MAC Glitter and Ice Discussion

Ordered Soft Sable and Pleasure Principle online. My guess is I'll get them the same day I go in to pick up my other goodies.

I skipped both BP's because I found out both have talc as a prime ingredient. My sensitive skin loathes talc so I need to stay far away.

katred, you & I are so similar. I tried sooooo hard to skip this collection, but I couldn't resist. I managed to only buy three items. I do have some shoppers guilt going on right now. I decided this would be a birthday present to myself as will GP, DG and IA. LOL. Happy Birthday to me a few times over this year.

Piarpreet, you look stunning. I can't get over how pretty your eyes are. And thanks very much for the swatches. As my list for GP grows, I'm trying to convince myself to skip this one, but it is difficult... I'm a Libra. We're not good at choosing one thing over another. We'd rather have everything.

I would say dont buy it. Cos they r too similar... it's not worth it really. But I am a mineral hoe....so... couldnt resist no matter the dupability of it!

Okay. I can breathe a bit now. I put my first order in and if the rest is sold by the time I have funds, well, I will have to live without! I ended up getting:

All 6 MES's
Snowglobe BP
Soft Sable l/s

I might go back for a brush set, though I really wish they had come out with separate ones and then a separate bag so I could get exactly the ones I would use. Does that make sense? lol Some of the lighter l/s I would really have to swatch, but no big deal if I can't get them. Those look pretty basic. And there are a few Dazzleglasses I would not mind owning, but I want to look over what I already have from MAC and other companies, because I have been going glittery gloss crazy with MAC, Dior, Lorac, Chanel and others and my lips can only glitter so much!

Piarpreet, it is all your fault for looking so lovely in your photos. I was talking myself out of all the mes's until I saw your photo and realized I desperately needed them!

SNOW GLOBE is extremely subtle and it makes me think of it as a soft sable (the lippie)'s BP version. It's like the perfect every day highlight, nothing really noticeable. I'm more into the drag queen kinda highlight but.... I'll keep it just so I can have the packaging.

SOFT SABLE: I'm impressed when i layered it over lipsticks... it makes them frost without the overly silver/cheap frost color that ELOQUENT AIR gives. I really dont think I like the second very much.... I might return it or swap it.

DOUBLE SPIN: lighter than fleshpot but its the perfect pinky nude for the pale gyals.... if you are not pale, please do skip....unless you are going for a dead person look. It is not one of those nudes that "you can make it work" for your skin tone. It's a no no for somebody over NC/NW25. The finish is awesome and that's why it makes it the perfect nude for somebody light.
uuugh i so was interested in double spin :( i would skip this collection but i collect mac special packagings so i need a lippie and this was the only one i was interested in :( i might still get it just to keep it in my collection and not use it lol

I ended up ordering snowglobe, shimmermint, winterized and a brush set.

I passed on let's skate & morning frost b/c I have 3 nubile pp to work through, which will take me a couple of years.

None of the lip products really interest me. I always buy the dazzleglasses, wear them onece, hate the crunchy glitter, and end up losing them in my makeup stash.

I will pass on all of the sets for now. I know that I will end up buying a few for gifts, but that can wait until next payday. The sets never sell out too quickly. They seem to be one type of product that MAC makes a gazzilion of.

I am interested in the other MES, but I have all of them from SP that are already being neglected.

Firstly - Piarpreet your haul is awesome and your photos are gorgeous! they are wonderful colours and thankyou for the comparing swatches!!

I thought i was done with this collection but looking at the lippys and seeing more swatches im gaining interest again, i dont mind the look of soft sable, double spin and whirls and twirls.

Im going to try and be strong and stick with my currenty order and wait for gareth pugh.... try to!!

I'm low on funds so I had to narrow down my list for this week. I thought I did a good job but I just added everything up and I'm still hovering at $250! Yikes! The funny thing is, I just learned I may have an opportunity to work extra this week (Yay more money for Mac) but I may have to work launch day. Bummer. I don't want to get there late. Anyway, this was my narrowed down list (to be narrowed down further):

-all 3 paint pots
-How Beautiful beauty powder
-Shimmermint MES
-Snow Season MES
-Hold the Pose MES
-Soft Sable lipstick
-Sultry Eyeshadow palette
-Mineralize brush set

i went to my counter's 'special event' for this collection (or at least the brush sets / makeup kits etc...) and i was underwhelmed! in the end i am left a bit confused as well, since one of the kits the mua showed me isn't even on the website...! i bought 'buff' blush in the normal format, because that's all i liked from the set, but there's no set posted with buff in it, and the shadows in both kits look totally different from what i saw!

get soft sable for layering. Buy a lippie that will potentially have a chance to get used. Soft sable will impress you. It makes ANY lipstick have a special sheen to it!
Piarpreet, were you using Soft Sable on its own in your full-face pic? Or was it layered? Thanks

There is one kit that is exclusive to the Bay. Perhaps thats the one you saw. It wont be on the website :)

Stopped at my counter tonight. Preordered Fresh Ice mes and For Effect p/p. It was really hard to swatch and peek at the collection because everything was in thrown in a big cardboard box. I figured I'd go back and swatch more this weekend. As long as I preordered what I wanted the most.

Fresh Ice is so pretty. I compared it to Crystal Avalanche while I was there and CA is more opaque and whiter. Fresh Ice was not a true bright white. A bit grayer on me. I loved it.
For Effect is gorgeous. Four hours later and the swatch is still on the back of my hand. There is definite sparkle in it and although I usually stay away from that on my aging eyes, it was too pretty to pass up. Great for the holidays.

I really wanted to love Shimmermint, but all I got was glittery fallout. Seriously, it was everywhere on my hand and barely any color. If it had gone on as smoothly and buttery as Frozen Blue I would have snapped it up. And if I didn't already have alot of blues, I would have grabbed Frozen Blue. Its beautiful.

I swatched Snowglobe too. It was a very subtle, non-frosty highlight. Not anything I was really lusting for, but I could see it being great on skin with fine lines because the subtlety of it wouldn't emphasize aging concerns.

Thats pretty much all I got to swatch. Hope that's helpful to someone.
