Totally agree with this. Having said that the proceeds are going to help women in Mexico, it's a boneheaded move to turn around and say "actually, we're canceling the collection- no products, no money, never speak of it again". I'm hoping that there's a misunderstanding somewhere. Maybe it's being delayed?

I like the new names! But all I would really be interested in buying is Desert Pink and Pressed Flower. Probably not going to buy anything.

I wonder what is going to happen...

I thought fashion was supposed to be edgy and MAC was supposed to be a little edgy too. I'd rather have insensitive than mamby-pamby political correctness. Sorry, I am not interested in the new names, and think this one will be a skip. I was really kind of looking forward to the white lippy, the blush and the BP's but honestly cannot see getting them anymore.

I guess in theory it is just makeup but for me a rose by any other name just isn't as sweet...

I agree. I liked the names for some of the products. The whole controversy and demands made on Rodarte and MAC have gone way out of hand.

It's a shame because I REALLY liked this color collection too, and way freakin more than Fabulous felines and even Venomous Villains. It's right up my alley, except the pink blush.

I was planning on:

Ghost Town l/s (I'm just going to keep calling it that)
Pressed Flower l/s (maybe)
Dreamlike l/s
Solar Wind l/g
Soft Night MES (depending how close it is to Hot Contrast)
Far Away/ Sleepwalker MES
Lullaby BP

Quite a haul for a smallish collection, but I think it's nice to have a very muted palette that's not just about beige and flesh tones and that has an edge to it.

i don't understand why she even bothered to make the video to be honest. did she really not like the shadow for what it was? or was she not liking it just because of the background to the collection? and the fact that she said mac is 'shit' for putting out the collection when they are her employer isn't very smart at all!

I agree, not a smart choice, and I'm not sure why she would do the review at all, way too biased. You shouldn't bad mouth your employer like that for one thing, especially in a place where they are able to find you. It makes me question, if she thinks we should all just boycott MAC, what is she doing still working there if she finds the whole thing so utterly repulsive? She never mentions that they are now donating all of the proceeds from the collection either. I think that has made a world of good, although some will disagree with me.

She also didn't seem too knowledgeable, she doesn't seem to have any idea what Rodarte is or how to pronounce, as she never mentions it is a collaboration with another designer which is why the collection was themed around Juarez in the first place. She claims that she has done all this research, so I assume she would at least know that. Also I don't think the melange' in a MES are meant to be used as separate colors, correct? I mean when it is an MES that is divided into different colors, yes, but not when the colors are swirled together.

I probably won't be buying anything from this collection anyhow, although I might buy "Pressed Flower" lipstick if I like it from the swatches.

Oh, and I just wanted to add that I do not think it's wrong for the people that are going to boycott the collection, but I think the way she's going about it is the wrong way. She's not presenting all of the facts and she's telling us that it's a crappy product any way from her extremely biased point of view.

First of all, I really hope they still release this, because I SERIOUSLY need those two MES.

Second of all, this is just my opinion, I think it was foolish of people to continue to complain about this collection after MAC announced that they would make a donation. A bunch of self-righteous bloggers now just negated any good that could have been done with that donation. I think the victims would have rather had the money than stupid PC bull.

Done with my rant now.

Oh my, can you imagine the confusion that must be going on internally in MAC! Telling some that its canceled & others its not
icon_eek.gif
I was wondering if maybe some stores like Macys pulled out not wanting to be part of the controversy?

I really love that blush too

It makes her look pretty hypocritical if she's their employee. "They're complete shit- except when they're signing my paycheque!"

I think they have it under control
choochoo.gif
but if a retailer is scared they will not carry it, so maybe that's the case -- in which case, her Supreme Highness Enabler, will have to order online from MAC

i think after so publically stating that they're donating all the profits from this collection, cancelling it is as big a PR disaster as the original product names. i doubt they're callous enough to back out of a commitment like that, or willing to damage their reputation by doing so.

i'm planning on getting the white and taupe lipsticks if i can
yes.gif
i was going to get the blush, but it looks fairly dupe-able and i'm not sure i want the rodarte logo staring me in the face when i open up my blush palette.

yes her 'review' was pointless to me and if mac saw it i am sure they'd have something to say also. if you feel that strongly about it either leave or hush up about the people who pay you each month!

i am still only getting the white lipstick. nothing else appeals to me. but i must say white gold is an awesome pigment to own! so if people want that i'd say go for it... although it may actually be a pro item now... hhhmmmm
