Still thinking about Tweet Me eyeshadow & Super Kissable lip color

I have been thinking about getting SoY, but I already have Antiqued. From side by side swatches I seen on the computer, they look identical. Can anyone tell me what they think? Is there enough difference between the 2?

I thought that might be the case as well, but even though they are similar, they're not quite identical:





As you can see, Antiqued appears to show much more of a soft golden shimmer, while SoY seems to be more red and a bit darker. I personally tend to get drawn toward these shades a lot (I have Glamour Check, too, which is also close to SoY but slightly different), but I feel that it's these subtle nuances that bring out the character, and make one shade more appropriate for a given look over another.



And I do agree about the dupability of a lot of this collection. I have a couple hundred shades myself in just e/s (not counting pigments >_< ), but I think the quality of these is what makes me feel justified in the expense. I do wish they were cheaper, but I also know that I would regret not getting them, because they are such a breeze to work with.

@ tiffany With Flaunting It I just apply a little bit and then smooth it out on my lips using my fingers or a brush. I find the doe foot applies too much.

I really want to love this collection but there are so many dupes for the eyeshadows in the regular line and they are so overpriced!
I think even the MA's feel weird about it when talking about the collection. Everyone knows that MAC is supposed to be the more affordable higher end brand. Don't get me wrong the lip products are amazing..not lipstick not gloss something in between. Love them but it's sad that they are priced so high and not everyone can enjoy them or purchase more than few..The eyeshadows are nice but not that different from starflash texture. I am really disappointed in MAC.

You can get a Urban decay book of shadows for the price of 3 of these eyeshadows. Save your money and get the Naked Palette..seriously.

First, THANKS for the kind words about my looks. I have made my way through about 1/2 of the shadows--have the blues, pinks and metallics to do... Everyone who has posted has done a great job and looks fabulous--I love seeing all the pics.

I have to agree with the comment above to a large degree. I think the formula is great and the shows are lovely BUT there are many dupes. Since I have 125+ MAC shadows, and 120+ pigments collected, I didn't need 90% of these shadows. I struck out with Cham Pale so I splurged...I probably will keep them since they are very wearable and I love the texture, vibrancy and blendability.... but I could have saved a lot of moolah. I am going to do dupe sheets this week and post.

Couldn't quite capture this on camera how it looks in person, but I thought I'd do another one with Peek-at-You (again, inner-third and highlight), with Tweet Me (wet using Fix+, and let me tell you, this shines!) all over the lid and SoY in the crease. I couldn't believe how easy it was to get SoY to do exactly what I wanted





This is so fun, I feel like for the next week half the gals in my town will be walking around with my experiments while I play with these, lol

I've had the Urban Decay Naked palette since July and love it...what a serious value that was with these being FULL sized e/s; the reason it's so beloved is because there aren't a lot of values like that on the market. What made it such a huge value to me, was that i use all but one of the shadows regularly, and didn't have a single one of them before buying the palette. But any larger palette (the BOS ones for example-which are not full sized) ends up being a true waste to me, because I only use half of the palette at most and it takes up a lot of room...not a fan of big palettes like that. The last BOS NYC palette: I already owned about 4 of the shades in it. I am not sure how much of a value it is, if I end up not using it? I don't like just having things to have them because they were cheap. In the end, you waste more money and product that way...jmo. More isn't always better.

Each of these eyeshadows is more than twice the size of a regular MAC e/s for only 5 dollars more. A lot of MAC fans end up buying backups of their favorite LE e/s...and this saves people from having to do that. That's a savings of about 8$-$10 per eye shadow if you look it that way (it would be 29 for two reg. sized shadows). You compared to starflash as far as the texture: is the peacocky e/s that much different/better than "starflash"...maybe not. But starflash isn't permanent either. Say you got 1 or 2 back ups of your favorite starflash eyeshadow? That cost you more than getting one of these.

I think a lot of LE collections have similar/comparable colors to the permanent line or collections released before...it's usually a color story or fashion trend they are creating these LE collections around...which is why they are LE. Peacocky is not different than any previous collection in that regard.

So...I guess the question is how do you measure value? I measure it by getting something I love, that i don't have a ton of, and enjoying the heck out of it for a decent price. If I found a great color at MAC and saw that Stila had an exact dupe for it for 4$ more...I would still buy the Stila one, because I love the texture of the Stila e/s so much more and Stila e/s pans are larger than MAC e/s pans so you get more product....$4 more is still a better value to me personally if I think a product is a much better quality.

