thanks for the tip!!! its actually really helpful since i want the red in prince noir to show. like a deep red, wine red something like that. thanks
You can bring your tube of prince noir in with you and try it over a few different lip pencils. Nightmoth shows deep red on me and adds redness to various vampy lipsticks, but I think I recall other people saying they use Vino, and then there's luvly's trick of using a true red to add more red tone. Sounds like it's worth it to experiment a bit.

Ok so I went back to see what this was all about cause I had no clue. Havent really been on here so I want to catch up.
LMAO. Did you miss anything? Besides the fact that you THINK you know everything and you DON'T... I'd say no... you didn't miss anything. I'm going to make this short and super sweet. If you knew everything, you wouldn't be on Specktra. You'd be a senior artist for MAC traveling the world or a renowned artist working for high end fashion shows and magazines. But who are you ? A random guy who sits behind the computer and bullies chicks and tries to make them feel you and only you are right. Guess what? YOU'RE NOT.

You are not the king or queen of makeup lovebug. NO ONE has seen YOUR WORK. Anyone can swatch a lipstick on their hand. But let's see you put it into use. Until this happens, get off your high horse, stop attacking people, and HUMBLE YOURSELF. Specktra should be a place of positivity. NOT a place where people feel uncomfortable because some random dude stalks every board and tries to act like he knows everything. Show us your work, make a blog, get on youtube, create a portfolio THEN TALK.

Oh, and I can assure you that I am not the only one thinking this. I'm just the one with enough guts to say it, because it NEEDS to be said. Take HEED to my advice sweetie pie. MEN don't act like this. LOL

So this is what started it egh? You are totally in the right about being able to voice your opinion. Bravo to you about that. BUT there is a way to do that without insulting someone. You have nothing to back up your claim about Mac-Guy but YOUR opinion of him. Personally I have never ever seen him attack anyone and I've been here since 2010. And in the last 10 pages of this thread youve attacked more than one person. He's been nothing but helpful and nice. You are intitled to your opinion, no ones telling you you cant. But there is no need to be so cruel about it. It's called respect. No matter how you feel about someone, everyone deserves respect. It's not what your saying thats most disturbing, its how your saying it.

You sound like a follower or a minion. I'm not going to mention the many people on here who have THANKED ME for standing up and saying something. I said people with common sense and great observation skills KNOW what I'm talking about. Sounds like you are lacking both. And honey, my grandmother told me a long time ago that when you TELL THE TRUTH, people will always call you rude or think you are being mean or hateful. LOL

Think what you want, and call me what you want lovebug. Because I'm not taking it back :-*

Since she doesnt agree with you she has no common sense and is a follower? That is really mean to say, esp since you dont even know her. It seems you preach about having an opinion, but are cruel to people that dont agree with yours.
I know this topic is over but I get really protective over people I care about and have a right to my opinion as well. I have nothing against you Bee, I just dont think people should be talked down to like that. I've dealt with people that talk down to me and others all my life, and dont think its right.

I love you all and dont like when we fight.

It's so weird, this is the first time I've seen this happen on here. So all the animosity is strange to see.

Ok enough of that...Did anyone get the makeup bags? Are they good quality? It's good to see you back shontay! I missed you

Hey ladies and gents, which bronzer do you think would look good on NW 15-20ish skin? I think I've decided to pick up a bronzer... since all the ones I have already are WAY too dark for me. Should I potentially try either Sun Dipped or Soft Sand?

I'll be playing with them at the counter, but I wanna have a slight idea of which I should gravitate toward to begin with.

After watching Dusty's video and T's, I'm curious as to their swatching techniques. Dusty shows all of the shadows looking beautifully pigmented (and they ARE), and T shows them looking not so great. I know T said that she tried NN on the lid to see if it was better and it wasn't - but for me, it swatches terribly but applies beautifully on the lid. I dunno, I think there is either some quality control issues with MAC for this collection or people just aren't working with the products enough to find the best way. I do feel bad for T though as she really didn't get much time to play about with things, everyone will have been harassing her to get things done immediately - I really feel bad for the girl sometimes having to get things up SO quickly. I mean yes, it's her job - but she can't test the products out properly in that space of time in my opinion.

Richelle, RR looks stunning on you! I love that l/s

Edit: I just looked at Dustin's swatches, and I think they are much more true to what I've seen in real life than Temptalia's - especially Feeling Fresh, which is a beaaaaaautiful colour with great pigmentation!

Thanks girl! And Laguna, does it have shimmer / glitter / sheen?
TIA!
bouquet.gif
It has a subtle shimmer, yes. It isn't big chunky glitter or I'd have given it a pass. It's no more than NoB has; in fact, I think it's more subtle than that (although I'd have to try it out a bit more to be sure). It's fairly sheer, but I like that. I'm new to bronzer and I just want a sheer wash of colour.

I just swatched my three bronzers on my inner arm (paler than my face - maybe NC20):

NoB: More yellow, some shimmer (maybe very fine glitter?)

Laguna: More brown, subtle shimmer/glow, most flattering on my skin tone (could be worn as blush)

Matte Bronze: More red, completely matte, most natural of the three I have, the one I would wear to work

I haven't tried them enough to be able to do more than give an initial impression; when I've worn them outside and in various lighting I'll be able to give a more accurate description.

Ok, after playing with Red Racer for a bit I can definitely say it's a keeper. Hubster doesn't give me that why are you wearing red because I hate it look, like he does with Runaway Red. Cannot wait to get my hands on Cult of Cherry....that should look really hot. For now I'll settle with Send Me Sailing.
We've coneverted u! RR LOOKS AMAZING ON YOU. who said something about intimidaidating? Certainly NOT RICHELLE

Yep! I completely agree. Dustin's are so much more true. Feeling Fresh is beautiful and Nautical Navy is so pigmented on the lid!

So I just ordered Sail La Vie along with Lasting Sensation lip liner - can't wait!! I plan on also using it with a red lipliner and/or mixing it with Ruby Woo or something similar to make a colour closer to Scarlet Ibis, which I missed out on.

Anyway, this definitely marks the end of my Hey Sailor haul.

Definitely. Probably.

I'd go with SD because the PLW formula is to die for and gives a really smooth finish. SS is nice too, though SD is definitely easier to blend (which makes it easier for a "bronzer virgin" - if I may call you that). :) Have fun! Bronzers are gorgeous for the warmer weather!

After watching Dustin's video, I agree. His swatches are the best I've seen so far. I also came across Crystalis007. She is soooo adorable. Watched her S3/C3 video a couple of times back then. I certainly felt the same enthusiasm. Love that girl.

I randomly watched Crystalis007 for the first time a few weeks ago, and the first thing I thought was "oh my, she's so bubbly". Haha, I felt like she was talking to me and not at me if that makes sense.

T's skin tone is darker than Dusty's. Also, maybe Dusty used a primer underneath and swatched with a heavy hand? Lighting can also make a huge difference in how the swatches look.

I like T's swatches, but I also like how Dusty swatches them side by side and heavily (so you can actually see the difference, especially with the bronzers). I know T has the swatch gallery where you can move each shade side by side, but it's not the same as actually swatching them side by side like what Dusty did. Regardless, I enjoy looking at both of their swatches.

Yes, sorry - by swatching technique I meant how they did it - did one apply a base and not the other, did either use a brush, just a finger, heavily or lightly? I suppose I wasn't very clear with what I meant by that.

However yes I agree - I love that he does them side by side, but his are definitely more accurate in my opinion of how they all look when using them. I do however always go to T first, so I hope I didn't sound like I disliked her - I'd be lost without T! :)
