MAC Playland Collection - April 7, 2014

Oh, I'm not saying others shouldn't buy yellow lipstick; just that I won't because I know I wouldn't wear it. I think people should buy products that they think will work for them and that they'll enjoy using; I just don't think it makes a lot of sense to buy a product just because it has a cute name.
This is why I'm skipping the yellow lipstick and gloss. I doubt it would look good on me, and I just won't wear it enough to justify getting it.

those lipglasses definitely look like they could be from the playland collection!
Oh, wow! If the lipglasses are that bright, I want all of them minus the yellow one. I guess that makes 4 lipsticks, 4 lipglasses, and 2 CC's for me... plus possible backups! I just hauled FoF today, so I think I'm gonna go on a "low buy" starting tomorrow until April. That always seems to be an expensive month for me.

Could anybody tell me how well the CC's work on the lips? Or would it be a waste of money if I were to buy them for that purpose?
I like the CC's! I use them on both the lips and the cheeks. The one called Out For Fun was my go-to spring/summer lip/cheek combo. That being said, I don't think I'd go for a CC just to use it on my lips. There are lipsticks way better. I liked these for the ease of a one and done product. So if it isn't a color you'd use on lips and cheeks, it might not be worth it. Go for a lippie instead. JMO HTH

Ok awesome thank you :) the reason I ask is coz I have combination skin and cream products never last on my face. Money saved!

This collections name makes me think of the great creepy/ fantastique vibe of San Francisco's long defunct Playland. Unfortunately I don't think that's what I will be getting.

Head in the Clouds sounds dreamy!

I was looking forward to trying the Casual Colors as I wasn't into makeup hoarding when they first came out but these colors seem a little bright for me...but if someone has "Have a Nice Day" from the previous casual colors they don't want I'll take it.

I am excited about these lipsticks, the colors and mostly the AF finish! I am hoping there is a color like Candy Yum-Yum. I can't wear that color well….even though I love it, simply because it is a matte. It just looks like I'm wearing fluorescent sidewalk chalk on my mouth, and I don't have a gloss for over top that matches. AF seems to be a more forgiving finish, for me.

Haha, nah. I'm a matchy or coordinating gloss kind of girl. :haha:
Dork! What about making your own? Do you have a shadow or pigment in a similar colour? Buy a clear gloss in a wand dispenser and pop some shadow or pigment in there and presto change-o. A custom matching gloss

I know, total dork-o-rama over here.

Humm…I guess I could mess around with mixing medium and some pigments!! Maybe Magenta Madness from Punk Couture would work doing that?! Thanks for the idea! I'm not the most creative of MAC girls on my own, ha!

I hope to keep my haul to just two items: Red Balloon and Happy-Go-Lucky. Even better if we can get swatches before launch and I can rule them out.

I'm just so sold on this collection already. I adore pastels and the retro carnival vibe. Now if they would just release a Fresh Amour dupe, or the original, I'd be pretty damn pleased.

Not a MM. It won't give you the shine factor you're looking for. Just a clear gloss (lustrewhite would be the best, as it's clear and has a wand, unless you want to use a drugstore brand like NYX), and Magenta Madness was the one i was thinking of as well! Or even Silly shadow if you have that one from Fashion Sets?
