Russian and Slovenian are close enough for both peoples to understand the basic idea of the text, yes
Although it all depends on the dialect, speed of speaking...if Putin is babbling on about how great he is, we will understand him
But it of course can't be compared to a knowledge of English language

So true. My 38 year-old ass is starting up language classes again next month: french and arabic. My french needs help, as I haven't used it enough and it has turned to utter crap (or shall I say merde). The arabic is something new.
There are about 7 languages I would like to speak. That shouldn't be a problem, right?
