MAC - Peacocky discussion

Yup! They are :) and will be the same price as the TT ones as well.

Thank you HerGreyness! I love these so much!
Hmm, I'm conflicted, it would have to be shadows I knew I could get a lot of use out to "justify" getting a big one like that. The only color from TT I thought was that sort of color was golden crown and it swatched badly. But maybe this collection has that sort of color, I don't know yet. Maybe the one that looks a little like vex at a glance. If I don't get a lot of use out of it it'll just be there in y drawer looking pretty, like my copper sparkle pigment. :p

oh I am really getting aggravated...

the site is not letting me post

rant over, re: lipsticks

they are beautiful, complex and sophisticated colours... worthy of the Peacocky name.

I only received a few but that was in 2009 -- so I know they have been revised a few times to date.

HerGreyness, do you remember the lipsticks in the tube going back fast? I remember some time ago there was a discussion about that, but I could not find the original post.
Really looking forward to the lippies, a lot more than to the eyeshadows, but if they go bad faster than either lipsticks or lipglass I might just get one or two.
TIA :)

And thank you for posting the pictures, they really made me more excited about the eyeshadows.

^ I will make some time tomorrow to see what I have filed for the ls on this collex -- these may not be the real colours released tho.. just a heads up.

they are beautiful products and worth the money as they are a larger sized pan.
Internetchick, don't take this as anything personal, but there is nothing in that photobucket album which I would not show here or let everyone else know -- if I can show something, I will.

I have had a few hacking attempts, as well as a nasty heckler on Specktra -- so anyone "following" my photos makes me nervous. As a favor, could you please remove yourself as a "follower" -- it would just make me feel easier about posting pics on photobucket and I don't want to stop posting because most of the kids on here seem to enjoy them.

Thanks in advance,

I had asked nicely to remove the "follower" status on my album -- since it was not done, I have blocked all folllowers.

I had that wacky allglam site copy W W pics which have been revised a few times and are therefore not accurate. I cannot make myself available and vulnerable to getting my pics lifted or my info taken without my knowledge or consent... I am sorry but my work is sensitive and there are time restraints on when information can be released. I cannot risk these images being put on blogsites when they are primary working images.

I will still post any pics that can legally be posted within the time frame allowed.
.
thanks to all for your kind words and understanding.

Dear HerGreyness, there are quite a few cheesy sites like allglam, sad to say. Now that MAC has buckled down on advance info, pictures are in even greater demand and so, obviously something a sleazy aggregator site would want to get their hands on to sleazily bump up their traffic.

My best advice to you if you want to keep posting pix to your loyal fans here at specktra without getting preyed upon by random sites, in order of importance:

1) Only post them in the main collection threads. If your pictures get put in the swatch threads, it just makes it easier for them to be found and snagged by outsiders. If it was me, I wouldn't let them be posted there. Sure, this is less convenient for people who want to refer back to them, but I think hardcore specktrettes won't have a problem going back through the threads to find your posts.

2) Watermark them, before someone else (like allglam) does. This can be a bit of a pain, but maybe photobucket has some quickie way of tagging all your pictures with a watermark?

3) Call me a fascist, but I wouldn't let other sites link to your (watermarked) photos even if they give you a credit for them - 9 times out of 10 they are looking for easy ways to generate traffic for their sites and are just profiting off of your hard work. I saw some other site that used your Peacocky pictures - they gave you credit, but they still titled the post something along the lines of "Latest Sneak Peek of Peacocky", as if they had the personal hookup, which they do not. Honestly, that burned me up when I saw it.

It sucks trying to be enthusiastic about a subject you love when there are so many folks just trying to make a quick buck on the internet. I'm not sure if photobucket has settings to deny hotlinking directly to your photos from outside sources, or denying direct downloads of anything other than thumbnail sizes, but check and see - because all of that will also help keep the vultures out while still leaving yourself free to share with people who appreciate your hard work.

Anyhow, I hope it all works out. It's so damn hard to be a happy-go-lucky idealist who just wants to share without being taken advantage of nowadays.

^ Liba points out some good times there about the photos. it sucks that people try and take them :( i think watermarking is the first step and also putting them only in the colour story threads and not the swatch ones is a good idea too.

I didn't ignore you, I simply didn't see this until now. If you had PMed me I would have known sooner, as I don't check this thread often. I was not trying to cause trouble.

So sorry that this is happening to you. That is not nice of them at all.

I agree with liba. You should put a watermark on your image. Make them hard to remove, and those people will leave your image alone. I hope. This is unbelievable. Hugs to HerGreyness.

Photobucket has the option to add a watermark and probably also for the other options you mentioned. If you are looking for an easy program to do it for you I recommend Picasa. Let me know if I can help you sort this out. It's the least we can do.

