Okay, putting my politics away for the moment. I've probably irked enough people.

My thing with the promo picture is that it looks more like it's advertising a fashion line/horror flick rather than a makeup collection... I would *never* look at that and say "wow, looks like a great makeup collection is coming out!" It does, however, look like a ghost film promo picture. I'd be curious as to what products they actually used in that photo. I do have a few products that I *may* purchase from this collection depending on the donation MAC is making.

Right now my mom and sisters said that that doesn't happened anymore or at least is not reported that much because of the drug war that's going on but still I think it's a great idea from mac and Rodarte if they donate something to the families of those girls.
I think mac collections are just that, collections of beautiful makeup and that in no way they think(mac or the people collaborating with them) that because of the name of a collection they're going to offend someone.

At least I don't feel offended because of the names but that is just my opinion.

Wow... thank you for your story!

I hope your family continues to do well.

I agree with Shadowy Lady and truly nicole. While some of the items sound interesting, I'm definitely going to be passing this one.

I have to agree with some of the ladies here, the colours are not going to work for someone who's my skintone they are too light and would not show up. So i'll be passing as well.

No, we are the "Nordic" part, with Denmark and Norway (Iceland maybe? Is there MAC in Iceland?). I wouldn't be surprised if the UK was it's own unit.

As for this collection I think it might turn out to be a Harvey Nick's exclusive or something like that. But I am just guessing.

I actually did not know about this. Yet I do read newspapers and watch news on TV. I also know I'm not alone in saying this. So whether you agree with the idea behind this collection or not, MAC actually did raise awareness about this issue.

Thanks InspiredBlue for explaining this. Never thought about Finland and Sweden being different markets in MAC's structure.

As of now, I think I will be getting Badlands + lip erase. I will need to see some face charts to figure out what else I'm getting.

8 hours later and I have changed my mind once again. Just the lip erase for me, which I guess I can just order by phone. but, I will wait. Basically a skip.

Badlands is pretty, but as much as I tell myself I wear neutrals, I don't.

Hmm... I'm looking at erine's swatch of Quinceanera and wondering if there's a dupe for it? it doesn't look too impressive to me and I've only got two things on my list thus far. -pauses-

whoa, wait only two? :X I'm scaring myself now.

I find the ethereal palette of the collection quite appealing, although I realise why it's a stretch for most. Perhaps because I don't have a lot of similar colours, I'm still interested in picking up a few things. Since they've released the product shots, I've gone back, reread the descriptions and now I think I'm interested in the following (pending seeing it in person)

Ghost Town
Sleepless
Bordertown
Sleepwalker
Softly Drifting

I already have a few opalescent nail lacquers, so I *think* I can skip these. Quinceanara sounds easily dupe-able from my existing collection. The description of the glosses sound lovely, but I'm aware that they'll be gross on application and won't show enough of the colours. Wish they'd done these as lustreglasses. Rose Slate seems like I must have a dupe, but I honestly can't think of what it is. I'm assuming it looks a lot like Sweetie, but I ran out of that a while back. (And I've skipped every blue-pink lippie so far this year thinking that I must have a dupe for it.)

I did manage to track down the fictionalised account of Juarez I was looking for, but unfortunately, only found it in French so far. (My French isn't so strong that I want to go tackling a 900 page book at this point.) Of course, it's available on Amazon, but part of me really misses the exhilaration of being able to find things in actual, physical book stores. (I feel the same way about music.)

There are no official face charts for this collection, but I'm sure all MAC stores and select partnered stores (probably Nordstrom, Dillards, and/or Bloomingdales) which will carry the collection will have collection face charts for their look books.

I don't know if it's already been posted, but here is an official MAC blurb for the collection:

A haunted, hazy melancholy, like a '50's song wafting from the radio of a broken-down blue truck in a sleepy Mexican border town, a girl dressing in the dark, mixing florals, plaids and prints with elements of transparency and opaqueness. The inspiration this season for the sleep-walking dreamscape of Kate and Laura Mulleavy, two seemingly demu sisters from Pasadena, California, who have managed to turn the international fashion world upside down, with collection after collection of some of the most technically twisted and elaborately constructed clothes so unsual and fascinating, we simply had to form a MAC collaboration. Created from the Rodarte leitmotif, in which primitivism meets futurism for a strange new world, the MAC colours are dramatic and heavily detailed... two handmade baked Mineralize Eye Shadows define the idea of artisanal craftsmanship. Lipglass poured in four layers - one in a warm pink and mint colour wave, the second in a cool violet and grey variation. Desert taupes, ice whites and blue-pinks are taken from the clothes for Pigments and lipsticks. Soft, "Beautiful Zombie" Powder and Powder Blush are embossed with the chic Rodarte logo. Only for the most sophisticated among us, the rage for Rodarte is on!

News flash from Christine @ temptalia:

"We understand that product names in the M·A·C Rodarte collection have offended our consumers and fans. This was never our intent and we are very sorry. We continue to listen carefully to the comments we have received and have the following plans to address concerns:

We are committed to donating $100,000 to a non-profit organization that has a proven, successful track-record helping women in need and that can directly improve the lives of women in Juarez in a meaningful way.

We are changing the product names in the M·A·C Rodarte collection.
As we have done in the past, please be assured that we will communicate details regarding our progress in this matter.

Of course I see all the wishes to talk about the political background of this collection and share your opinions freely about it but I also think about all those members who come to this thread because they want to be informed about the beauty products themselves (textures, dupes, ...)

Having a seperate Rodarte discussion in Chatter or Deep Thoughts forum independend from the products of this collection (not the idea behind it!) would not be disrespectful for all your opinions in any way and nobody should feel banned from here but it will make things easier to oversee I guess.

I'm the only one who wears makeup anyway let alone THAT crazy ass look haha

This look actually was a part of the Rodarte Runway show for the collection the line is based off. The MUA said he was inspired by smokey eye look and something about a dreamscape look or something. I don't remember him saying anything about death or the situation in Juarez. I like some of the products and plan to get some things. I don't think MAC had ill intentions.

Also how many people who want to boycott MAC are willing to boycott the electronics, fabric and other factories, companies etc that are allowing certain conditions to exist. This has been occuring for 15+ yrs in Juarez and how many people have tried to change it by not purchasing clothes, etc. made in the factories. I know this may not be the forum for this, but I felt I should include it. Plus I think more research should be done before judging MAC....innocent until proven guilty.....IMO. Still doing my research on it. btw I have some of the pigments and plan to get badlands only probably.
