When I got my first job in my teens, I discovered Electa and Corrado (I grew up in Montreal) and pretty much bought everything in their line I could hope to pull off. It wasn't a ridiculously large stash, but it was a lot of good quality makeup for a kid. I also go into hair colour and products. I indulged while I was in school but once I graduated from uni and moved out on my own, I just couldn't afford it. I still bought the odd lippie or e/s, but nothing like I had. I've always been a huge believer in not spending money I didn't have, and after rent and food, well...

I found MAC in my 20s but by then I had a mortgage and kids came along soon after. I've had Mocha, Retro and VG1 in my makeup bag at all times for over a decade, but I just never got back into makeup in a big way. I'd have a couple of blush, three or four lippies and a quad or two and that would be it.

I was filling my daughter's makeup list this fall at MAC and I ended up swatching a bunch of stuff for myself. I went through my makeup drawer and trashed just about everything and decided I needed to start again. I really only intended to buy a couple of blush, some new lippies, e/s and a liner or two. Not sure what happened to draw me to the dark side, but I've bought just a little more than that.

I have a really good base now and I don't see myself buying at the pace I did over the last six months. I only have one face and can only go through so much stuff. I'm still filling a few holes, so I'll pick some things from the fall/winter lines. After that though, I'll just go back to buying the odd thing. That's what I did when I had what I wanted in my teens, and I'm no different now. That's how I tend to shop in general; get what I want, stop when I'm done. I don't enjoy having more than I think I can use - that's not fun for me.

I need to try and be more like you haha. When I first got into makeup about a year and a half ago (I had some lipgloss and Dior quints before but that's it) I thought I'd get everything I need then get the odd thing...but I am still struggling with it. I've actually gotten a LOT better, but I need to get to the point where it's not a struggle and I have no regrets..

I went to my MAC counter today and they said I have to wait until the 24th, although I could play with the testers...I think your counter is just awesome haha .

I suggest people call their MAC counters and ask if they have things for sale before running over to the store.

My MAC counter actually let me see February's Shop Shop Shop release in the drawer. I know customers aren't really supposed to see it, but they will give me a heads up if they actually have a collection in the back.

The SA said I could purchase the items and take them home today, but I

forgot my Nordstrom gift card at home, so I'm just going to wait for it to launch on Nordstrom.com.

Jaunty is sold out on the MAC site. Not too shocking considering its versatility being a neutral shade. I'm glad I got a BU! Still kicking myself for not getting a BU of Creamy Bisque from MMO and I'm almost to pan on that one.

I ordered MY FIRST order in a MAC store!!!!!! in a REAL one!!!!!! Most of u know i always ordered online! I called the harlem store and i preordered fleet fast and nude on board. I hope I can build a good relationship with the store! its only 5 blocks away!

So Sail La Vie is very close to Scarlet ibis... Thanks for helping me save money. LOL

Decided to do swatches and comps. Now since the inside of my arm is lighter you can see the difference more so with NYX and BR, but I swear on my lips it's hardly different.

I haven't swatched the two side-by-side, but looking purely at internet swatches and comparing them, Rimmel's Kate Moss #12 lipstick looks awfully close to Sail La Vie.

Since I bought the Rimmel one on a BOGO Whim, I think I'm satisfied! I'm still trying to get used to the color on my lips, though!

Ohh and Riviera Life lipglass is now taunting me. Just look awayyy. I'm going to go look at Ulta's NYX sale now, hahaha.

On me (NC15, red lips), SLV doesn't look like SI at all, except in the finish. They both have the same level of brightness and light reflectivity - that sort of velvet sub-neon look, but SLV is totally orange, just not super yellow orange. It's the orange version of SI. I put it on last week and my jaw dropped. One of the most beautiful of all the MAC brights this year. I'd say it's my favorite, right after Party Parrot.

Try it out at a counter if you can, because I don't think it will look the same on different people, just the same way Party Parrot doesn't. Sorry for the enabling, but SLV and Riviera Life are the 2 massive standouts in this collection for me.

I just wanted to say that I've never got the impression that anyone thought they were better then anyone on here. Since I've been here everyone has been nothing but supportive and amazing. And actually really acceptive of others opinions, so I dont know where that came from. You guys are one of the highlights of my day. I love to come to a place where others share my obsession. We all share our lives on here not just makeup. To me its more then a makeup board, we all support each other here.
I love coming here everyday and appriciate you all!

I am really really close to skipping this collection all together. To be honest money is really really tight right now. It's getting so bad my husband has to get a second job, and he owns his own business! I think I need to go on a no-buy until Heavanly Creature. I'm turing 30 in July so am def treating myself with that collection. I hope the makeup bags stay around for a while, cause I still want those!

Great Minds Think Alike!

I bought both Laguna and Orgasm. I really like Laguna; it looks yellower than Matte Bronze when swatched on my arm, but not as much as NoB. It's very natural, I'm wearing it now.

I'd heard a lot of hype about Orgasm but assumed it would be too glittery. Still, I swatched it on my inner arm. Saw it in the mall, saw it outside. LOVE LOVE LOVE. I went back.

No more makeup for this month!
