadowy Lady quad and the Plum du Bois blush. Add the Bing mattene and you'd look smoking hot for fall.

Audrey - you and elegant one were right about this OPI collection's colors. I think these would go really well with some of the colors in the CoC collection. Too bad MAC already does nail polishes, as I would love a MAC-OPI collaboration. But these two collections are pretty darn close to it.

That's true. For me, though, I'm not a shadow collector (pigment whore! LOL) so I think this is a great way for me, personally, to collect shadows. I wanted the Shadowy Lady Quad but I also want the Manish pallet. I don't want Deep Truth twice
ssad.gif
. I don't even know if i'm going to use it! LOL

But you're completely right, it all depends if you have the same/similar shadows.

I am going to depot tonight too! I only have enough for 2 B2M's at most though. I am thinking about the Plum blush more and more too, and will most likely get the Shadowy Lady quad. Still debating the darker lip thing, but I will probably end up with at least one of the darker l/g and So Scarlet l/s or one of the mattenes.

SMMY, glad you are loving your OPIs! My favorite collection of theirs ever, and the first one that I want all of!

I just watched Enkore's video on YouTube how to depot e/s and blushes... I wish I would be brave enough to try it! Must talk to my MA again.

I have soo many single e/s - that would be an awesome B2M haul!

I use his technique too. I use a dremel to cut through the plastic holder that surrounds the pans now, because snips were too clumsy and the dremel gives me better control. I'm not damaging the pans or shadows anymore. Once you get the hang of it, it's a piece of cake. Just don't start with a precious LE one first. Poor Satin Taupe (my first depot victim).

I already have nanogold, cranberry and firespot e/s so do I really need the Spiced Chocolate quad or can I skip? Are these colours similar?

I hope that the Smudged Violet tilts just a lil bit more to the violet side than the grey. Just so you can tell it has some violet. Ahhh, you know you want it
tong.gif

I have that Smudged Violet color on the brain. I bought the Victoria Secret lingerie in that color...then I bought table linens at Crate & Barrel that are that exact same color...the OPI polish
th_dunno.gif

I went back to get my daughter in law that cute little mini OPI French Cafe set of polishes for her Christmas stocking
tong.gif
& ended up getting a couple more of the new colors. They were already sold out of 3 of the shades.

The blushes are looking very pretty too...I may have to cave....more blushes

Even tho I keep saying I can find lipsticks by other brands
(read: more economical), & I do not mention quads,

please know I am no less obsessed over this collection than anybody else!
I wouldn't be reading & posting here, would I?
winks.gif

Cult of Cherry is the first MAC Collection ever to make me *Dream* (seriously;
I looked at swatches last Night right before I fell asleep, & I Dreamed I had
a giftcard, sent from an angel, & I could *only* use it to buy this beautiful makeup, & I had to use it for myself...
So how different does that make *me*?)

The only other MAC products I've absolutely obsessed over were (are) Delineate Fluidline, (I have 2.5; I can't imagine ever running out.
winks.gif
& a couple of MES Duos from Electroflash which I am still discovering & rediscovering in different ways.)

If Life were slightly different, I would have tried to sneak into one of the "special invitation only" Events
winks.gif
& I'd have brought home all the darker lip products
winks.gif
, a couple of the lipglasses (I only own *1* lipglass, as I'm not generally into lipgloss)
smiles.gif
&....guess ! ...the Spiced Chocolate quad.

How could I possibly resist anything named for two of my favorite tasty treats.
smiles.gif
drools.gif

At the present time, my choice (lucky girl I am) was to replenish the skin products by which I swear, or to purchase a couple of these delectable cosmetic items. I chose skin, as I have to live with it longer (I hope) &
I am learning...Health & Beauty begin within.

A few years ago, I probably would have chosen...both! My Life was different then, & easier financially.
But the Life I have *now* is the best one I've *ever* had.
smiles.gif

If Life becomes a bit easier, I will be seeking out (sold-out, I'm sure) products from this amazing collection (which I feel was tailor-made for a girl like me, who's into Vintagey looks, lushly Dark Lips, etc....)

I just thought I'd confess my product-lust.

th_hug.gif

I think i will definately give it try...i was poking around all the makeup that i have and found a red lippie and dark berry colored lippie and have been playing around with them. i actually left them each on for a bit and did a neutral look on the eye and i liked it. YAY!! haha!! i look forward to trying out So Scarlet and Cult of Cherry l/g and if they really do work out which im hoping they do it will probably end up being my signature look for this fall. lol. i agree that im a lot more comfy with nude or pink lips and i just got out of my comfort zone and started using high 90's which i still tone down with other l/g. lol. im gonna force my self to get out of my comfort zone with these lippies because they are stunning!!

I agree Susanne and elegant one, I think Jampacked will be coming home with me!
smiles.gif
Cult of Cherry looks very pretty, but a little *too* red for me to be comfortable in. I love that Jampacked is darker without being too bright

^^ My thoughts exactly. That's how I feel about Kirsch and Bing vs So Scarlet too, but I'll give So Scarlet a chance when I go.

i'm getting ALL the quads. yes, i have deep truth & tempting already, but these quads are still a deal at $36 a pop. i'll also be getting lightly ripe, creme cerise l/s [both b2m] & cherry blossom l/g.

the dark colors are indeed gorgeous, but i won't wear them. i can't afford to buy things that i won't use regularly especially with all these great collections coming up. i've already got my eye on quite a few things from ungaro.

I know I will leave with four of them. And some ls... And maybe a mattene...

Jampacked looks great. And it would for sure look great on you.