But regarding this collection: If I thought I had a ton of dupes for the e/s I got, I wouldn't have bought them. As it stands though, I have about 30, give or take, of the regular sized MAC eyeshadows and *love* about 9 of them-several of which are LE colors (Vibrant Grape, Sketch, Fig.1, Dazzlelight, Femme Fi, Glamour Check, Birds and Berries,Romp and Sable)....none of these are 'close' in color to the eyeshadows I bought from Peacocky. Over the years I have become much pickier about texture and pigmentation as I swatch what's out there so I often do re-buy similar colors when I find a superior texture/pigmentation. I think a lot of us stick to the same basic types of colors because we know what looks good on us (and some can wear a larger color range than others)...I've just accepted that there are going to be some dupes in my collection. I really try and take stock before I buy anything, and make sure I am not duping. I even have a rule that I try my best to only buy what I can swatch in person, so that I don't end up buying a ton of stuff I don't need or already have. I bought 5 eyeshadows in total from Peacocky, and I think maybe 2 of them I have *similar* matches but not exact dupes for. That's still a value to me, personally, because I enjoy the blendability, texture,colors and size of these. I love how they go together for different looks as well. At the end of the day...as long as everything gets used and isn't wasted, that's ok with me.

I did a look tonight with a purple smokey eye with Mating Call and Noir Plum. Style Curve from MC and Briar Rose from VV...turned out awesome!

I am definitely doing a purple smoky eye using those two, and also UD Freakshow or MUFE 92

I gave a couple of these shadows a try today. I have to say, much to my disappointment, that these didn't deliver as I thought they would when I swatched them. They're not bad, they blended fine, but the colour itself didn't show up near as much as I would have liked. I used Top of the Posh and Centre Stage, with Base Light as a base. Centre stage went on as a fairly muted ashy brown colour (not nearly as dark as it appeared in the pot), and while Top of the Posh is a really pretty light pink with a gold sheen, it didn't show up all that much. I'll give these another go tomorrow, with UDPP and maybe try the pink paint (Canton Candy?) as a base, which I'm sure will make Top of the Posh pop more. So far then, for the price that these are, I feel underwhelmed. I did find though, that these had only the tiniest amount of fallout compared to most other metallic shadows, and they did wear well, more so than the starflash shadows did. I'm hoping the other shadows I picked up will work out a little better.

Most of my lipsticks are either pink or nudey so thats why I was thinking Flaunting It. I'm just scared it will look how Riveting looked on me (which looked HORRID on me) I know its not a dupe but its plummy and Figured Woo Me would be safer.
Or I might actaully do what I SHOULD do....just have what I got and forget SOY and another lip color...but its SO hard! I love this coll so much and plan on taking it easy on the rest of the collections for this year....so why not? LOL

I finally got a chance to try Flaunting It on today. So pretty and wearable. I can see this being my easy go to for work. Also for the Chanel ladies out there, I find that these are not as drying as the Chanel liquid lipsticks like Dragon, etc (sorry I forget the name of the formula). Do you find that to be your experience?

I don't find the Rouge Lacques drying (I love the formula, in fact), but I do agree that the Mac ones remain more moisturizing after continuous wear. The Chanel ones tend to become more like a satin finish once the initial gloss has faded.

I went back and forth with SoY for a few reasons. I thought it was too warm as well. What I was missing is that it was brightening my eyes up, and since I had winterized my makeup so much, I thought I looked out of place for the season. I had to look past all of that! When its all sunny and nice outside in a few months, I am going to be happy I got it. I always liked SoY, but I was unsure about it for the wrong reasons.

I also ended up using SoY with Centre Stage to cool it down a bit. its also going to look good with Dandizette and any other blues I want to wear. Looking at my regular MAC shadows I am noticing that SoY will work with some of them very well. So basically, I will get lots of use out of it. Check your stash and wee what you can work it with. I can't wait to try it out with Sketch or Embark in the outer corner/crease.

Try them with out the base. The MA said she skipped the paint pots because the metallic nature of the shadows make them perform better on their own. I know we are used to using a primer all the time, but these shadows are a different formula. usual routines may not necessary apply. I personally put concealer on my lids to buff out any imperfections and then i apply the shadow. the texture of a paintpot didn't work well for me with the peacocky shadows.

spectable of yourself looks stunning in swatches but how alike to twinks is it?
