So thats what I lost - melanin...amongst other things
lol.gif
but yeah, aging isn't all that bad. I feel better now than when I was half my age.

Oh, & thats too bad about BOR - can they send you another one?

yes.gif
yep, melanin and my mind so far.. I have been widowed twice in 12 years
ssad.gif
.. I am scaring myself.

I have BOR from my testers since last January, but it cracked in half and then it really crumbled.. that is one of the major problems with MSFs they are extremely delicate.

My absolute favorite thing from this collection is Happy Together MB - I'm NW20-25 and it just made my skin look so healthy and glowy - I couldn't stop looking at my cheeks!! The MES are nice too - the colors aren't anything special, but the texture is awesome. I just ordered two more last night!

While it looks more red/burgundy/plum ( I guess thats why it is described as deep rose by MAC) on my face instead of a blue based/plum (which it did on my arm when swatched) I still like it on as I love those rich tones, although I would have preferred the latter shade. Its definitely pigmented as heck. I did try with all care to keep my brush out of the bronzey side
greengrin.gif

However, that bronzey side looked amazing on my eyelids
lol.gif

And to think I was going to cut that side off & send it in a box to Cajunfille

(hope I spelled that right dear)

Thank you for the laugh, ladies! I so agree on this! I tried BoR on my eyelids last night, and it looked amazing! I think those new pigmented MBs actually are eyeshadows! Really big ones!

I am staying at her place until my doggies can get here when I will stay with my mother for a week or so -- then back home
smiles.gif
..So, my sister went out and got me a JAzzed and some lovely NARS skin cream for "aged" skin..lol. I know I have had a rough week but I didn't age that much... or maybe I did. ah well, the poor kid spent $ 70.00 on the cream!

This is a brief synopsis of how an MSF is made:

Oh yes, just like the Mineralize Eyeshadows and Mineralize SkinFinish Natural, all these MSFs are oven-baked to a solid product on a terra cotta pan.

This baking technique is not new to the cosmetic / beauty industry though. There are other companies who bakes their products. So the question now is, why are cosmetics baked?!

Baked cosmetics are made very differently from your typical pressed powder products. Products that are pressed uses binders to hold the powder together and machines are used to press the mixture into the pans. Manufacturers can make thousands of pressed powders an hour this way.

The process of baking products are very much slower and hand crafted. The powdered product is usually mixed with water into a slurry mixture prior pouring into terra cotta discs. The discs are then baked in an oven for 24 to 48 hours usually at a temperature of about 180 degrees. All of the moisture dissipates out of the powder and is absorbed by the porous terra cotta tile. Once the baking process has been completed, each powder is hand finished before being placed into its final component.

Baked cosmetics are unique, because they can be used either wet or dry. Since very few binders, if any are used in the baking process versus traditional pressing, baked products have the same airy lightness of a loose powder.

The textures of these powders are dewy, not dry. So they feel amazing and incredibly soft, similar to a highly micronized powder. And while baked face products can be beautifully sheer and build for flawless coverage, baked eye products can hold a very high level of color, comparable to a loose pigment.

And, that my dear is why they are so delicate, flyaway and so so coveted

Enjoy!!

Actually now that I think about it, when I was at a manufacturing plant in Italy (where many MSFs are made), the product looks like glops of clay while being poured into the cute little molds to make the makeup cupcakes

umm, yeah I doubt you aged that much

Thanks for the msf info - truly interesting & amazing to read! Also, the baking/making process sounds like a craft project to me
tong.gif
I would love to see it done. I want to make my own & use my own colors

I LOVE the middle strip of In The Groove mes!!! Its gorgeous all by itself & really makes my hazel eye color pop.

I did:

1) The ITG middle strip all over eye lid (beautiful deep pearl burgundy) you can also smudge it under the bottom lash line as well
2) A thin lining of Black Line pearlglide top lashline only
3) inner waterline with Chanel's new Cassis liner (a blackend plum)
4) Chanel black mascara mid to outer corner lashes heavy
5) Just the pink side of Hang Loose - used a 109 & buffed into the apples of cheeks & up cheekbone - lightly patted on the violet side (just below mid eye to outer corner of eye) high on upper cheekbone
6) Fuchsia Fix Lip Conditioner form Dsquared on lips

well I loved this all together so much! Hang Loose pink side =

I had my heart set on By Candlelight but I walked away with Happy Together! I think I'll get a lot more use out of it. I'm really pleased with it so far
smiles.gif
But, when I was trying it out, the MUA put that on my cheeks and we also tried out Petticoat on top of Happy Together. It wasn't until after I left that I caught myself in a couple of mirrors and really liked the effect! So... yeah, now I think I'm going back for Petticoat. My wallet's so unhappy with me right now, hahah. I'm just... going to ignore its cries.

Alright, I did some extensive testing in my stash and have come to the decision that Band of Roses has to be returned. When BOR is swatched mixed or swatched on the darker side, it becomes a dupe for the Illamasqua blush in Thrust ($20) that I own. Thrust is matte, but when I dust one of my shimmery MSFs over it (the lightest part of Blonde for example) it's duped. I'm not into collecting blushes that are that close in color so yeah...I'll sleep on it some more and I'll know tomorrow, for sure, if I'm going to take it back.

Elegant-One ...your avatar is gorgeous! I love the luscious hair.

On another note, I find it interesting the discussion thread is 151 pages but there's only 5 pages in the swatch forum for ITG. What happened?

I too am surprised ITG MES isn't getting any love on this thread. I used the middle strip on my lower lash line -- so pretty.

I went in for Hang Loose MB and walked out with Happy Together. When used with SR MSF =
