Great idea Lou! After I read this I went back and salvaged as much as I could cleanly and put it in a jar. It wasn't much but it will get me through the next couple of days until my replacement arrives.

Why don't you try to use them up. Remember, you can also mix two or three p/p colors together (take it out of the jar with a spatula) to create your own custom colors. This way, it doesn't feel like you have to use the same colors over and over and you won't get bored by them.
 
I posted a couple of examples of mixed up p/p on the PP thread (I believe I posted it there - it might be in another thread).
 
I second that it is very hard to resist not to open new p/p when you get them. I'll wrap mine up in a plastic sleeve and put them immediately in the fridge. This out-of-sight-out-of-mind principle works very well for me and as new p/p come out approximately every 6 - 8 months, I have always something to look forward.
 
I try to keep one or two neutrals (like Painterly or Nubile) in addition to one or two "fashion" colors. This gives me a lot of freedom and I manage to use most of them up. I also have at least one or two BU's of each color I buy, though I never open them back to back. Having said that, I only buy colors were I know that I will use them as I do not want to waste any product if I can avoid it.
 
Finally, you can also use certain colors as a cheek highlighter, so if you need to finish a product, think how versatile it is.

I will just have to take my chances that they will be ok stored as they are until I open them (again, UGH!) to use them. I already have too many in rotation. Vintage Selection, Coral Crepe, Fresco Rose, Rubenesque (that according to your guidelines need to be gone) as well as Treaure Hunt, Idyllic, and Painterly! There is NO way I could put all my stored ones to good use to justify taking them out. Mixing them sounds like a great idea, I just travel so much and end up doing my stage makeup for my shows the same way when I'm rushed for my call times... I just don't think I'll get that creative. You are great for helping! This is all good stuff to know now for the future though!

I'm so sorry to hear this doll! I know how it feels to lose a special product... Especially when it's so new too! Ugh! This misfortune of yours is making me antsy to back mine up since it's still available! Guess at least that aspect is a good thing... That you are at least able to replace it!

Ok I need to transfer some of my pots into the fridge. Since reading those posts that you put up in p/p I had brought a spatula and don't touch my cream products with my fingers or brush until they are out and on the back of my hand to apply, but in reading that.... my backups need to go to the fridge to keep them safe.

I had never even thought about mixing together paint pots... thats a really good idea considering Im in love with mixing Lip Tars in the little mixing well palette I have. Is it best to mix them on plastic or metal surface?

Out of Sight - out of mind - perfect! going to do it as soon as i get home!

I think you can also get those shaker type jars (from mac or whoever else) so that you can put the powder and stuff in the bottom part and only allow a little into the top at a time. so you'll have a how beautiful in a compact and one as a loose powder...not so bad in the end ;)

I did? Lol.

I think my (personal) MES/MSF rules are clear:

- No veins, no buy.
- no MAC OS shopping, only in-person
- skip if in doubt

I tried to find good veining in the G&I MES, but I could not find any. Though I have to admit, my effort in searching for them was minimal in comparison to Lightscapade. I would go on the hunt again for a blue Lightscapade, but G&I for me was all about the delicious b/p and the p/p, in particular Let's Skate as it is such a unique color that cannot be duped.

I hear you on Let's Skate! I got a BU of that one too. It is really special! I need to use it more often.
I don't have a PRO store near me to get my discount, so I take my chances with veining online. I've been disappointed (2 of my Semi Precious shadows were BLAH). But, overall, I'm always glad I ended up with them. My G&I shadows are wonderful. I find if I don't obsess over veining, I enjoy what I actually get a lot more. Sometimes the gamble is worth it and you end up with the MOST unique shadow!