And thanks for checking up on the lippies, I really appreciate it :)
It's so sad that it has come to this.

Thank you for the pictures HerGreyness
amuse.gif
.

I thought I was over any MAC collections until I saw the pictures
sigh.gif
. So far I'm liking the red-bronze, blue/tea/turquoise, darker red, and the orange one (although I think it kinda look similar to NARS Taj Mahal).

About people stealing pictures... unfortunately the internet makes it easier for such bad behavior
smash.gif
. I'm sorry you have to go through this, HerGreyness.
On the other hand, internet also means more lovely forums like Specktra, where I could chat with my fellow make up lover

I am going to try to hold myself back on this collection, but every time I look at pics, I get attached. I know that all of the dark shades will come home with me (black, red, green, blue, purple, brown) and I would be willing to pass lighter shades except that they seem perfect as inner corner/inner third colors for me because I despise fallout there especially.

And then we have the lip products. No way am I going to be able to skip those. I'm trying to set aside some cash, but I've been handing it out left and right for Christmas gifts. Any MAC gift cards or cash I get for Christmas will be used on this collection.

But I need swatches! These new pics are great, but I need to budget, MAC!

Now that I've repeated what I always say in this thread, I'm off to try and get a three hour nap before I have to get up for class.

liba, thank you for the good advice. I have only been posting in the main discussion /topic thread -- and yet they still get lifted.

I cannot legally watermark because I would be in violation of contracts as the images belong to my company (although I am the company it is not legally my personal property).... so the images do not belong to me personally. That is why take pics at home, and on my personal camera not my company equipment. I did find info in photobuck which will block copying and also blocked all users.. No copying images, no followers -- access is available on thru Specktra, which is where I personally post them. It is still a fine grey line tho.

I know the bloggers want this information as if they had it first.. but that is the nature of the beast and that is precisely the reason why the Cosmetic companies have clamped down on any image /info release too far in advance of the full release of the products. For a few hits on their websites, the Bloggers really have spoiled it all for all of us... sorry, but that is the way it is now. I fear it may get more stringent.

I will continue to follow the regs and just post what I am able to legally.... and hope Photobucket holds up its end.

It's so sad that it has come to this.

Thanks for the offer bis -- I will see how I manage with Photobucket now that I have blocked a lot of info.... For legal purposes I cannot watermark with my nic -- it would have to be my Company name and that I cannot do for obvious reasons... I do appreciate your offer to help with a different site if it comes to it.

I will let you know as soon as we can locate some lippies and my brain clicks back to 2009.

I have this insane urge to try Peacocky lipstick with I Want Candy lipglass (Alice + Olivia)... because it isn't distinctive enough already...

I'm seriously going to be in trouble with this collection, because the more I look, the more things I want. The orange eye shadow would never have been on my list from the description, but now that I've seen HerGreyness' swatches, it's one of the ones I want the most. As Layla said, I could see myself passing on the lighter colours, except that they look beautiful and the buttery texture of these powders would likely prevent fallout or flaking.

There aren't as many lipsticks that grab me from the descriptions (although, like I said with the shadows, a lot can change with swatches), but Love Peck and Peacocky are musts... Here's hoping that my contract gets extended again or that I find another job very quickly!

I just have to say this and I might or might not get flack for it but here I go anyways makeup to me at least is supposed to be FUN not problem causing irritating who get info first who gets what who makes what crap it seems it has in a way become since I have gotten back into it. It sucks that their are so many bloggers makeup enthusiast who are ruining it for those of us who simply enjoy or make a legit career out of it.
I appreciate getting new information it makes it easier for me to budget what I can get with what little monies I have but not at the sake of someone getting into legal trouble or causing someone else any kind of grief.
I think MAC and other companies have cracked down because sales have reflected that early releases of certain collection ie venomous villains adversely affects the sales of smaller/other ones such as p&p or dare to wear. Not to mention I don't think MAC appreciated getting hounded right before vv was released. We should all just remember that makeup is makeup its fun it is exciting but its not the end all be all.

Back to topic I am trying to keep my excitement for this collection in check I am not sure I will be able to get all the colors Id like due to I am gonna probably be flat broke after the holidays 2 kids will do that lol. Thank you hergreyness and to everyone else who contributes to specktra and the industry.

I apologize in advance if I have offended anyone that is not my intent if I have please let me know and I will delete/edit to peacocky topic only.

As a blogger who used the pictures Her Greyness provided (after asking) I'd like to say that I posted the pictures after going through and trying to match up names to the shadows shown. I wasn't posting to get traffic but to show my readers pictures of a collection I'm really excited about. If I was doing this solely for traffic I'd be posting photos for every single Mac collection. The point I'm trying to make is that as a blogger I'm doing this for fun. I'm a science student at university, this is just a hobby. Not all bloggers are out do this to get profit.
