this is no joke. I nearly died from this (hospitalized for 33 days) and had the highest doses of vancomycin, rifampin and other meds in order for me to live.. finally in order to really kill the bacteria I was given extreme doses of Cyvox which is a real killer micin and that did it -- but I was sick as a dog. I am here and my husband who took care of me is not.. however, I have an enormous respect for these microscopic creatures to the point where if and when I try anything on any client to test a product, I will take a small slab of lipstick with a spatula and put it on a stainless plate from where I take the product with a disposable brush and apply it. Afterwards the s.s. plates get sterilized in extreme high heat in special ovens. If you are not getting this type of sterilization, you are just getting a sponge bath for the bacteria... not a real sanitizing.

sorry to spoil the fun, but there are very real risks and dangers involved in using testers which are used by the general public.

I'm so glad you made it through that!

Got it- no using testers! I never do anyway, though.

According to my tracking number, my MAC box is in Phoenix. I wish I could just drive the two hours and pick it up instead of having to wait until tomorrow.

^^ I take a Slice of lipstick (very small really) from a lipstick tube and put it on a SS plate -- from there it is applied with a disposable brush.

Anyone may think this is an extreme because they have not been affected by these killer bacterias.. but do a google search on MRSA

and you will find a healthy respect for more hygenic applications.

I bought 2 eyeliners when they launched, Definately Feline & Signature Blue. I liked all the colors but my plan was to buy 1 or 2 more a month until I had them all. This plan did not even last a week. I plan to get 2 or 3 more this week. Suggestions needed. Any must have colors that can't wait? Thanks!

The risk of catching something was the reason I didn't want to swatch Cunning on my hand after seeing someone else apply it strait from the tube onto her lips. I already posted about that experience earlier in the threads (I think it was last Thursday, the 26th). But, the MA still tested that shade on her hand after hearing about it! ::shudders:: I tested Drive Me Wild on my hand and it was a surprise love...I hope I have the same reaction to it on my lips!

TealAngel -- I look at mu this way: If I don't like the colour on my lips.. so be it. I lost anywhere from $ 15 to 30 dollars.. I cannot even write out what it cost me to be in a hospital for 33 days (thank God for our insurance) ... and the loss of a limb or life because of these bacteria has no price.

I work with mu for a living.. and yet, I am very careful about these issues because of my personal experience. I can always replace that lippie, the gloss or foundation.. I cannot replace my life or my limbs.

Don't worry about it -- the product will look fabulous, and if not, you can work on it and make it work for you.

I agree with you too!

If a color isn't exactly what I thought it would be I could make it work...in my case, a lipstick shade...a gloss might help add to wearability isues. But I wouldn't do this with eyeshadow though...I would have to be sure I would wear the shade enough to buy it without trying, even if just swatched.

I love these Mac videos. I actually found that one a few days ago b/c I figured they had to do something on the FF collection.

I don't go about my make up with as many steps or colors as most people or artists. I like to keep it down to a few steps for the sake of time and my own sanity (I am not very patient), but it's always fun to see. I love that she used Drive Me Wild for the lips.

I'm the opposite- for some reason, I add extra steps, even though it ends up looking the same or worse in the end.

Placing order #2, for liners this time! I'm going to get 3 for now and maybe add a new one to each future MAC order I place until I have all the ones I want. Smokey Heir is a definite and so is Marked for Glamour. I feel like I should get the black one since I'd use a black liner more, but part of me wants to get Signature Blue instead. I get more excited by the pretty colored ones! haha

I love this one too!
I've worn it the last two days. Yesterday with the Burmese quad, and today with the Leopard quad.

I line my top lash line with a darker color (yesterday, marked for glamour with the BB, and today defiantly,.. crud, I'm forgetting names... yesterday, the grey, today the bronzey brown.)
those darker colors on the top, winged out (well, my attempt to wing out to make cat eye. getting sloooowwwly better).

both days I smudged a darker shadow with a pencil brush on my lower lashline. then, a thin line closer to the lashes with pure show, from the inner corner, to meet the beginning of the wing on the outer eye... that made no sense... I lined the bottom lashline with the pure show, leaving some darker shadow to show)

I stink at describing makeup...

That's my plan too!

I noticed that Smokey Heir is "out of stock.ships soon"
I know it will be replenished, but dangit, I want it now.

I am going to make the trek to Nordies again tomorrow.
I think!
If I do, I will come back with the PP quad, I just know it. (and, like 3 more liners, oh, and Cunning)
.
.
.
resistance is futile.
