Yes, I would never share any of my makeup products with anyone. Not even my sister.
I'm okay with my own germs, lol.

Only time it's really an issue is if I get a cold. If you're sick, you have to sanitize anything you used especially the few days before you got sick. That's when you're contagious.

I don't sanitise anything and I'm still alive.

It actually can be fun being on a "must-finish-mission." And having some new, unopened glosses waiting to be deflowered is a great motivation to finish an old one. It is amazing how long a product can last when you are desperate to finish it though.

It really can! I have maybe 7 or 8 lipglasses that I need to finish, so that can be my mission over the next month.

It sounds ambitious, but if you stick to the plan, you can do it. And you will be ready for new gloss purchases when So Reel comes out :)

That's right! I almost added Pink Poodle to my cart today, but I only want to rebuy it when I know I can definitely finish it. I still have to finish up Love Nectar, Wildly Refined, and Hush Hush Rose at least before I start buying some more glosses. And Reel Sexy will be my next big haul too, so it will be just in time!

i think i need to try this too - i chucked out so many old glosses and lip sticks the other day. i was off sick from work and passed some time smelling everything :p

I need to try these out too. Someone described the texture as similar to lip gelees which I love but some swatches look patchy.

i did this a little while ago as well, with my glosses but i still need to weed through the lipsticks...
i put aside a few not so fresh glosses for back to mac, but i kind of want to wait to do that because i don't really want to add more lipsticks/glosses to my collection right now...i want to reduce items that go rancid!
does anyone know if it's possible to back to mac for an eyeshadow instead? am i making that up, or do some stores allow that?

anyway, i'm definitely on a use-up mission with my glosses - i like the idea of finishing one in exchange for a new acquisition, and these are definitely the item that goes bad on me first.

It's a great way to keep a collection in the "healthy" range (i.e. non-hoarder size!), while making sure that no products go bad. It works very well for me. None of my (open) glosses are older than six months; anything beyond that date is just gross and unsanitary. There are so many glosses coming out each months, it's really unnecessary to keep too many around. I always buy BU's though, but I usually open them at a later date, so I don't get bored of one particular color or finish.

PS: Yes, you can B2M for e/s, though just the regular ones.

thanks! i will definitely prefer to get an eyeshadow, only because i don't want to keep those containers around till i am ready for more lipstick/gloss!

i really want to make my collection non-hoarder size, but unfortunately, i think it already has hoarder tendencies! i know there are plenty of people who have more makeup, but i am personally starting to feel overwhelmed, so i think i need to 'nip things in the bud'! i'm thinking to do a major cull, and try to get rid of the things i really just don't wear...no matter how exciting they were when they came out...and not to get too carried away with the hype. (a little bit carried away has to be permitted though.)

Hmm. I tend to go more 8 months (at the very most), but I do typically use a product up all the way. I generally have an everyday lipgloss (MAC or not - usually a sheer overlayer for my lipsticks), and about 2-3 different colors I will cycle through. Sometimes it takes me anywhere between 3-8 months to finish up a lipgloss completely, anyway, so I haven't verged on the territory of tossing too much product out. I know what you mean though, an expired lipglass is not only unsanitary, but it just doesn't work the way it's supposed to, either. Ewws.

I actually just use disposable wands for my lipglosses... is that weird? lol that way, it will last longer.
No! I do it too.

That is not weird at all!
I always use a lip brush which I clean after every application.....does MAC offer disposable wands?
If yes I would love to get them because I would prefer a "real" lipglass applicator.

Yeah, I need to use my dazzleglasses more often, I have loads from the first time I bought them perhaps 3 years ago? Can't remember which collection it was, but I bought loads of them, and have bought loads more ever since. I also picked up loads of Superglasses, all 6 Dare to wear glosses and 4 kissable lipcolours form Peacocky - as well as lots of regular lipglasses and lustreglasses. And that's just my Mac collection, lol.

I too need to be on a "must finish" mission with my lipglosses, esepcially my dazzleglasses.
